PNG showing up with black background

All of a sudden my png images with transparent backgrounds are only showing up with black backgrounds in Captivate. I thought it was the photoshop at first but when I tried to pull old png images in that showed up fine before, the black background showed up. ANy ideas? Hopefully I am explaining this clearly.

Frequently Encountered Issues

This topic will outline many of the Frequently Encountered Issues with Adobe Captivate.

Note that the list is not presented in any particular order.

1. I'm working with the Trial version of Adobe Captivate. Feature X doesn't seem to be working for me. Is it because I'm using the trial?

Adobe Captivate is fully functional during the trial and is not crippled in any way. Likely you have configured something a bit wrong or you have encountered a feature that needs to be addressed.

2. I have Captivate 6 or 7 and my co-worker has Captivate 5 or 5.5. Can we both work on the same projects?

Adobe Captivate has never been backward compatible. If you both need to work on the same projects, your co-worker should upgrade to match your version.

3. Check your project location!

We often see users complaining of odd behavior and Captivate generally misbehaving. Sometimes this is the direct result of having the Captivate project (.CP file) stored on a network location.

We recommend as a best practice to only make edits to your Captivate project while it is on your local C drive. Copy it to a network location if you need to maintain a backup. Just don't open it and make edits while it is on the network.

4. I created a link to a Web Page, PDF Document or Word Document. It works in Preview but not after I Publish.

This is often an issue with Flash Player Security. An explanation and workaround are offered in the blog post linked below.

Note that this issue will also affect Daisy Chaining projects. After all, Daisy Chaining is simply a way to link projects together. And if you can't link to a Web Page because security disallows it, you also cannot link to other Captivate projects!

You may also want to check out what is listed for number 9 below. That's usually the next question.

Additionally, note that the only time Flash Player Security will affect things is when you are running the Captivate from the local C drive. This generally affects only the Captivate author. If your plan is to upload the Captivate to a server or a LMS, there should be no issues encountered by your end users because they will be in a different security zone.

Further, note that Flash Player Security may also affect the ability to execute JavaScript.

5. I need to create a survey where I may gather and tabulate results. Is Captivate a good choice?

While Captivate certainly offers a Survey question type, it is unfortunately not a good choice for surveys. You might investigate a specialized service such as SurveyMonkey.

It's worth noting that Adobe themselves use SurveyMonkey for their own surveys!

6. The Exit button on the Playback Control doesn't close the Browser.. .

Closing the browser window is problematic at best. What you are trying to do is the same as would be done using JavaScript. In fact, many users attempt to script closing the window using JavaScript. This is most often an exercise in futility.

The issue is not with Captivate. Instead it is with the browser. Not only is it browser dependent but it's also dependent on how the window playing the Captivate movie was opened to begin with. You are strongly encouraged to conduct your own research by opening a browser and using a search engine such as Google to see how often issues with closing the browser are asked about. You will likely find yourself very surprised!

Please note that this issue also applies to closing the window from a Learning Management System (LMS) as well as using the Close Project option available as a Project End Action.

7. During playback my Captivate movie keeps stopping. I don't want it to.

Please examine your Timeline area. If you have a Button, Click Box or Text Entry Box object on the slide it will pause the slide. That's what these items are supposed to do.

The options are to either remove the object from the slide or configure it so it doesn't pause.

8. During playback my Captivate movie just plays along and doesn't stop. I want it to stop.

If you insert a Button, Click Box or Text Entry Box object on the slide it will pause the slide and wait for user interaction before proceeding.

9. I'm linking to a PDF, URL or a Word Document and when I click the Button or Click Box, the movie continues. How do I keep it paused?

Look to the immediate right of where you type the URL or File Name. You should see a button with a down arrow on it. Click this button and you should be able to choose "New". You have probably already found this option.

What you likely missed (and it's super easy to miss) is another option that isn't available until you choose New. The opton is "Continue Playing Project". You need to click the button with the down arrow a second time, then click this option to turn it off.

