Hi,

I have been given the task of researching websites for the best examples of eLearning/creativity and interactive elements that use Captivate. We want to see how other people are using Captivate, and what the best learning methods are, and of course, some ideas to borrow!

If you are from a company who published Captivate projects, please post here. Unfortunatley we only publish to closed sites, so there would be no point in publishing our websites here.

Where can I find out how to link my Captivate quizzes to a database?

I need to link my Captivate courses to a database in order to track individual students' participation and completion of activities. I am less interested in capturing grades than simply recording whether they took the formative quizzes and read through to the end of the presentations.

Any help greatly appreciated. A fair amount of searching has not lead me to an answer on the web and my Captivate 7 'e-Learning Uncovered' book has absolutely zero information on this.

Is there a way to "TYPE" in a slide number to navigate?

Hi all,

I'll admit, I'm knee deep in work and I can't spare the time research this and I apologize if this question has been asked and answered.

I have a project that has a TOC, a pop up menu AND navigation buttons...and the client still wants the user to be able to type in a slide number to navigate to that slide. And upon thinking about it for a while, I just told the client I couldn't see how that could be done (frankly, three ways to get around seems overly adequate) but nevertheless, it has come up again. I figured if there's any way it could be done, someone here would know and could give me some insight on how.

Help on Final Step for Drag and Drop Exercise

Does anyone know the best way to create a test item where the learner has to place a check mark in the correct cells and hit submit to succeed.
I was using a drag and drop but I am lost on step three.

I am using the check marks as drag sources, square shapes located in all cells will the correct cell/box assigned as the correct drop target.

The issue is when I get to step three, how do I allow the user to drag ANY checkmark (drag target) to the correct cell/box (drop target). When I get to step 3, I have to assign each individual checkmark to ONE specific cell/box and I want the learner to be able to drag any checkmark, as long as it is dropped in a designated drop target.

If there is another way I should approach this test item instead of drag and drop, I am open to any suggestions.

I am currently using capitvate 7 and running windows 8. When I create a html5 project and then create an app using the app packager, the IOS app comes out great, however although the Android content loads up, there is no sound. Is there a setting I need to change?

Difference between a Success Action and an Advanced Action

I've isolated an instance in which using an On Success to Assign a variable in response to clicking a click zone produces a different (and unusable) effect than if the On Success triggers a dedicated Advanced Action whose sole code is to make the exact same Assignment. I'd like to understand why I cannot rely on the Assign action and if possible get a fix or workaround. Here's my situation.

On a slide I have two click zones: one for the correct area to click and the other encompassing the entire screen to trap for wrong clicks. I want to keep track of the fact that the user made a wrong click and so I want to assign a -1 value to a variable so that I can know whether to assign points to the user or not when they finally do click the right area. In other words, I do NOT want to move on to the next slide until they have clicked the correct area. Yet when I set a On Success to Assign, Captivate moves on to the next slide. Contrast this to what happens if the same click zone has an On Success of Advanced Action that has one line which is that same Assign to a variable of -1. In this case, the assignment also happens properly, but Captivate stays on the slide the way I want. What's going on here and what can I do about it? The way things are now, I have had to make nearly 100 individual Advanced Actions that do nothing but make a variable assignment, something that would be much easier if I could just use the Assign action.

I'm using Captivate 7.0.1 for Windows and can't upgrade to 8 for the foreseeable future.

Locking/Unlocking Table of Contents Navigation in CP8

Hi all,

My client wants to have the Table of Contents lock/unlock for slides that were visited by the learner. So they shouldn't be able to skip ahead using the TOC, but they can click on any previous slide they've already visited and be able to jump to it. I know that with CP8, there is a new System Variable that makes this easier to accomplish than before, but how are you setting it up? On slide exit? And how are you writing up the action?

