Is Story Plus a part of Creative Cloud or not?

Everything I read on Adobe.com indicates Story Plus is included in Creative Cloud. However, when I try to access it from CreativeCloud.com I get Story Free. I started a chat with Adobe, and I was told I need to subscribe separately for Story Plus.

Which is it? And if it is included, how do I fix my problem and get access to Story Plus?

Have a script for an animation, written in AV format, so that specific shots and dialog can be sync'd. However, I can't generate any lists or reports anything from this AV script. Want to make a breakdown of all locations, all characters, and all other tagged assets (I can't tag anything in this format either). Is this going to be addressed or do I have to duplicate work by writing things out in a screenplay or teleplay format (less useful for this type of project) just to get the breakdowns created? If I do have to do the latter, is there a way to convert AV to screenplay without just retyping the whole thing?

copy paste not working

I'm not able to copy and paste any text at all. When I uset the Flash menu it gives the second screen shot errror. When I use Ctl-C it copies, but Ctl-V doesn't paste. Any ideas?

When I launch Story (Free) from the desktop dock (Mac / Yosemite), I cannot log in or update, and receive the attached error. I've contacted Adobe by email twice and by phone twice - the chat reps say I have to contact the phone reps, and the phone reps say I have to contact the chat reps. Hurumf. What is the workaround here?

A TV series I'm hoping to write for uses Adobe Story and, having spent a while using the free browser version, I've just gone for a monthly subscription - partly to have a separate desktop client, and partly because I hoped that this would bring Story's copying and pasting conventions into line with other Windows programs (e.g. Final Draft and Word, both of which I have used extensively over many years). I've never used Ctrl-x, Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v for pasting, preferring to select text with mouse or keyboard, right click copy or cut, and then paste with shift-Ins (0 on the numpad).

But even in Story Plus there are no editing functions if one selects text and then right clicks, and neither does shift-Insert work. I'm forced to use Ctrl-x, Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v, as per the Web version. Is there any way round this? Is this going to be enabled in a future version? At the moment, I must say, it's hard to see the subscription surviving into a second month - it's great having a desktop client, but it's no easier to use than the free version.

When importing a German script into Adobe Story Free the umlauts get messed up. They are left out or are shown as signs then. This happens with PDFs and .mmsw files.I am using PC. IS this only affecting the free Version or is Adobe not ready for German?

Any word on Adobe Story support for Chromebook or Android? From what I understand ChromeOS is not much more than an HTML5 browser? I want to get one of the new 8 hour Haswell powered Chromebook laptops this Holiday season under $300. I can understand delaying Adobe Story development on ChromeOS as it is still very small, but Android? There's over 1.5 million Android activations everyday. That's more than the entire population of Canada every month:) .. hard to understand turning a blind eye to these numbers much longer.

Adobe Story does not allow log in anymore

I have used Adobe Story since the beta came out and enjoyed using it.

Recently, it became impossible for me to access the application, it says I need to update to a plus account. I then try to log in on offline mode, but it says Adobe ID is unavailable in offline mode.

I do not understand why it would do this. The free account was supposed to let me use the application, but I would need a plus account to sync over the web. At least that is what I understood when the program became a paid program.

My question is why can I no longer access the program. I have a lot of information in it that I need and I cannot even get in offline. This is very frustrating.

I am on a mac book pro, latest version, I am trying to go online, work online, in order to sync with the cloud so my writing partner can see the latest draft. never had an issue before and now it won't go online. I have signed out, closed the app, signed back in, tried different wi-fi's etc etc. nothing is working and I am needing to force quit the app because it is just not responding. I get the spinning beach ball.

Adobe Story and Standard Screenplay Format

First of all, I would like to say that I love Adobe Story.

But I’ve just been reading “The Hollywood Standard” by Christopher Riley and I noticed that there are some elements of the standard that can’t be done in Adobe Story.

Scene Continueds. These should be able to be turned on and off, but according to Riley are required when scene numbers are added. When a scene goes over a page break:
1. The word (CONTINUED) should be aligned right before the page break, and:
2. The word CONTINUED: should begin the next page, and if scene numbers are turned on should be numbered. If it is the second page break in a scene it should read “CONTINUED: (2)”, etc.
Numbering on both sides. Scene numbers should be able to be set to go on both sides of a scene. This is standard practice, as some people have pointed out previously.
Dual dialogue. This one’s a big one.
Shot and scene heading should never be the last thing on the page.
The first page of the screenplay (that is, the one after the title page), should not be numbered.
The ability to add multiple columns on the title page.
When a series of scenes in a row are omitted, only one scene heading should be included:

There’s also a couple of things that you can do, but I’d prefer to be able to automate.

