I would like to ask for help in planning a Bridge script.

I am a beginner Photoshop and Bridge developer.

Script behavior:

Check for selected thumbnail

Open the selected thumbnail/s from Bridge in Photoshop.

Run a set of Photoshop actions

Save the changes to the file

Close the file

How do I approach these tasks programmatically?

What are the sequence of events to necessary to execute the script?

Applying photoshop scripting as a model I can come up with this sequence which can be scripted with the if else statement.

The goal of the adaptation is to include a javascript Folder dialog to set the save folder destination at run time and

use this folder destination for the remaining script batch processing functions.

Presently, the script loads a Bridge stack as Photoshop layers and saves the layered tiff using the Folder dialog.

The folder dialog is manifesting every time the script encounters a Bridge stack.

The question is what is the correct script logic to set the destination folder once at run time and keep this destination

I'm looking for somebody who can write a script for Bridge that will allow me to export specific XMP Metadata fields to either a spreadsheet or XML document. I have 1,000's of files I need to retrieve the metadata for, I'd prefer a script that can do them all in a batch. Can anybody either help me, or direct me to somebody who can help me?

Hello,

I need to create a process of copying the filename of a tiff to the description in that same file's iptc. Ideally i'd like to be able to drop the script in to an Apple Automator process, but that would be a luxury. There's also an extra catch: i need the script to replace "=" with ":" and to add a prefix, for example "CMS:"

Here's an example:

It seems a faily basic process but i don't know where to start with this scripting business... Any help or advise would be much appreciated! Perhaps you know of a really similar one that i can modify??

Hello Everyone, I am brand new to scripting and need some help... I would like to create an inter-application javascript (.jsx) file that will perform the following steps in sequence:

1) Target Bridge CS3 and:

a) Automatically select files (thumbnails) (the names of, and path to these files never change so scripting them is no problem). Path & Files are: C:\files\1.psd, C:\files\2.psd and C:\files\3.psd.

b) Run Tools > Illustrator > Live Trace [Live Trace Dialogue Box Settings (Tracing Preset: Color 16, Save & Close Results (checked), Document Profile: "Basic RGB", Width: "576", Height: "720", Units: Pixels, Destination: "C:\files\, File Naming: Document Name + .ai)].

After Live Trace finishes, C:\files\1.ai, C:\files\2.ai and C:\files\3.ai are created.

and then....

2) Target Illustrator CS3 and:

Run my Illustrator precreated Action: "Add Border". This action adds a precreated border to the files. The action is coded with the paths and file names of the .ai files as well as saving instructions.

To summarize:

1) In Bridge, run Live Trace on precreated .psd files

2) In Illustrator run an action on the files that were live traced

That's it. It seems straight forward when I write it out but trying to figure out how to script it is boggling my mind.

So I have a UI with a button that when clicked it skips to the next folder. This works if you have consecutive folder numbers but sometimes the numbers are not consecutive. I need a way to select whatever is next. I will give you a snippet of what i am currently doing.

I am trying to connect to a local database. I can use the terminal to execute commands to the database that work. The trick is that I am having difficulty sending those commands from bridge. This is what I have tried.

Extendscript Toolkit targeting Bridge, does'nt read text file content. Bug?

When I load a file xml and read its contents, it only works from Bridge on windows7

But when I run the code to Bridge from Abobe Extendscript Toolkit targeting Bridge, it does'nt read the fole content ( fileXMLtoParse.read() )

Is this a bug, or there is a work arround?

Help Getting Started with Bridge Scripting

I'm trying to learn enough about scripting to understand/modify some simple Bridge scripts, but can't seem to find the proper documentation. I have downloaded the Bridge SDK, have the documents for Adobe Intro to Scripting, Adobe Bridge CS5 javascript Guide and Javascript Reference Manual, and a general Javascript manual. But I can't find where BridgeTalk commands (such as send, onResult, and remote Photoshop calls) are described, as well as many other commands like push, localize, or the use of $ signs.

Can anyone point me to reference materials I would need to learn these things??

Viewing keywords for Illustrator files

I have been using this applescript to add keywords to a .tif file, and I want to expand the workflow to include Illustrator files. Problem is, the keywords that the script adds to an Illustrator file are not visible in Bridge! If I call up the exif metadata, the Keywords field contains the correct information, but any keywords I've added in Bridge are located under the "Subject" and "Heirarchical Subject" fields. I'd assumed that .ai files' metadata was organized in the same way as a .tif file, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Thoughts?

I'm working with a script to assign a string (in this case, the color of the product in the image) to the description field in the image's metadata. It would save time on the layout side by taking advantage of InDesign's live caption capabilities. I'm processing the selections with a for loop, and the script will either work, or return an error: "XMP Exception: LFA_Close: FSCloseFork failure" I can't reliably duplicate the error, sometimes I can process all the images, and other times it errors out after the first one. Does anyone have a description of the error, and/or any suggestions on how to fix it?

