Hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) or Shift+Command+Option (Mac) prior to launching Flash Professional. If this interferes with an OS dialog, hold this keyboard combination immediately after launching Flash until you see the prompt to reset preferences.

For Flash CS5 and earlier:

Delete user configuration:

Window XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash<version>

Window Vista & Window 7- C:\Users\<username>[AppData]\Local\Adobe\Flash<version>

Mac - Volume/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash<version>

Recreate Flash Professional Preferences

See this TechNote: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/520/cpsid_52048.html

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on Flash Professional forums?

When asking a question on the Flash Professional user-to-user forums, you can make it easier by proactively providing answers to the following questions:

Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)

Please give us more information about your Creative environment:

What version of Flash Professional are you using? And, if applicable, include the minor version number (e.g., Flash Professional CS5.5 with the 10.5.1 update).

What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac". Also, see this page to quickly check if your OS is supported for the version of Flash Professional you are using.

Tell us about your computer hardware. Include CPU type and number of processor cores, amount of RAM installed, GPU, number of disk drives, and how any external drives are connected.

If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?

If you encountered a crash, please upload Flash Professional log files to any free file sharing sites and post a link. Depending on the OS you are using, you will find the crash logs at:

Win: Program Files\Common files\Adobe\Installers or \Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\ApplicationData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\

Mac: /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers or ~/ Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0/

Did you encounter the issue in spite of recreating Flash Professional preferences?

What were you doing when the problem occurred?

Has this ever worked before?

What other software are you running on the system?

Also, do check the Flash Professional FAQs list and also do a quick Flash Professional Community Help search to see if your question has been addressed already.

Adding screenshots and FLAs to your discussions is highly useful and will help fetch an answer faster and easier.

Pencil/Brush Tool Bug with Wacom Cintiq 13HD

Hello everybody,

Today I got a CC abo to use Flash Professional, sadly a bug is occurring.

I downloaded the software today using the Adobe creative cloud software, so it should be up-to-date.

When trying to draw (using a Wacom Cintiq 13hd) a line using the brush or the pencil tool, the line appears at a different spot. When putting the Cintiq pen away from the tablet, the displaced line bends in a straight line towards the spot where my actual pen was placed.

I already tried reinstalling Flash and my (up-to-date) Cintiq driver as well as an older driver version, nothing helped.

When I used the tial version of Flash some months ago this bug did not occur.

It also does not occur when using the mouse to draw or using other software (e.g. Photoshop).

I am using Microsoft Windows 8.1 64 bit.

4 GB RAM.

Intel Core i5-3210M CPU 2.50 GHz

If you need more information, please tell me.

English isn't my mother tongue so I have some problems describing the problem properly, but I hope you get what I mean

I appreciate your help,

Kind regards

Can't stop .swf movie from looping

I just started using glad pro, and I'm trying to make a flash movie for my website silhouetteofscience.com. Now the movie loops continuously, which is really distracting. I want to stop it from looping. I searched the problem on Google and tried editing the last block, as well as changing the action script, but I can only get it to stop looping when I use an HTML wrapper. This is a problem, as I want the video to display directly on my main website page. Any suggestions?

Problem publishing Flash Movie

I have an assignment due for my college web design class in the topic of flash. We had to create these flash movies to show basic skills. I completed the project just fine, and it plays when I test it in flash professional, as well as when I test the publishing of it as HTML. It does not work in any of my browsers after I publish it. My professor of course is non-responsive to my questions.

Other flash movies work in my browser just not these. I am pretty sure the problem comes in publishing it though because it works when I test it. I have Flash Professional CS 5.5 on my home computer. I cannot get a free trial of CS6 because both of my computers run Vista. Is the problem that I have CS 5.5 and not 6?

This doesn’t make sense to me since I have made a flash movie a few years ago on CS5.5 and it still plays to this day? I’m kind of in a panic because my assignment is due this evening, and it won’t publish, yet it works when I test it! My university’s computers have CS6 but I can’t get there in time, I was hoping to hear from the professor, but that’s not happening unfortunately.

I am hoping it is a small error I’m making and not the problem of it not being the latest version of flash.

Here are the videos below. Thank you very much for your assistance.

http://tinyurl.com/o66rbe2

http://tinyurl.com/lwpp379

FAQ: How do I pass variable values from an HTML page to an embedded SWF?

This TechNote has the details:

Use FlashVars to pass variables to a SWF file

Basically, you define the variables and their values within an optional attribute of the HTML <Object> tag called FlashVars. The <Object> tag is the one you use to embed a SWF file in a web page. Then you use ActionScript to access the variables within the SWF file.

Peter DeHaan also has a nice explanation of how to do this here: http://blogs.adobe.com/pdehaan/2006/07/using_flashvars_with_actionscr.html