Pages should break at the end of a sentence.
With things like lyrics and poetry, if a line is too long for the dialogue, it should be indented. As is stands you are not able to add a hanging indent to a paragraph, and have to do it manually by adding a line break and a couple of spaces.

Most of these – with the exception of 3 and 4 - don’t matter to me at this stage. But if I ever start working professionally I’d like to be able to continue to use Adobe Story, so I hope the Adobe staff is working to implement these options. If you can do any of these things, let me know how .

I am on a Mac running OS 10.10 (Yosemite). I was able to access Story in Chrome and sign in successfully. I downloaded the desktop version which required updating Air (which I did) and now when I launch Story on my Mac I get message saying that the application needs to update. So I try to update it but I get a message that says:

"Sorry, an error has occurred.

The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem. The certificate does not match the installed application certificate, does not support application upgrades, or is invalid. Please contact the application author."

Then I click Close and it relaunches the Story launch screen and again the update pop-up pops up and if I click later the pop-up goes away. If I then try to sign in (I am a CC subscriber) I get an error that reads:

"Error

Failed to connect to services. Do you want to login in offline mode?" No or Yes

I click Yes and nothing happens.

The online version seems to work in Chrome but I am really more interested in the desktop version. I realize this software is classified as beta but I'd still expect it to function at least a little bit. Right now I can't use the desktop version at all. I'd appreciate any help.

I can't find my Adobe Story offline files

Hey ya'll!

I can't find my adobe story plus offline files. I had to clean everything off my computer - because it had to get fixed. So I backed everything off the computer with windows easy transfer on a external hard drive. When I put it back on the computer, and reinstalled story, my offline files were gone. How do I find these? Thanks for your time!

I am attempting to Import a .pdf version of my script. I also tried a .doc version. It only imports the 1st page and then give an error stating 'failed to import document'. Hi There,

Started using Adobe Story Plus to collaborate with a writing partner. Here a few requests/observations in my short time using it. I'm working mainly in the desktop app but have most the same issues in browser:

1. Copy/Paste hotkeys typically don't function - I have to manually go to the menu and select copy then paste. This is the only application I have this issue.

2. Spell check is pretty poor - often doesn't give suggestions on minor misspellings.

3. Dual Dialogue Function

4. Google Docs Collaboration Functionality - Two users log into the same document and can see one another type and make changes in real time. This is what makes Google Docs such a powerful tool for teamwork and it'd be great to get it in a script writing application.

5. Multiple tabs - It'd be nice to have multiple projects open at once in tabs, the UI implies this is possible but it's not. I currently work by having a browser open with one project and the desktop version with another.

6. Delete Remembered Names - When entering a character name Story assists by suggesting character names that start with similar letters. An annoying aspect is if I enter the name with a typo and then go back and change it, Story will remember and suggest both the proper name and the typo name. It'd be helpful to be able to delete names from the suggestion list. I created an entire new document to get around this issue.

Adobe Story TV Script--Question

Can someone answer some question about Adobe Story Free? I am use to using the typical screenwriting format. But I wanted to try my hand at creating a TV drama script. When I clicked on project, and then new--it allows me to click on TV screenplay/drama. Yet, when the format appears it is sooo different from the film script format. Is this just on my adobe story or universal? Also, I have read some books on TV drama scripts and viewed TV scripts in these books, but I have not seen this format before. I guess my next question should be is--should I just type my script under new film script, and then see if this will convert over to the TV drama script format? Or is there any tutorials that actually walk you through creating a TV drama script. Most of the videos I have viewed for Adobe Story seem to bypass this, and focus on the advanced Adobe Story product. I'm getting a little disappointed at this point, and I'm new at this, so please bear with me.

I started to pay for the Adobe Story Plus app so I can do my scriptwriting. On the free version it is limited to the UK formatting that is on most of their programming. However, when I purchased the online program it is still stuck in the UK. Even the BBC has adapted the US standard of writing a script, so I cancelled paying for it. Has anyone had issue with this and how did you solve it?

unable to launch adobe story app, because adobe air installer fails

Hi,

I am having problems launching the adobe story app. Everytime I try to open it it tries to update and it then launches the adobe air installer which always fails and I get the following message: Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.