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for me: All our product images are named with a 9-digit ID number. All the item numbers and product information (name, color, gender, category, view, etc.) are stored in an Excel workbook for each photoshoot. Typically, we generate a list of keywords from the excel doc (using applescript), then import that list into Bridge before manually assigning keywords to each image. This seems like a perfect opportunity for automation. Is it possible for Bridge to open the Excel doc, find the cell with the name of the image, and assign the associated keywords from the same row? seems easy enough, but I'm not sure where to start.

There's not a way to do this in Bridge, but maybe there is a way to script it?

I've never used a Bridge Script but would love to how to implement them, if I can get a script to do this...

I need to Import multiple files into an existing photoshop file (with a predetermined size ) as smart object layers in photoshop.

The options that Bridge currently offers falls short in 2 area

Load Files into Photoshop Layers-- does not import smart objects and creates a new photoshop file that ends up being as large as the largest imported file
Place into Photoshop--only lets you do one at a time

I need "Place into Photoshop" with multiple files

Is there a way to do this?

Hello.

I am a wedding albums designer and i can't work in photoshop unfortunately without same options.

A. I need a short cut in Bridge for option file>place>place in photoshop.

It's puts photos to the template document directly and make it smart obgect.

B. marking the used photos from bridge to photoshop - for example ctrt
+6 mark with red color.

C. less important, hold by default proportion of image - ctrt+T without shift.

For this things I need some script and changes in bridge and
photoshop, and i ask if you have it or can do it, or have another
solusion for this purpose?

It will be very useful and allow to me and many ather designers work
qukly in photoshop.

I really saffer without these options in Bridge and Photoshop.

Output panel Bridge CS4 is blank

In Bridge C4 the output panel is blank. No option to make contact sheets or a web galery.

I enabled the startup script for the output module, I have reset all the preferences (ctrl at startup fo Bridge) and I reset the standard workspace. I also reinstalled CS4. Updated etc. Nothing worked.

When I look in the folder startup scripts I see no file at all.

Can someone help me?

I have downloaded a script for Bridge from Studio Exchange and need to install it. I have placed the start up .JSX file in the library>application support>adobe>startup script and the script doesn't work. I'm not a programmer and the reference document http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/pdfs/bridge_javascript_ref.pdf is not much help to me. Any suggestions? Thanks, Siamack

Bridge CS2 InDesign Contact Sheets

I create Contact Sheets in InDesign through Bridge (CS2) for EPS files many times a day. To get the EPS files to import to the contact sheet I have to add the file type to the File Type Filter (under Files...) every time I create a contact sheet. Is there a way of changing the script so that the EPS files will automatically be included in the File Type Filter? I have no experience with scripting and am having a hard time finding information on this topic.

I use a custom script to batch process files into photoshop layers.

Every time I run the script I have to manually edit the folder path in the script to save the new images in a new folder.

Can a UI dialog be implemented into a script used for batch file processing?

The UI dialog:

Enter folder path

Remember the last folder path used

When the scripts runs the UI dialog displays. After the user enters the folder path the the scripts batch processes a folder of images.

FlashExportToJepg sample script not working

I need to produce screenshots of swf files. I'm having no luck getting the FlashExportToJepg script, included in the Adobe Bridge CS6 SDK, working. It doesn't error, it just doesn't produce the jpeg.

I wrote this short script to try to identify the problem. It produces a jpeg from the preview when an image is selected – but not for a swf.

I am using a custom Bridge script to load stacks into photoshop layers.

Every time I run the script I have to change the folder path manually to save the images in a new folder.

I would like to find out if a UI dialog can be used with the script to edit the folder path.

The UI dialog would offer to use the previous folder path or to enter/select a new folder location.

I have not been able to incorporate the core Javascript class Folder successfully with the Bridge script.

The scripts hangs, does not complete when I add the core JS Folder class.

How do I approach building a script UI in Bridge?

Are there any simple Bridge script UI samples available to deconstruct?

I would like to create a Smart Collection that finds all of the image files linked to InDesign documents in a specific folder.
I am the yearbook advisor at school and I need to easily find all of the images that have been placed so that we don't reuse images by mistake.

I have no scripting experience, so I can't create something myself, and I haven't been able to find anything that does such a thing.

Many yearbook design software programs do offer something like this - indicating that an image has been used previously.

I guess it would need to look at the metadata of the InDesign Files for the Linked Files and then pit all of the files found there into a Smart Collection. Ideally, I would be able to further limit it by file type. ANd to not include Master pages if so desired (although that would just be a bonus!)

Where is stored the Folder label registry location?

When I put a red label on a File that has xmp metadata, I can retrieve these values later and this will be stored in the file or in a side-car xmp file.

But Folder can't have xmp.