10. I can't seem to get Text To Speech installed and working. I thought I installed it but it keeps telling me to install it.

What you installed is the installer for TTS. The link below should help you sort the issue.

Since version 5 has been announced, the location of the Text To Speech install file for the Captivate 4 installer has changed. Click here to view the blog post containing a link to the new download location.

11. Question count does not match actual questions.

Perhaps you have created only two actual question slides, but during playback, the question progress indicator lists Question 29 of 30. Where did the other 28 questions come from?

If you recorded using Simulation mode, Click Boxes are added for you during the process. These probably have Reporting enabled and all will count as questions. The goal is to turn off reporting for them. To turn off reporting easily, tap the F9 key to open the Advanced Interaction view and clear the check marks (V4 and earlier) or note the slides with scorable Click Boxes (v5 and later).

12. PowerPoint doesn't convert cleanly to Captivate.

Many users report issues with bringing PowerPoint content into Captivate.

One possible way to achieve crystal clear and clean Captivate movies from PowerPoint is to take the same approach Camtasia takes. Just present the PowerPoint and record it as it plays! This involves configuring PowerPoint to present the slide show in a window (Slide Show > Set Up Show > Browsed by an Individual). You then use Captivate to record the slide show as it plays.

Using the approach above should result in a crystal clear recording exactly as you hoped to see it.

13. Captivate 5 EXE files fail to work properly after you distribute them

Many users have reported issues where the EXE files they create using Captivate 5 work just dandy on their own PCs but fail to work properly on other PCs after they ship the file.

The Adobe Captivate team has made a blog post about this issue and it contains a link to an ad hoc patch they created to address the issue. We remain hopeful that the fix will be included in an official Captivate update.

14. Captivate 5 files open with a Black or White screen

Many users have reported issues where the Captivate files they create using Captivate 5 work just dandy on their own PCs but fail to work properly on other PCs after they ship the file. When played, the screen turns completely black or white.

Note that different browsers may be using different versions of the Flash player. For example, IE may be presenting content using player version 8 while Firefox may be using version 10.

15. Captivate appears to freeze when performing certain actions such as editing audio

This may occur if you are using two monitors at work, but only have one at home and you are working at home. When the second monitor is removed from the picture, Captivate doesn't realize this and still presents the dialog in the space where the second monitor would be.

If you are working on a PC and have a keyboard with a Windows logo on it, press and hold the Windows logo key, then tap one of the arrow keys a couple of times. Try the left or right arrow keys. These key combinations allow Windows to manipulate any given window that is open.

button hyperlinks work in project preview but not in published .swf

Captivate 6, button hyperlinks work in project preview but not in published .swf, the cursor changes the “the hand” but the hyperlink does not redirect.

Any ideas?

Like I said my buttons work great in preview mode after publishing, one click and the PDF opens in a new browser window. Open the project through the published .swf files and the links will not work.

Converting SWF to MP4 format - Captivate v6

Hi,

When I create a course in MP4 format with Captivate v6, what actually happens is that it publishes the course in SWF format, and it then converts this into MP4 format.

However, I would like to use this converter to convert standalone SWFs into MP4 format, mainly because I've lost the original Captivate file. Is this possible?

How can I make slides NOT advance automatically in Captivate 6?

I placed a smart caption on the Master Slide. However, it can be clicked, ignoring the time frame for the slide. Is there a way to stop advanced automation, use the smart caption but still hold the participant to stay on that slide until it has played completely?

I also have another question about the assessment slide as well but I will post another comment if I can't answer that question.

Captivate 8 - Mac OS X Mavericks - Can't print to Micrsoft Word

When I select File>Print and attempt to publish to Microsoft Word (to create handouts), the process begins and then fails, accompanied by an alert that reads:

"Publish to MS Word failed. Retry after ensuring that

- The document is not open.

- You have installed Microsoft Word."

