Duplicate entries in RoboHelp HTML v10 (Redux)

I've done some searching through the forums and there have already been a variety of posts related to duplicate search results in a .chm when generated with RH. I've followed the instructions from other posts, so far I have:

1) Created a copy of the project, renamed the .cpd file and reentered into RH.

2) Checked for any topics linked to above the main directory and none exist. Neither the hyperlinks in our help pages, nor the hhp files have any references beyond the root.

3) Removed any old .chm files from anywhere but the standard build location (ssl). We were originally building to the root directory of the project, but that has now all been removed so for all intents and purposes the ssl folder is a brand new build folder.

4) Created a new layout (which was used to target the sll build folder).

All of these solutions have failed to fix the problem, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's something different. One difference between my and others' problems in the forum is the second result does not return a page not found error, but rather links correctly to the page. The only difference between the duplicate results is that the second page always has a breadcrumb that links directly from the mainpage to the subject. So clearly the help generator found a functioning duplicate link inside the project directly from the mainpage to all the pages in our project, but I'm at a loss as to where it could be finding these references. Robohelp 10 crashing when generating a CHM

I am running Robohelp 10.0.1.292 on a Windows 7 64-bit with 4GB of RAM. I have a Robohelp project with 1,969 topics from which I've successfully built three WebHelp outputs, but when I generate a CHM file using the same conditional tags as one of the WebHelp outputs, Robohelp consistently crashes on the same topic and produces two crash events in my Windows Event log:

I rebooted my PC and restarted Robohelp, then applied a conditional tag to exclude the topic from the build and was able to successfully generate the CHM file. I turned off the conditional and have tried the following strategies which all result in the same two sequential Robohelp crashes:

Delete the CPD file
Delete topic from project and recreate it
Delete all the links to and from this topic
Remove topic from the TOC
Turn off conditional expressions
Delete the browse sequence
Delete the index
Change the path of the CHM file to one that is outside of the project
Shorten the output path of the CHM file to not have any spaces

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

ehlpdhtm.js script error - Object doesn't support property or method 'Activate'

This "Object doesn't support property or method 'Activate' ehlpdhtm.js error all of a sudden started popping up when I view any of the chms I build from my file system.

I initially through it was a 64-bit problem because if I view the chm from my file system I get the script error. But if I copy it to a 32-bit PC or run it from within RH (after it's compiled for example) or a 32-bit version of our software, it runs fine. (However, one of my co-workers tried it on her 64-bit machine and didn't receive any error.) In any case, it seems to be happening on my machine only.

Anyway, it's not on every topic, but on every one that calls the ehlpdhtm.js script with this line of code, it appears to be happening:

I don't think hhactivex.dll plays with this js at all, but just in case, I unregistred and re-registered that dll to no effect. I also tried explicitly adding in ehlpdhtm.js as a baggage file. Again, to no effect.

What could have changed on my system to make this start happening? And any ideas on how to fix it?

Internet Explorer Script Error

I get an Internet Explorer Script Error, similar to a previous post, but cannot resolve this by removing popups (the projects involved have no popups). I have contacted Adobe Help and after going back and forth a number of times, they withdrew the case (gave up?) and suggested I submit to this forum. Any ideas on a fix for this?

Here's the problem:

After the latest updates to Adobe Robohelp installed automatically (in February 2010, I believe), and then recompiling my projects, opening any topic results in an Internet Explorer Script Error. The message says "An error has occurred in the script on this page.... Object doesn't support this property or mtehtod.... URL: mk:@MSITStore:C:\ ..<etc>.... /FileFormat_rtf/Bitmap_Files.htm. Do you want to continue running scripts on this page."

After clearing with "Yes" or "No", the error reappers with every new link that I click.

Background:

RoboHelp Office 8.0 (Adobe RoboHelp for Word, Build 8.0.0.203)

MS Office 2007

Browser: Firefox
Operating System: Windows Vista

Details:

1. The problem does not occur on another machine when I transfer the *.chm to it. It is occurring on the machine that I use to develop the help system.

2. The problem occurs with all Robohelp *.chm, but not with *.chm from other software on my machine.

3. If I login to the machine as another user, the problem occurs then also.

4. I have run MJs Help Diagnostics to no avail.

Why does RoboHelp display duplicate topics (incl. one "not found") in Search Results?

The subject question pretty much sums it up, but here are some more details.

(1) There may be similar discussions on the forums about this -- but when I click on links it redirects to the main Adobe Support page, for some odd reason.