Captivate 7 - HTML5 - Project to External MP4 - Back to Project at Quiz slide

Hi,

I am new to using Captivate and my company has me using Captivate 7. I am tasked with creating a project (blank project) importing a video, and then returning to the Captivate project to take a quiz. The video quality is not good in HTML5 or MP4 when imported into the project. I have alternatively, linked within the slide a button to the HTML5 video, and successfully launched the video with perfect quality. I have created a button within the HTML5 video to go back to the original project. I see an option to go back to the project, but not to the specific slide where the quiz begins. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Captivate 6 - Strange Pause Behavior

Hi All,

I am having a problem with the pause slide action in Captivate. At the end of each slide, I want the playbar to pause and not automatically forward to the next slide.

Here's what I did to set it up:

Under slide properties > action > on exit, set execute advanced action
The advanced action is assign cpCmndPause with literal 1

In Captivate versions 3 - 5, that would pause at the final frame of a slide before loading the next slide. In Version 6, it will forward to the next slide, then pause on the first frame.

I did find a workaround using javascript:

On slide exit, execute javascript in current window: PauseSlide();
In the published .htm file, I added the following lines of code after line 11

I am using the demo version of C6, and have found this behavior in the 64-bit version on win 7 and 32-bit version on win xp

Printing a slide in Captivate 6 HTML5 output via javascript

I have been googling for the past 3 work days trying to figure this out.

I had some limited success with printing a div via javascript and pointing it at the slide div (I know it happens to be Slide16952).

Which is fine, except it doesn't keep the CSS elements of the slide which is what makes it a pretty completion certificate. Print widgets won't work because I have to publish to HTML5 and not flash (no, no choice in this). I am struggling to get any javascript working.

I have this right now which I just picked up as a generic to try and get me going

I then point my print button at PrintElem('Slide16952') via a javascript window.

obviously I haven't written this to fit my particular project yet, but the part I am having the most issue with is trying to get the captivate CSS stuff to come through. mydiv should = Slide16952 I think. The CSS form that captivate creates has several block visible elements, but I believe the one I am trying to make sure I get is .cp-shape in CPLibrary.css, but there could be others I want too and I am not sure which.

has anyone had any luck getting a single slide printed in HTML? window.print() only gets me like 95% of the slide and a loft of white space around it.

TOC - Check Marks

I was asked if the completion check marks on the Table of Contents can be altered. Specifically, the user wishes to see yellow check marks if the slide/page was accessed and green check marks if the page was viewed to completion.

Has anyone heard of such a feature either in widget form or otherwise?

Unfortunately it looks like that the only resource (a pay one) in the whole www to know the necessary code to get the values from captivate's variables and set variables' values back through javascript commands for HTML5 output (only interest) is the "JavaScript Video Series for Adobe Captivate 7" from CaptivateDev.com… which, I can't afford… I've basic knowleg in js, and please I'd like a little help with that, OR just fix the following syntax please, I'm stuck with this project cuz doesn't want to run in html5:

How do I provide custom feedback for quiz questions?

Hi All,

I'm fairly new to Captivate 5.5 and trying to figure out how to create custom feedback for each quiz question, for example:

Question: What color is the sky?

Answer A: Blue

Answer B: Red

Answer selected: Red (incorrect)

I want to create a customized feedback message for each individual question, that explains WHY that answer is incorrect, such as:

That is incorrect. The correct answer is Blue, which is correct because ___________(add explanation here).

The questions I am asking in the quiz I'm working on now require very involved answers, and we are using this quiz as a teaching tool in preparation for a final exam in an LMS (rather than a scored test within Captivate). I assume that is a "Survey" question rather than a "Graded" question, but I am still not seeing a way to provide feedback/remediation immediately following the individual quiz question. The only option seems to be jump them back to another section within the course - which I do not want to do. Can someone please help me resolve this?