In this case, where is stored this info about the color label of a Folder? Only in cache? Is there a hidden file ( like, for example ".Bridgesort" hidden file for manually sorted items)

I noticed that I I label a folder in a common accessed network from computer A, I can retrieve that value from another computer B by rebuilding the cache parent folder of the labeled folder.

It can't be the file C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6\Cache\data\store because it is inacessible from other computers on network.

So is must be some hidden file on the same directory of the labeled folder.

How to select and display a collection

Hello,

I wrote a script that builds collections from seach results - all working as expected.

The part that I didn't figure out was how to select and display the collection after it has been created.

I couldn't find a document method for it, .active or .focus don't seem to work.

Delete nodes in separate folder from viewed thumbnails

I want to delete part of this tree. I have a folder that has multiple folders inside it. One specific folder needs to be emptied after the operator clicks a button. Do I need to create thumbnails for all of these files to delete them. Or can I just use their file strings and use app.deleteCollection?

Bridge and network drive

I am planing to set up a Drobo network drive and three mac work stations with PSCC and BRCC.

Can Bridge run as a network application?

In other words if the source files live in the network drive, when computer A makes a Br collection,

do computers B and C see the same Br collection?

When computer B labels a files do computers A and C see the same label?

When computer C makes a PSCC edit do computer B and C see the updated image preview?

BW work space

I have a need to sort color images by contrast. I find this task more efficient when looking at a BW version of the color image.

Can a BW work space be created through scripting?

Is there a way to turn the thumbnail view into BW in Bridge?

Sorry for this really basic question but I cant seem to find an answer (and I promise I have looked).

Ive got a script for bridge from ps-scripts.com that takes the file name and inputs it into the headline metadata, or any other stated part of the metadata (so I can use live captions in Indesign without seeing the file extension).

However, I have not got a clue how to run this script from bridge.

Everything I have seen says its a bridge script not a photoshop script, or are they run the same way?

ScriptUI edittext scrollbar problem with Bridge CC Mac

Hello,

With Bridge CC for Mac, in the UI, the scrollbar which come with edittext and multiline option, is not active.

The scrollbar on the right appears by typing text or ENTER, but not by scripting.

Copy keywords into title field, keep in keywords field

I have this script that works in cs5, but it is not working in CS6- I am going to try to modify it to copy the keywords into the title field, but also drop the ";" and replace with a ","

Can you import metadata from an excel database to images (JPG, PSD, TIF) in bulk?

I am very new to working with metadata. I have a microsoft excel file with the IPTC Core fields I need for each image file.

(Creator, Headline, Description, Keywords, Title, Job Identifier, Credit Line, Source, Rights Usage Terms, Copyright Status and Copyright Notice)

Is there a way to get the metadata into the files without having to copy from a cell into each metadata field individually?

I am hoping some for sort of script, possibly...

Also, if only ONE of these fields needed updating in all of the files (i.e. Rights Usage Terms) can that be done?

Bridge looses cache folder tree window when I rename parent folder

I managed to activate the code to change the name of the parent folder containing some images (I put an underscore before de parent folder name).

When I did it by hand, the folder and subfolders I was navigating on were visible on the folder window (left side)

But I lose the navigation of folders in the left window when I do exactly the same by code.

Thus far I have been tinkering with a few of these… What Im not able to find is there a method where I can read a file just the once to parse data for the key value pairs… All I can get back is 'String' no objects, arrays… At present I have to do this once for each and that seems like a lot of waste… time & repetitive code. My concern is while it works with small test files when they get larger it may be too slow to be of use… TVM

I have a folder that contains 4 subfolders and in total 2500 jpg's

In this folder I would like to find 800 filenames that I have in an excel sheet.

Example of a filename is: 678211_103.jpg and all filenames are unique.

Is there a way to do this automatically?

Exporting File Dimensions to File

Hi,

I have approximately 65,000 images for which I need to catalogue filenames and pixel dimensions into an Excel spreadsheet. I am using Bridge CS5, and I can see a field containing pixel dimensions, but I can't seem to find a script that will export this field into a file with the associated filenames. There are some useful scripts that will export IPTC and EXIF metadata, but I really just need to compile the filenames and pixel dimensions.

If you know of any scripts or free software solutions it would be greatly appreciated.

Export multiple image metadata to single XML or CSV file

Hey Guys and Gals, I need an export script but with a variant.

Using Bridge CS4 I need to export the metadata from a directory of files to a XML file. And I want all the metadata, not just part of if as the Web Galleries do.

I need this file so in Dreamweaver I can create a Spry data set. Adobe seems to have forgotten that to use a XML file as a data set you need to create it first! I am not going to sit here and manualy type and create a XML file for a directory of 800 TIF images (3.2 gigabyte). I already did that in creating the metadata!

Their kind of like me at times, can't see the forest for the trees. Or, conversely, they've sold you the car but forgot to give you the keys to it.

Now to truly make this script useful give the user the option to create a CSV or XML file! This should be coded into Bridge!!!