I have ensured that both of those bullet items are true, and I continue to experience the same issue, repeatedly. I have MS Office 2011 installed on my MacBook Pro.

I was about to post this question, when I had another idea, which turned out to be a workaround for the issue. I'm posting my question along with this simple solution anyway, in case anyone else is experiencing the same problem:

If I launch MS Word before attempting to print the project in Captivate, then I'm able to successfully print/publish to MS Word from within Captivate. It appears that Captivate is unable to independently open Word, at least on my system.

If anyone knows how to get Captivate to print to MS Word without having to first open the Word application, I'd appreciate a response.

Simple way to count the Elapsed Time from one slide to another

Hi, I know there are quite a few posts and materials about this one but.. I can't get it right.

I read a lot and also did what an expert in that domain - Lilybiri - has proposed in her several blogs about the matter.

Actually, what I am looking for is an extremely simple thing. I use captivate 7. I have a project with 15 slides. The first 5 are with instructions about the asignment (we dont care about them for the timer). The last 10 are with the assignment itself. What I need is to count the time spent from Slide 6 to Slide 15. Tried the timer widget - it does not stop at slide 15 + it's looks cannot be customised. Also tried advanced actions and cpInfoElapsed... variable - apparently I am not that good to figure it out. The idea is to be able to tell the learner - you spent XX time to complete this assignment.

Would really appreciate a hand please.

How to embed YouTube into Captivate slide

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to embed a YouTube video into a Captivate slide? From what I have seen online there only seems to be a few 3rd party options via widgets and no real native way of simply embedding a video on a slide.

A workaround would be to directly embed the video footage but this would mean a much larger initial download as opposed to a small inital download accompanied by a video stream later on in the presentation.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Captivate 7 - jump back and forth between projects

I have two Captivate projects. I want to open the second from the first, but then I want to be able to jump back to the first on a specific page. For example, I want to open page of the second project from page 6 of the first, but when the second project is finished, I want the learner to jump back to page 7 of the first one. Can this be done?

Hey there, I would like to have meaningful analysis with the Quiz Results Analyzer.

Here is what I need. I am afraid I don't see the answer to my problem with the Quiz Results Analyzer.

Lets keep it simple and picture this scenario. I use Captivate 7, I have one question in a Quiz, I report with an Internal Server. The question is Likert scale survey question. Lets say it is the following:

Do you agree that smoking is harmful

- Absolutely Yes

- Somewhat Yes

- Don't Know

- Somewhat No

- Absolutely Not

I have 10 respondents. They send their results. When I export the xml file and load it in Analyzer, there is no way to see an overview of what number of people chose the first answer, the second, etc.
I can certainly go and check them one by one, but there is no way of getting a simple graphic for instance or even a csv file with the distribution of responses. I have seen some ideas to do that with a Multiple Choice Question instead. I try that too, but again there is no way I can go to the Analyzer and export data that would show the distribution of responses. What I am looking for is something as simple as

- Absolutely Yes: 2 answers

- Somewhat Yes: 3 answers

- Don't Know: 1 answer

- Somewhat No: 1 answer

- Absolutely Not: 3 answers

It is simple statistics really, but one can only export stats like how many people responded, how many passed or not and stuff like that. The meaningful statistic in any Likert scale is to see the %-age of people who chose the different answers. Is there any other way of orgnanising that or any other program that I could use to produce meaningful stats, please?

Captivate 7 exit button does not work when published to LMS

I recently published a course using Captivate 7 and uploaded it to our LMS. During the review of the course it was noticed that the Close or Exit button on the controller did not work in IE. However, it did work in Chrome.

I have looked through this forum and found that there were similar issue with older versions of Captivate. However, we have course published with Captivate 6 on our LMS in which the Close or Exit button does work.

Does anybody have a solution for this problem? Do we know if there is an update scheduled to fix this problem?