Converting .SWF to .MOV or .AVI

I created videos in Captivate 5 for Mac -- under the Software Simulation project type -- and published them as Fullscreen .swf files optimized for iphone/apple products. I now need to convert these files to a .mov or .avi file format so my employer will not have trouble with some of its customers not being able to view my Captivate videos.

When I attempt to bring the .swf files into third party video converters (that claim to support the .swf format) I get a message telling me that this file type is not supported. Same goes for when I attempted to use the Adobe Media Encoder (both CS4 and CS5).

Why is this happening? Why is the .swf file created by Captivate not recognized?

Any suggestions?

Captivate : Training mode no text input boxes

While recording the application in the automatic Training mode, I have no text input boxes in the result, even if the preferences are correctly assigned. The text appears in demo mode. Before, I had no problem with it, but since I changed my PC, I can't see how can I solve this problem.

Accessibility labeling: The "extra" element in a Smart Shape button

Running Cp7 and using the JAWS 14 reader.

We're using smart shapes as buttons on our master slide to access the help/resources/glossary throughout the course. The process was a simple - just created the shape, imported the image and applied it, then selected "use as a button" and created the shared action to open the selected page (see below)

508 compliance is in the form of shortcut keys, since smart shapes are tabbable, but don't respond to the standard "tab/enter" combination. The problem is as follows:

1. We selected accessibility and put the text for use in (see below)

2. We ran the JAWS 14 reader and heard from a series of "ghosts". JAWS picked up the smart shape accessibility text and identifed it as a button, but also picked up unnamed buttons for each of these - which is not a good thing and won't pass 508 testing - can't have unknown/unlabeled interactive objects, even if they don't exist!

3. Thinking we had some glitchy artifact issue, we created a clean blank slide presentation and rebuilt the three buttons to our specs again (no imports or copying - brand new actions and everything!) The result was the same - a set of ghost buttons being read in JAWS 14 just before reading the accessibility text for each button.

Question for the forum - anyone lese had these ghost buttons show up in your JAWS or other screen reader tests when you create smart shape buttons? Anyone have a solution?

Captivate 6 - Quiz slides, submit button behind other buttons problem

Hi, I am trying to position my buttons on my question slides so that the back button is behind the clear button, and the next button is behind the submit button.

Using the info others have posted i managed to get the back button and clear button aligned perfectly.

However, the advice of "remove and re-add the button to bring to front" does not work with the submit button as it cannot be removed, thus it is always behind the next button. Is there a way to bring the submit button to the front or to specifically hide the next button during the initial quiz taking?

Jeopardy style board function

I'm trying to create a Jeopardy style module with several click boxes on the main screen. I want the user to be able to click on any box which would display the Jeopardy "question" and then once they've answered the question, they'll go back to the main screen. That question they just clicked on would either be grayed out, or removed.

How can I make the module remember which box was click on - no matter what order - gray it out, and continue to remember which ones were clicked, until all the boxes were used up?

Captivate 8 - Import Closed Captioning vs. Copy Paste ability?

We develop online learning modules and import video and audio into a project then publish the files as swf and html files to load into our media asset warehouse which then loads into our own LMS.

The only way we have been able to figure out how to do closed captioning is to get the transcripts of the audio and video files that our transcriptionists create, then copy and paste them into the closed captioning windows on the appropriate audio or video attached at the slide level at the correct in and out.

Our old system allowed us to have time codes generated of the transcripts, then import the xml file into the system which linked all the time codes in the xml file to the time codes in our own player.

We want to accomplish a more seamless process by importing a time text file or xml file with time codes established outside of captivate and have them imported into captivate and "talk" to captivate time codes to create the closed captioning lines on each audio and video element.

We looked into exporting captions, but we would need to already know how many lines of closed captioning is needed on each audio clip as well as the ID that Captivate creates for each in order to add them to the exported Word doc. then import back in.

Looking to contact Captivate for this as well or to see if we can hire someone to create javascript each page would call up at certain time codes to display the closed captioning.

