Can I install my own SSL certificate for my domain?

You can not host your own certificate on Business Catalyst at this stage.
However, every site comes with a secure URL e.g. yoursite.worldsecuresystems.com. You can find yours listed under Admin -> Manage Domains. So, you get an SSL certificate without having to pay for it every year.

I want to Host a website with BC but host the email with Fasthost, is that possible?

I bought a domain name from Fasthost and set up a website and email account. Since subscribing to Creative cloud I thought it would make sense to host my website in BC as it was free. I cancelled my hosting with fasthost but kept my email there. The email has stopped working and i have been told i need to get BC to redirect the mx records to fasthost ip address, does this make sense to anyone? Am I being stupid? whats the best course of action?

I've been considering upgrading my CS6 to CC.
One thing I am wondering about is should I change my web hosting too, since that seems to come with Adobe CC. I need to decide in the next 2 weeks, since this is when I'm due for renual on my domain name and hosting.

My questions are hopefully simple:

Does Adobe allow me to bring over my already-owned domain name (it's just my surname) and, does Adobe take care of all the emails addresses associated with that domain name?

In other words, I have, "Video@domainname.com" "mjr@domainname," "info@domainname," and about 3 others. Do I still need a domain hosting service for this?

Removing .html extension when using MUSE

After creating my website with MUSE, I uploaded to the Adobe Business Catalyst (BC), but couldn't remove the .html extension. However, if you create a page using just BC, the extension will automatically be gone by default.

Once you've uploaded your MUSE site to BC, edit your page's HTML CODE. At the top of the HTML CODE, remove <!DOCTYPE html>. Also go through the HTML and remove the .html from all links pointing to pages within your website such as "index.html". It would then be just "index". Or "about.html" -> "about". You can leave links pointing to facebook or twitter or anywhere outside of your website alone.

Also you will need to edit the page url name. It will say "http://yourdomain.com/index.html" Just remove the .html. This is located at the top of the edit page page on BC, ***NOT IN THE HTML CODE***.

I'm not sure how to do PHP, but I don't think MUSE creates PHP anyway. Typically you would have to just use the .htaccess Rewrite.

Hello,

I am new business catalyst and web design in general, so bare with me if I don't understand everything you are asking.

I was wondering if Business Catalyst had a history box where I could resort my site back to the way I had it. I was looking around through the pages of my site (trying to change page name "blog" to "projects"), and when I refreshed the page on my site my homepage slideshow, and homepage "text boxes" were gone. I didn't touch any code at all! they just, disappeared. I listed the link to the site below.

A few questions about using the Events Module...

Can I create a custom url for each event?

Can I add an Edge Animate .oam file to event description?

or can I implement html 5 audio/video to events description?

I have added youtube video w/ no problem - so I imagine I can implement sound cloud too - but if I want host my own media is there a way to do that?

I am new here - how come my new MUSE homepage forwarded to my existing domain opens in the old site's index.html?

I am concerned by the 'non help' , customer service platitudes available to me as a customer. I was left 3 minutes to go through auto call filtration to be told that there is no-one to speak to. I am a new customer, clearly I have a different view of what customer service is. I wonder what exec has ever tested this? Anyone in their right mind could see that this is just plain poor and unacceptable.

No a great start, as we stand I will not be recommending this platform within my business community which amounts to 30 companies because I am nervous they will receive the same shoddy service.

Don't worry though, I only have a security breach and need urgent help.

Hi All,

Appreciate if anyone can help. I am building an online gift shop and my customer wants the ability for the regular customers to be able to log in and store their friends and family special dates. For example, Wife's Engagement, Wife's Birthday, Sister etc.. Once these are stored, the customer can log in and simply choose the gift and select "Wife" and it will automatically add in the address details to an order form.

I am thinking to do this as a web app, but i have two main questions:

1. Can a web app be created so that a member can only see and edit those contacts he created?

2. How can an order form capture these details after the memeber selects "wife" etc..

Then further on the back of this, say he adds in wifes birthday into the web app, can this then be used by the email marketing to automatcially send an email to customer to remind him about wifes birthday and order gift?

Does Business Catalyst Web hosting support server side languages, such as PHP, .Net etc

No. You can not run server side code on BC. So, programs written in languages such as PHP, Pear, Python, .Net, etc. can not be executed on our server. Also, we do not allow direct access to the database.

Instead, you have to use built in modules to implement dynamic site functionality in BC.