If I close the message it launches Adobe Story and it happens again, and it goes into an endless loop.

I've re-installed the latest version of Adobe air on my computer, and it still happens. I am able to login to Adobe Story on the webrowser but there's a lot of files missing. From reading the discussions I'm thinking this might be because its a free account, and the app is no longer available, and since it didn't sync for a long time.

If this is the case, is there a way to recover the missing files without upgrading to a paid account?

I don't want to pay for an account and discover that the files are still missing.

or is this a completely different issue?

in case this information is relevant I use an iMac with Mac OS X version 10.7.4, 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory.

How to install Adobe Story CS6?

Hi Everyone,

I upgraded to Creative Suite 6 Production Premium, but cannot find any way to have Adobe Story's desktop app let me log in. I uninstalled it, but now I don't know how to re-install it and let me log in.

I've re-installed Premier Pro CS6, which did not re-install it either. I tried chat support, but they told me to file a ticket online-which I can't do since I don't have a support agreement as I'm a regular-joe user.

I'm weary of phone support being able to answer this question too. This is not a good execution for a product I was really looking forward to using...

Adobe Story - All scripts missing

I have been working on multiple scripts for quite some time, saving frequently. Today, Adobe story updated and now ALL my scripts are missing. The only script that is still there is the sample script, which I deleted long ago. It's like it reset to default settings.

I have made sure I was logged into the correct account, and tried logging in on the desktop and online versions. Anyone else have this problem or a solution??

Instead of a 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. format of numbering there are random sub numbers. Like this, 1, 2, 2A, 2B, 3, 4, 5, 5A.... etc. It seems to be random and I can't get it to go away. Please help me format my script so that this doesn't happen. I have never had this problem before.

I have just started using Story.

Earlier today I worked on a script using the desktop app. When I finished I saved it and shut down.

Later in the day I opened the desktop app on another computer expecting the script to be there but it wasn't there. There was an old "_backup" version from much earlier (i.e. no good to me as it was not up to date). There were also a couple of reports I had generated that had references to items that were in the latest version of the script so I know it must be/have been there in some form.

Where might I find the script?

Greek support in Adobe Story Plus

I'm a paying member of the Creative Cloud and love the products. Before starting my membership, I had tried using Adobe Story (the free version) but quickly realized Greek is not supported. While one can change the default font to Myriad, which supports Greek, this only is true for the main writing area, since all other areas and options (like the Scene summaries on the left, or any kind of exporting) don't support the language.

Sadly, this is what the case for all popular screenwriting applications; none supports Greek, except for Fade In (which you can't say is an industry standard). And I'm not talking about the interface, but for the actual writing and exporting capabilities. I understand that the Greek customers are nowhere near the number of English or French speaking ones. But isn't that a bit unfair? I mean, we all pay the same, so we all have the right to be able to use the applications we're paying for. I'd also love to make use of the connection between Story and Premiere Pro, which I can't do right now.

And my question, of course, is: are there any plans to partially or fully support non-Latin languages and particularly Greek on Adobe Story in the near future? And if there aren't, why not?

Change comments color?

I'm working with an AV Script (two columns) in Story Plus. I am adding some comments to certain parts of the dialogue, and am finding that all the yellow underlining is becoming a bit confusing as to which comment it applies to. Is there a way to change the color of the comment box and underline so that the underlined dialogue can quickly be identified with comment? Thanks!

When I try to "work online" from the desktop app, I get asked to log out of offline, then log into online. When I put in my username and password, it gives me the error "Login error. Please contact the Admin." I've clicked the link "Trouble logging in?" and followed instructions to reset my password, which I successfully reset to a new one. I still get the error.

I have a subscription to Adobe Story Plus and am working offline/online using the desktop app. I haven't logged in to sync my documents in about a month. My account is in good standing (paid 2 weeks ago according to my account transactions screen). I'm now trying to collaborate, so it's important that I be able to sync.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've researched other discussions concerning lag issues (and I see that it is, unfortunately, quite common), but I am compelled to ask a question concerning my own situation.