Any ideas or advice on 3rd party html5 compatible options, new features being developed, or alternative solutions?

I am working with some variables in advanced interactions and have hit an issue I was hoping someone could help me with.

I am trying to get the variables to display 0.00 using conditional actions. If V_cost is = 0 assign V_cost 0.00 (want the 0.00 to be the displayed value in the box). When doing a calc on the variable of V_costa - V_costb and it equals 0 it won't display as 0.00 even

though the 2 variables are decimal+2 places after it. I was hoping that I could assign it as above if the result was 0 but it didn't work.

Also, some of these are values defined within the variable assignment, others are entered by the learner at run time. can I use the "literal" of these to even manipulate like I am above to use calculations on?

Access cpQuiz variables with javascript

I need to report Captivate Quiz information to a backend server. I'm aware that an LMS would make this trivial but using an LMS is not an option. Also, purchasing a widget is not an option. I've been tasked with making this work only using the core Captivate program.

I have been able to successfully report high level Quiz information via javascript that is run on the Quiz results page. (found the below code online)

Now I need to expand on this by looping through all of the questions, reporting the question, correct answer/s, and the chosen answer/s for each.

I assume this information is held in a multi-dimensional array. Where can I find the variable names or key layout for this array so that I can access them?

Also, could this be made to handle non-question scored interactions like click boxes? I feel like I'd need to access the "Advanced Interactions" information for that part.

How to pull URL parameters into my Captivate 6 flash

I want to be able to parse a parameter being passed in the URL to my Captivate video and then use it after the file is over. e.g. a username that is picked up by another web page. Is there an easy way to do this.

Looking through old posts, is see using the m_MovieHandle as the area to place my flash code, but everything so far I've tried doesn't bring in the variable. I'm kinda new to flash.

Matching multiple Hotspots in Adobe Captivate 6

Finding the difference in two pictures is the main issue here,

One picture on left and one in right. User needs to hit one hotspot on each picture to find identical items...just like spoting out the different parts from two pictures..

Each time user clicks right hotspot then it gets circled and if user manages to click both correct hotspots they get a 'correct' Message appears in a box or any image I want to show(could be arows pointing to both botspots)

I looked for this all over the web but really can never find anythign for last 7 days,,,,,,

Removing Old Advanced Action Scripts and Variables

I am trying to create a course from a predefined template (that I also created) using Captivate 5.5. As I get more into the details of developing the course, I am finding that some of the variables and Advanced Action scripts need to be changed or removed completely. I recreated the variables and scripts using different names then tried to delete the previous ones from my project.

Unfortunately, I cannot remove the previous variables and AA scripts because the system tells me they are being used somewhere. I even deleted one of the slides that is reported in "Usage" for one of the scripts and recreated it from a blank slide using only the variables and AA scripts I created.

The old AA script is still not removable and the usage report shows that it is still being used in the slide that I deleted. The slide is no longer listed in my project but is apparently being kept within the project somewhere. Apparently, there is a separate list of course elements (slides, variables, scripts, etc.) that is being maintained by the system somewhere that I can't find. It appears to be messing with my execution, however, because when some of those old slides are being "hit" the processing of the project goes somewhere other than it is supposed to.

I have gone through every slide in the project - several times - and cannot find anywhere those old AA scripts are being used (I can't delete the old variables because they are being used in the scripts).

Any suggestions on how to go about removing those old scripts and varialbes - and slides that are using them but are no longer in the project?

LMS Window Close (exit button...again)

Yes, I know this is a freq. encountered issue. I thought I had fixed this but apparently that was just wishful thinking.

If I publish my project with the full screen option, the lesson is opened as a child window and the playbar exit button works as advertised; the window closes.

If I enable LMS reporting and perform the same steps, the playbar exit button does not work.

What's up with that? What is it about the published SCORM version that disables the exit button?

Question functionality and 508

Federal client so Section 508 compliance is required. Am using Captivate 2 so this functionality may have improved in version 4.