Captivate 8 - Video integration issues. Video will not play from webserver when published as HTML5 course and the video is selected as Play in Same Screen. When video does play it will only work in New Window. The problem is the client requested embedded video and it does show as an option in Captivate 8. Also, the video screen does not stay in one place on the screen the frame will move to the top of the browser window in IE. The video issues ONLY appear in IE and Chrome for PC. We have updated browsers, installed all updates to Captivate 8 etc.

Firewall exception each time Captivate 8 is launched

Every time I launch Captivate 8 I get a Windows Security Alert asking me to add an exception to my Windows Firewall for Captivate. The details of each exception point to a location inside my appdata\local\temp directory.

Captivate 8 line spacing problem; unable to adjust

Something strange has happened to one of my Captivate files. The line spacing in my text captions has become...broken. No matter what I change the spacing to--1 or 20, the spacing never changes. It looks like it's stuck on a "2" even though it shows "1" in the properties. If I create a NEW text caption, the line spacing works. But I'm really far along in the course and don't want to have to go back and replace every single text caption.

Any idea if there is a fix or at least what may have caused this to happen so that I can avoid it in the future?

Accessing Captivate 6 with Flash 6 AS3

Is there no simple way to just change this code to make a drag and drop interaction work in CP6 that used to work in CP5.5? See bold text below...

It could be some time before we get the CP8 upgrade which includes D&D natively. (I'm using CP6 on a standalone computer without internet access, so can't download the new D&D widget.)

I've been searching for some time for a better answer than to use the WidgetFactory to redo the whole thing.

I tried the New>Widget in Flash option, but there is no guidance for using that intimidating looking page of code that pops up.

Is there a basic tutorial for using that somewhere?

CP8.01 HTML5 Preview Error

Hi All,

So since upgrading to CP8.01 I keep getting an error when trying to view my responsive projects.

I preview using F11 (or preview) and it opens in Chrome, however all I get on screen is the following error:

Error 404: Not Found

File Not found.

The browser URL is localhost..... and CP is mapped to the default temp locations just like it was in CP8.0

I run Edge inspect in my browser which I have noticed the Inspect icon is no longer lighting up when I preview.

Is it possible that the error is being caused by inspect or is this a issue with CP 8.01

(Note: If I publish and preview in chrome, no issue.)

Stuck on Loading... screen -- Forever

We have a number of SCORM 1.2 courses published from Captivate 5 that are getting stuck on the grey Loading.. screen.

What is odd about this is that the course launches fine on initial launch.

If you then close after a couple of pages and relaunch, bookmarking works fine; it opens to the correct page.

If you complete the course and close, The content is marked as completed in the LMS.

IF you then relaunch, it takes you to the final page, which has a button to allow you to retake. That button works correctly and navigates to page 1.

If you then navigate a few pages in, close the course and attempt to relaunch, it always hangs at the Loading... page.

Any ideas?

I have just tried using the adobe captivate 7.0, i expected responsive HTML 5 outout from it. But, its giving an HTML 5 output which is of fixed width and height that defined when we start working on CP 7.0. To have the courses on my new website, alljobs99 i need to responsive HTML 5 output, how can achieve this, is there any other way to do it? please help me.

Where can I find out how to link my Captivate quizzes to a database?

I need to link my Captivate courses to a database in order to track individual students' participation and completion of activities. I am less interested in capturing grades than simply recording whether they took the formative quizzes and read through to the end of the presentations.

Any help greatly appreciated. A fair amount of searching has not lead me to an answer on the web and my Captivate 7 'e-Learning Uncovered' book has absolutely zero information on this.

Project not run on ipad, only in pc and smartphone iphone. Help me please.

Captivate 8 Retake Quiz

Hello,

I have a quiz set consisting of 11 graded questions with 0 points for each question (these are questions 1-11) and 10 graded questions with a point for each question(these are questions 12-22). If a user does not pass I want them to be able to retake the test by clicking a button that will reset the test and take them to the first question that they get a point which is question 12 (I want to skip the first 11 non-points questions).