The lagging is insanely ridiculous. Cannot get any work done. Lets say, you take an hour to make progress on a script. You do 1 minute of work, and are forced to wait almost 5 minutes for the lagging to ease up.

For every minute you use, that is 5 minutes of lag. Lets do the math here, guys.

(1/5 = 6 minutes of work completed & 54 minutes lagging.)

Mmmm, not going to be a Writer waiting for Adobe to get their act together.

I do have Windows xp, and not the sharpest computer, but even staying ontop of which programs are running (etc.), it all boils down to the product. The Adobe Story software.

How can I fix this problem? I've tried implementing other suggestions from other blogs (which unchecking 'outline view' helped momentarily) but there is no relief.

And this issue is serious. (it should be treated as such, but it's not).

Yes, I purchased PLUS in hopes of better performance, but there is none. Online & Offline are working identically.

iPad Adobe Story

Hi, I have installed elite prompt st on my iPad and have registered adobe story online, I have tried to save a full script for a speech so I can use my iPad as a TelePrompter but when I save the script online in adobe story I can see the file on my iPad and the name but when I click on it the contents says "Null" please help as to how I can see my scripts / speech in full for use on my iPad teleprompter app.

Random sections of BOLD font in export?

Hello,

I'm exporting a script to PDF. When I open the Exported PDF, random blocks of text, often just a few words, are marked in BOLD. I have tried exporting a number of times but always get the same result... in the same places. I have never marked any of the text in bold.

Any idea what's going on?

"Revision Mode" includes/marks all changes from previous version... why?

Hello.

I am attempting to launch into a new draft of a script. I only plan on changing certain pages, therefor I want to be able to utilize "Revision Mode" to track the pages that change.

My PROBLEM: when I tell Adobe Story to "Start Revision" on the current script, it goes into Revision Mode, but I noticed that about 90% of the script is ALREADY MARKED UP. All changes I made in the PREVIOUS VERSION of the script are apparently being considered a current change.

In the "Manage Revisions" prompt, I have selected "Active", NOT "All".

Also: This script I am working on, to be absolutely certain not to affect the previous version, I have created from a "Save as Copy" from the previous version. After I initially discovered this "Revision Mode" problem, I also tried doing a "Save as... version" to further separate from the previous version/draft.

Still, when I "Start Revisions" mode, 90% of the script lights up in the page color change and marks most of the lines up.

All I want to do is track my revisions FROM HERE ON FORWARD. Can someone people help me? Thanks!

Adobe Story Desktop Application Won't Install

Hi,

I just recently subscribed to the Adobe Creative Cloud CS6. I'm really interested in owning the Adobe Story desktop application and have attempted to download it by clicking the Install Desktop Application button. Unfortunately, all attempts have failed.

Upon clicking the Install button, I receive a pop-up explaining that I have to install Adobe Air for Story to work. If I click Yes, the window will then say the installation has failed and will ask to Retry. If I do this, the error repeats. How can I get this error to stop appearing?

Please note I have the latest version of Adobe Air already installed on my computer.

I'm going to be honest: I love Adobe Story - but the input lag is incredibly bad. I can't write if I stop-and-start over and over again. For what I do (amateur films), Final Draft 8 is too expensive, and Story seems like the best and brightest of the scriptwriting bunch. But if I can't get the lag down, there's no way that I can write with the flow I'm used to.

Can you PLEASE figure out what the problem is? It seems like this is a solved problem. If MS Word and Google Docs can figure out how to handle the lag, why can't Adobe?

How to read the Pace Graph

I just had a quick and simple questions about how you actually read the Pace Graph. Chalk it up to inexperience or whatever, but there's no clear explanation that I can find in any of the help files that explains how to read it or what is the appropriate pace for certain projects. I personally use Story to write scripts for motion graphics projects, commercials, etc. so I know the pace of my graph will be different from the pace of a movie... or will it?

Adobe Story ULTRA slow since last update

Hi, folks,

the title says it all. Since the last update i can bearly write. Story need up to 8 seconds to write my stuff "after" my fingers leave the keyboard. Even setting the Cursor on any part of my script needs 2 seconds. Its just driving me crazy and I cant work like that.

I'm usng a Core i7 Sandy Bridge, 16gig RAM, SSD, and a 460GTX.

Page Numbers in Adobe Story

I'm writing a script in Adobe Story, but each of my pages has the same number on it, for example 1. How do I default back to having a new page number for each page?