Adobe claims it has compliant question types in Quiz Manager. The frame has the Accessibility property. However, I am trying to understand how Captivate sets up the tab order of objects. For example, I would like the question number to be read first, then the question type and instructions, then the distractors. So far, I have seen that radio buttons can be navigated with up and down arrows and matching fields can be navigated with the Tab key. However, there does not appear to be alternate keystroke functionality with the question buttons (e.g., Clear, Submit) that would enable the user to tab to the button and press Enter, or an alternate keystroke.

Also, assuming that the user has made a selection among the distractors, can a reader read the feedback that appears?

For Captivate 2, I don't see how Adobe can claim certain question types are accessible if there is no ability to control alternate keystrokes or have text read that is not in the Accessibility pane. If this functionality has improved with version 4, that would be great news.

show button if arriving from specific slide

Greetings!

When teaching a new subject, there is one section in which the student may require remediation from some previous slide.

I would like them to be able to go to that slide and then return to the current slide using a return button, but i only want that button to appear if the student arrived from that other slide.

This is much like the captivate remediation except the student is not arriving from a quiz question.

Any suggestions please?

Publish a Captivate course with HTML5 and Scorm

This is the scenario. We have a Captivate 7 module. One of the slides will have an HTML5 animation on it. The module also has quiz questions. We have used Adobe Captivate 7 App Packager to include the HTML5 animation and publish the course. When we upload the course to our LMS (LearnShare), nothing shows up. If we upload the HTML5 published course without any Scorm settings, it works. But we obviously need the Scorm settings on. Can't figure out how to package this thing to have it include the animation and the Scorm settings and work on the LMS.

Object positioning bug in Captivate 8.0.1

When positioning an object using percentages for top, left, height and width, the numbers often get automatically multiplied by 10 or 100.

The result is that objects become huge, often far outside the screen.

This is the case in Responsive Projects - I didn't check the situation in other types of projects.

Obviously this is a bug, introduced with the latest patch (8.0.1).

Is it possible to request a patch for this patch?

I have more than 10 hours trying to figure out what is the problem. It is a shame that instead of focussing my self in making the job done, I have to focus my self in figure out why it get frozen and crashes.

Lock the progress bar in the playbar (Captivate 8)

I'm looking for a way to lock the progress bar in the playbar in Captivate 8. This has come up a few times in regards to older versions of Captivate, but I haven't seen anything for 7 or 8 yet.

I've tried this: Captivate 6 Help me Lock the Progress Bar in the Playbar, which relates to ver 6, but seemed to kinda do what I'm looking for, but not exactly.

However, the Playbar Lock Widget seems to do exactly what I'm looking for (Flash-Factor » Playbar Lock Widget (Cp5, Cp5.5)) but is for 5 and 5.5 only. According to this threadCaptivate 6 playbar lock, the widget doesn't work on 6, so I assume it doesn't work on 7 or 8, either. I've emailed the developer (Whyves) the other day, but considering the last activity on that site was a couple of years ago, I'm not really expecting a response.

Does anyone know if there is an easy-ish way to do this or if there is an updated version of this widget available?

How do I create multiple TEBs with one submit button on one page in Captivate 7

I've read other posts on this topic (which refer primarily to earlier versions of Captivate) and am still at a loss as to how to put multiple text entry boxes on a page with one submit button. Here's my scenario:

I am creating test questions.
Each test question has multiple text entry boxes (for numbers only).
Student should be able to enter numbers into the textboxes in any order.
Then there is one Submit button that should initiate validating all the text entries, and move to a scoring page (so I can test it). (What would be best is if this button not only did the above, but also submitted scores to the LMS. But that is not my question at this time.)
I'd like this question to be set up as a template so that I can duplicate it, be able to add or delete text boxes and change the values required in the text boxes.