Why are rounded corners on smart shapes fuzzy and pixelated?

Using Captivate 8. The rounded corners on Smart shapes look fuzzy and pixelated. Not cool. The square corners look not-so-hot too, but less noticeable than rounded corners. Any advice to smooth them out?

Master Slide templates are not showing correctly once out of film view

I am having problems with the master view edit within captivate. I have correctly adjusted the slides to fit the design I want, however when I add a new slide with that layout the buttons and boxes are throw all over the place. As well, a lot of the objects I would like to delete in the quiz pages can not be deleted and when trying to change the text for the default correct, must answer questions box..etc I am not able to change this text.

I am posting quiz results to an Internal Server using the InternalServerReporting.php script. The entry gets written to the server but a result of "Unknown Error" is returned to the student. I have the captivate HTML file at the root (C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/). I have tried suppressing the Popup window for Student Name and Student ID by entering values in the cpQuizInfoStudentID and cpQuizInfoStudentName variables but I still get a return popup window with the "Unknown Error"

Problems with Adobe Captivate 8 displaying in Firefox

Hi there,

I've published the course as both SWF and HTML5, and then it is uploaded to the Cornerstone LMS. In Firefox (we've tried version 29.0.1 on a Mac and version 32.0.1 on a PC) it tries to display the Flash version of the course rather than the HTML5, so it only shows a blank screen and nothing more. I've tried adding "firefox" to the multiscreen.html file, ie:

and this does then make Firefox display the HTML5 version, but it will then display some screens and then randomly show a blank page and won't go any further. It seems to stop on pages either with a lot of elements on them, or on quiz pages.

Has anyone else come across this? And any ideas for what else I can try?

Hello forums,

I'm new to the forums (and Captivate in general), but I'm having a real problem carrying out a tutorial design and I think you may be my only hope. Let me explain what I want to do and the difficulty that I'm having:

I'm an instruction librarian at a university, and I'm designing an interactive tutorial for English 100 students to complete in order to become familiar with how to search the library catalog. What I've done is taken a screenshot of the catalog search page, made it the background of a slide in Captivate (vers. 6), and placed a text entry box over the search bar in the screenshot. The idea is for the students to conduct a simulated search by choosing one of three suggested search string formulations, and depending on the search string they enter, the tutorial will jump to a slide featuring a screenshot of what the actual search results would look like. The idea is to emphasize the use of keywords over full-sentence phrases, and the use of double quotation marks to enclose multi-word search terms.

So I've set the action for the TEB to "Execute Advanced Actions" and then created some IF/THEN statements in the "Advanced Actions" pop-up window (with action type set to 'conditional'). The script is such that if the student enters the first search option (how does sleep affect college students) in the TEB, the tutorial jumps to 1 slide, if they enter the second option (college students AND sleep), featuring a Boolean operator (AND), the tutorial jumps to a 2nd slide, and if they enter the third option ("college students" AND sleep) with the double quotes around "college students" and the Boolean operator, the tutorial should jump to a 3rd slide. This action script works fine for the first two input options, but I can't make it work for the third search option.

I think that it has something to do with the fact that the third input option features double quote marks, and this seems to throw off the script (I tried a quote-less input value for the third IF/THEN just to make sure that it would work jumping to the 3rd slide and it did), and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get around this issue. Again, I need it to work so that if the student enters "college students" AND sleep, with the quote marks and the Boolean operator, the tutorial will jump to a slide showing the search results if those search terms were used in a real search of the catalog.

I'd be extremely grateful for any help that anyone here can give me, we've been trying to make our online tutorials more engaging and interactive (and therefore more interesting), and I think this would be a great way to teach students about using quotes in their catalog searches.

Captivate 7 Crashing

Hi,

I have recently installed Captivate 7 and am having some crashing issues.