(2) I do not have any merged files, this is a simple project;

(3) I have COMPLETELY removed topics, not just from the TOC;

(4) When I search for content, such as "Help Me," for example, I get two listings of "Help Me." One points to the correct "Help Me" topic and the next points to a "This program cannot display the webpage" page.

Any guidance or help is greatly appreciated.

RoboHelp for HTML 9 - Problem with viewing .chm file on 64bit machine

I am working with RoboHelp for HTML 9 on a 32 bit machine. Recently, we encountered problems when viewing a .chm file on a 64 bit machine. The TOC was fine, but the topics did not appear, only error message "Navigation of this web page cancelled". My compilation settings did not change since the last compilation some months ago. What happens?

RoboHelp HTML 9 - Browse Sequences missing in compiled chm

After compilation of chm help file, I can see my browse sequences, but the users do not, although I am working on a 32 bit station, the users on 64 bit.

Note: I registered the HHActiveX.dll file as you explained in an older discussion.

I'm quite sure this is NOT possible, but I promised my localization coordinator, I'd ask.

The issue is that we have localized strings (from RH, not from our translators) that are overlapping on the Next and Previous buttons in some languages in the Browse Sequences. Like this:

I've looked, but I don't see a way to expand the button sizes. I know we can change the .lng file to use different (possibly shorter) terms than what RH picked for these, but a better solution would be to adjust the GUI for text expansion in localized languages.

How do I make RoboHelp report missing graphics?

[RoboHelp 9] Before building my CHM, I need to find out if any linked graphics are missing from the project's \graphics sub-folder. Is there any way I can make RoboHelp report missing graphics? The Broken Links report doesn't care if graphics are missing, only if hyperlinks are missing their targets. The Image Report just lists all the images referenced by the topics, but doesn't test if they are actually present in the required location. And if I build the help, the OutputLog.txt does not report that an image was missing. Any ideas how to detect missing images, before my CHM goes public?

Using Robohelp 10: When the help file is opened from application, the correct help page is shown on the right hand side but in the Contents panel the Title page item is selected. The content panel does not work.

linked pdfs from chm do not work in windows 8/explorer 11

I get the x broken link in top right corner... I tried all the solutions from changing reader settings to IE settings... no luck. the chm links works fine when opened on windows 7 and the pdfs open in multi screen and epub output. This is definitely a Windows 8/IE/Adobe Reader issue and it needs to be solved very soon or I may not have a job...

Contents, Index, & Search do not display in generated help...

I'm generating HTML help from RoboHelp 9, and when I click Contents, Index, and Search, the left navigation pane is blank, and I cannot search.

The start page does appear, and I can navigate to topics from hyperlinks in that page.

As of last week, this issue only occurred when viewing help in IE 11, but it is now occurring when I view help from IE, Chrome, and Firefox. Last Friday while it was still not working when I viewed my local copy, I tried uploading it and viewing it on IE11 from the Web, and it worked a bit better. I'm viewing it from the Web now and it's not working.

Does anyone have advice for this problem?

Importing word - need your help...

Hi, I'm trying to import a word file in order to create CHM file. The whole document is imported as a single topic, not separated into topics according to TOC. The result is that I have a CHM file, orgenized according to TOC, but the search is not working.

Setting the default tab of a CHM - Robohelp 8

Hello everyone,

This is a very simple thing, but I'm looked all over and can't figure out how to do it, I apologize if I missed it somewhere.

The CHM I've created defaults to displaying the "Index" tab on the left when opened, I need to to default to the "Contents" tab. I couldn't find any setting for it in the Generation options, and a google search turned up nothing.

It's a rather nitpick-y request, but it's been irritating me for the better part of the afternoon. Any help would be appreciated.

Double-entry Search results!

Hello! This odd behavior occurs when I generate a .chm and use my main project directory (or a subdirectory) as the output folder for the .chm. If I use the Search feature in the finished .chm, I get double entries for each topic, and only one of each works.

Ah, but if I create a folder up one level from my main project folder and use that as my output folder...no double Search results. If I use Desktop as my output destination...no problem. As long as my output folder is not the same as or contained within my main project folder, the .chm Search behaves as it should and returns only single entries for each topic.

I have multiple projects that use the same general directory structure, and I usually output the .chm to a directory called "Deliverables" for each separate project. None of the other projects have this peculiar Search problem.

I have seen a sort-of related article in which deleting files that begin with "rlt" solves a similar issue. No such files exist in this project directory. I have poked through the various files the RH generates for the project, and haven't seen anything that looks like it could cause this weird problem.

So yes, I have a workaround...but I should not need one. Does anyone know what's going on here? And how do I fix it?