Here is an image of a sample question page with multiple TEBs. The yellow boxes tell the student where they need to enter text:

Hello all:

I am just getting the hang of Advanced Actions and I am having trouble trying to utilize the Javascript Window.

I have three captivate variables v_Var1, v_Var2, and v_Var3.

I am trying to create a JavaScript function in the Javascript window to concantonate these into one variable v_AllResponses.

Is there an example of such a script out there and can you point me to it?

I have looked but so far no luck.

Hi everyone,

So I have done endless searching and research and I am running out of ideas. I will describe my current state and what I am looking to do -

I am building training modules that are being published out across the nation for delivery. I am using Captivate 6 and I am pulling together different forms of media such as graphics, audio, video and animation. I currently have a Private Video Management System through AT&T & QUMU players. The issue that I am constantly running into is certain skips, pauses and buffering times within my module. I am insert video via Progressive Download. My Video Management System has a transcode system that takes the videos I have and transcodes them into the following settings -

Dimension - 720-405

Bitrate - 644

FPS - 30

Audio Bitrate - 48

Audio Type - Mono

So these are settings that our management program transcodes the videos down to. Now heres the thing, if I open this video directly through HTML the video loads fine and no skips or pauses, when I insert this video into a Captivate module the video skips, pauses and cuts off content involved. So after doing research I had seen that someone recommended to cut the videos down to the following quality.

Dimensions - 720-405

Bitrate - 250

FPS - 15

Audio Bitrate - 48

Audio Type - Mono

So at first it seemed like we were going to notice a massive difference in video playing. The downside is we did not see that large of a difference. What I am looking for is work around or something that I might possibly be able to do to display these videos flawless. Is there anyway to stick a preloader on progressive download videos in captivate? is there a way that captivate can notice the buffering time, or loading for a progressive download so it does not cut off content or pause? Captivate 6 playbar lock

I have a project that I would like the next/forward button inactive until the slide has finished. There is a widget out there that hides the next button until slide has finished, this is exactly what I need except that it does not work with Captivate 6. Can anyone help me with how to make this happen or even direct me to a widget that will make this possible?

You may be thinking - that's great but Captivate doesn't publish for Tin Can.

Well, I'm here to tell you about a litle project that aims to allow you to take Captivate swfs and drop them into a Tin Can package that will communicate with the LRS. I've so far developed a proof of concept - a Captivate swf that reports to a TIn Can LRS and also successfully bookmarks. Its far from being a finished product and there's a lot of stuff like hard coded variables and missing functionality, but the basics are there.

Replaying Current Page in Captivate 5.5

Hi there

We need to be able to replay a slide, however, we do not seem to be having much success from trying to do this.

We have the slide playing, with audio. We can get it to go back to the beginning of the slide, BUT we cannot seem to restart the audio from the beginning - not rebuild the content on screen.

Do you have any pointers please?

Issue with looping swf animation - conflicting settings

I have a captivate project where I use a click box “stop” to inhibit the slide from moving to the next slide. (The click box set to no action, pause until user clicks.)

This forces the user (using the player control) to click the “forward” button to advance to the next slide. This is by design.

I have a Flash swf file embedded in one of the slides. This Flash file does not have a stop function. It is meant to continuously play (loop). I also have this Flash file set to loop in the Captivate project file.

The problem is this…

The click box “stop” (pause until user clicks) seems to be causing the SWF animation file to stop at the end of the slide. I want it to keep playing.

Does anyone have any idea as to how to do this? Is it even possible since I am essentially giving conflicting commands?

I suppose I could embed another SWF file (that would command the Captivate slide to stop) but I am unsure how to script the swf to pause the Captivate project. I could also use an animated gif, but I would like to use a swf file if possible.