I converted an old project to Captivate 7 and was able to open it, edit it, save it and close it. I then tried to create a blank project and Captivate crashes. Captivate puts a template slide in the blank project for me which looks like a PowerPoint slide with instructions to "Double click to add title". Being new to Captivate 7 I have tried to do this only to end up with the following error messages:

"A fatal error has occurred and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folders as ".cpbackup" files.

Please restart Adobe Captivate."

A randomly named backup file also appears (the randomness coming from the fact that I have not saved the new blank project I guess, although I did try a save and got the same issues with crashing).

As the blank project is still opened I have tried to go back and double-click to add a title only to be told:

"Placeholder_1 is either a reserved keyword or is already assigned to another item. Provide a different name for the item."

This is a bit odd as it is Captivate doing the naming, not me. I suspect that it might be in conflit with the cpbackup file?

Anyway, has anyway got any ideas before I blast it all away (not an easy option as I have to get ICT support to do this as I am not allowed to be an administrator on my machine) and reinstall or get my money back and go to an earlier version of Captivate that I know works?

Any help or suggestion is appreciated. I have tried renaming the resource folder in Application Data\Adobe but this did not seem to work.

Is there a "snap-to-playhead" feature?

I'm brand new to Captivate (using 8), and am finding myself constantly needing to adjust the right (end) edge... usually to the playhead. Is there a 'snap to playhead' feature? Is anyone else having this issue?

Publish to MP4 with added video (Captivate 6)

I do have to publish with included videos as an intro and outro. If I publish them as swf and version 9 they perfectly show up. As soon as I am trying to publish them as mp4, instead of the videos the message "connection error" appears.

Is there any way to solve that?

Smart Shape Button Shrinkage Problem (it's not just cold)

Would be helpful if someone has a solution for me but I feel this is more of an issue with Captivate Smart Shapes in general.

I love using Smart Shapes as buttons especially now you can have different states for Normal, Over and Down. The problem is that smart shapes when used as buttons shrink, which in some respects is good as it provides the user some type of visual feedback of interactivity and I think that was the intention when Smart Shapes as buttons were introduced. But here is the problem, If you position your cursor just on the edge of Smart Shape Button and click, the shape shrinks and is no longer under the cursor. When you release your mouse button any action that was attached to that button will not fire

I would be happy for someone to point out to me a quick solution that I may be missing but I've not found any posts regarding this. This problem makes me review my principles of interface design when using Adobe Captivate and Smart Shapes as buttons to ensure that the user clicks well within the active area of the Smart Shape button. We are only talking about about 5 pixels I think but if you have effects such as glows or shadows on the button then visually you are giving the user more opportunity to encounter this problem.

Any whoooo, if any one can tell me, 'oh, you just need to click this option...' and hey presto no more shrinkage then GREAT and I apologise for this rambling post

Table widget won't display in Captivate 8

Having problems with the Table Widget learning interaction in Captivate 8.

I can select the interaction, type and modify table contents and properties in the 'configure interaction' window, and it displays properly. See Image below:

When I click OK to finalise the interaction it will not display properly on the project page. See appearance in image below:

I am using in a responsive project, but will also do this in a blank project.

The other learning interaction widgets appear to display correctly on the page within captivate, only seems to be the table widget. When I publish for devices and view in a browser, the table appears to display as it should.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm trying to create a silent install package for Captivate 7. It doesn't appear that this works with AAMEE. Has anyone been able to do this? If it won't be possible with AAMEE, is there a way to do it with cmd line switches?

I have been creating responsive CP 8 SCORM 1.2 courses with a Moodle 2.7 back-end, and I have been receiving reports that the LMS API errors indicating trouble communicating, and that content has been slow albeit not the best of broadband speed. (I have been trying to view my responsive mobile courses on my iPhone 4 safari and it does not work that well either.) I am wondering if there are some recommendations to improve performance in these situations? Does server location also have to do with it as well?