Any ideas?

cpInfoCurrentSlide undefined while cpInfoCompany is defined

I have been struggling with this for two days, and tried this forum post http://forums.adobe.com/message/2322228#2322228, but cpInfoCurrentSlide still comes back as undefined in my variable

I have an as2 Widget installed on a Captivate 4 [trial] slide to just display the current slide number in a field labeled d_Slide. Here's my code:

cSlide = _root.movie.cpInfoCurrentSlide;

d_Slide.text = cSlide;

And I have tried all these conditions below, and you can see that I can access cpInfoCompany, and rdinfoSlideCount, but I can't access cpInfoCurrentSlide no matter how hard I try.

cSlide = 1; //works

cSlide = mainmov.cpInfoCurrentSlide; //no good

cSlide = _root.movie.cpInfoCurrentSlide; //no good

Passing Captivate Variables to Embedded swf's.

Does anyone know how to pass a Captivate variable to an embedded swf? I'll elaborate on our situation for more clarity. Ultimately we want to use Captivate to create Scorm packages for use in Moodle. In this particular case, we have a Captivate project in which we have multiple slides. On each slide we want to import a swf that we have created in Flash. Now this Flash swf is set up to parse an external XML file, determine what slide the swf is on and then play the correct video for that slide. This file has a list of video locations (URL) and is organized by slides. The issue we are hung up on is how to pass the Captivate variable (cpInfoCurrentSlide) for the current slide to the embedded swf. Does anyone have any insight?

Mute all audio in Captivate

I am new to the forum and captivate so first of all hello to all.

I have a captivate project with several externally source swf files inserted. I have no control over these apart from permission to use them.

My problem is that they have audio on them that I do not wish the viewer to hear, I know if I use a playback control the viewer can click on the mute button and the sound stops, what I am trying to achieve it to start the entire demonstration with audio muted and no playback controls visible.

I keep seeing references to the command, cpCmndMute, but I cannot find how to use it within Captivate.

Please can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Captivate 4 Tutorial Widgets - How to use checkboxes?

I'm looking for basic tutorials on how to use some of the widgets such as checkboxes. For instance, if the user makes a choice with checkbox how can you get it to go to particular slide.

I don't see anything from the checkbox showing up in advanced interactions. How exactly would they work? I would love some examples in a captivate project!

Is there a way to create a random variable in Captivate?

I want to create a screen where items appear randomly on the screen for the user to click. Is there any way to do this using variables?

I think I can get round it by creating an advanced action which reads

If "Variable" = "?" then show "Item" etc etc

I just can't find a way to produce a random value.

On a second point, can I format a variable to be displayed in a certain format, ie to 2 decimal places or to show seconds as 00, 01, 02 etc rather than 0, 1, 2

Send Drag Source to Original Position - no response

I'm getting great answers here, so....

I've created a drag and drop in which student drags three different types of fractions into the correct drop targets.

I've checked 'send drag source to original position but the drag object stays wherever it is put. I would like it to pop right back immediately if dragged to the incorrect drop target.

Is there something else to be done to make the drag source pop right back to its original position immediately if not dropped into the correct drop target?

Hand cursor over 'Next' rollover button and text caption error message

I have a template I must adhere to. It has Back and Next buttons with a hover state.

I need a text entry box on screen to simulate the user entering text in a form field.

If the Next button is clicked and the text field is empty or incomplete I want an error message to popup. If the text field is completed correctly the Next button will go to next slide.

Unfortunately I need BOTH the hover state and hand cursor on the next button.

Ive tried a few scenarios and below is an example of one:

- add text entry and delete text entry button

- add text caption called errorMessage

- create variable called nextButtonIncrement

- create a conditional action called checkTextCaption to run on screen entry

- increment Next button by 1 when clicked

- action checks if button has a literal of 1 or more, and if text caption has correct literal (i.e. text).

- if true move to next slide

- if false show error message

The problem with the above is the error message appears on slide entry. I only want it to appear when the user clicks Next AND the text entry caption does not have MESSAGE in it. Im currently trying an AND OR conditional action, but am wondering if anyone knows if I am wasting my time or not.