I'll admit, I'm knee deep in work and I can't spare the time research this and I apologize if this question has been asked and answered.

I have a project that has a TOC, a pop up menu AND navigation buttons...and the client still wants the user to be able to type in a slide number to navigate to that slide. And upon thinking about it for a while, I just told the client I couldn't see how that could be done (frankly, three ways to get around seems overly adequate) but nevertheless, it has come up again. I figured if there's any way it could be done, someone here would know and could give me some insight on how.

Multiple Quizzes with multiple results (in Captivate 6)

Does anyone know if it is possible to do multiple tests with multiple results in captivate 6? or if it is possible to have a pre-test with a quiz, and have separate results for each?

I've been having a play with captivate 6 and when I put a quiz in, it overrides the results slide for my pre-test.

Looking at the results slide master properties I can choose to have results for one of my quizzes but not both (even on separate slides):

It wont even let me insert another slide based on the other result.

I would like to know if multiple quizzes with multiple results is possible in Captivate 6?, or if I am simply doing something wrong?

Does Captivate publish to AICC HACP? I know it can publish to AICC, but wondering about its ability to publish content as AICC HACP and support cross domain communication between the LMS and externally hosted course content.

So, I know there are two types of AICC courses:

AICC JavaScript API (JSAPI) - these courses behave similarly to SCORM courses and need to be hosted on our FTP space, as the JavaScript parts of the course don't work across two different domains.

AICC HTTP-based AICC/CMI Protocol (HACP) - these courses don't use JavaScript to transmit tracking data, so there is no inherent cross-domain limitation. Therefore these courses can be hosted remotely.

As far as I know, Captivate only does AICC JSAPI. This means they wouldn't be able to be hosted remotely out of the box. However, I don't know if this is the case for sure. There may be some functionality that I'm not aware of, or they may have added new functionality after version 5, which is the last I tested.

Delay audio to speed loading?

I've read in other posts that you should put a short delay on the slide audio in order to speed loading. My understanding is that if you don't do this, Captivate will download all of your audio before it starts, which can slow the loading process.

But, the posts that I've found are several years old. Is that still the case?

Is it possible to lock content in portrait mode?

Hi,

About six months ago I enrolled for the annual subscription of Adobe Captivate 7. Now I would like to enroll for the Adobe Captivate 8 subscription but my Cp7 subscription is still ongoing. I don't know what this would mean? I would assume that my options are:

Swap my Cp7 subscription for a Cp8 subscription at the same cost and would include the monthly payments I've already made. Not sure if this is an option and am looking to talk to someone from Adobe to help me understand this.
Start a second subscription for Cp8. This would make no sense because I would end up paying for two subscriptions.
Cancel my current Cp7 subscription but in reading up, I believe Adobe will charge me 50% of the remaining month since I committed to a 12-month subscription. And then enroll for Cp8.

Option 1 is the preferred option if it really is an option at all. Can anyone help me out with how this would work. Dying to get my hands on Cp8 but can't until I figure out how to wrap up/swap my existing Cp7 subscription.

ghost lines in published files

My published files contain ghost lines specifically during actions such as scrolling and typing. When I play the single frame I do not see these ghost lines. Additionally, I don't see these lines when I Preview the next 5 slides.

I have set the Quality to "Optimized" and "High (24 Bit)" for the appropriate frames. This doesn't impact the ghost lines.

I imported a PPT for the first three introductory slides, then recorded the remaining (52) frames by clicking the Record additional slides for this project.

I published numerous times, eliminating the Advanced Project Compression and Compress SWF file checkboxes does not eliminate the problem.

The Retain Slide Quality Settings checkbox is selected.

I have 30 frames per second selected in the Publish Settings area.

I installed the latest patch yesterday. Before the patch I published my quiz and everything worked fine except the final slide audio would start after the first correct answer (no clue why). After the patch all my quiz buttons disappear. They are custom image buttons that replace the original CP buttons. Has anyone had a similar problem?
