Audio Waveforms "disappear"

When I ingest Sony AVCHD files (.MTS) into Prelude, the audio waveforms on one or two will occasionally just "disappear" from view in that file, and indeed tha audio stops at that same point where the waveform stops. (The video plays on just fine.)

Here's a closer view:

However, there is audio on the rest of the file; I know this when I play the same file back in other players like Quicktime or VLC.

If I send the same file to Premire Pro (from Prelude), the same "disappearing" audio waveform shows up again, and behaves the same way in playback (audio stops, but video plays for the whole length of the clip.)

I'm working on an Apple Macbook Pro, running OSX 10.9.2 and pulling the footage in from a 4TB external drive. I am taking care to ingest the full media folder from the camera cards (not just the .MTS files) Removing and re-importing the "problem" files doesn't seem to help. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Markers Greyed Out Part II

I have read most of what is posted on the subject and while it does not make sense to me, it seems with the lack of Adobe response they know there is a problem but don't want to acknowledge it?

Let's look as some specific issues I am facing, can only imagine that I am not alone here?

1. I have Sony EX3 and NX5u footage and both require that I use Sony's proprietary software to get the files off the card or SSD. If you don't you lose the metadata that is already there such as GPS location information and various other data. Also, on clips larger then 2gb (like on longer events with unmanned cameras) you'll have serious issues if you don't let Sony's software ingest the files creating the link between them. And while Sony does not duplicate the files structure, it does copy over the XMP file for each clip.

2. I have several years of footage that has come form these cameras that are NOT in the native file structure - footage that gets used all the time in other various projects.

3. This is not limited to just native M2T files. I have files from HDV tape (Sony A1u and Z7) that were imported digitally as raw M2T files right from Premiere that do not work.

4. GoPro files will not work.

One of the main reasons I went from CS5.5 to 6 was specifically for Prelude so that I could actually orginaze, log, tag and marak my clips before starting a Premier project. I was sold on the fact that this is exactly what Prelude was suposed to to and dipped my cup into the Adobe Kool-Aid tank?

Adobe's own website makes no mention of this serious problem, nor did Richard Harrington, with all his cautions on Lynda, did not bother to mention these issues either? It would have been nice if somewhere relevant we would have been told of what Prelude is and can actually due, rather than what Adobe wants it to be (some day)?

Newbie to Adobe Prelude CC...help please.

I've always used FCP7's Log and Transfer to transcode my AVCHD footage to ProRes 422 to edit on my 2011 iMac. But now I'd love to start using Adobe Prelude instead, if possible to ingest/transcode footage to edit on PrPro CC. I have a few questions...

When transcoding, I see I can rename the clips, but it appears to only give a couple things to pull from the metadata in the renaming process. FCP's version allowed for dozens of naming options. My questions...

1) Is there a way to somehow use the time the clip was shot in the renaming? That way all the clips will be in order regardless of which card they were shot on (all cards have the same numbers starting with 00000.mts as their files names so naming by time would be a great way to order my clips chronologically. I see "date" and "file name" but is that it really for things I can pull from the clip?

2) How do I access the ability to transcode into ProRes? I don't see that option. I see Quicktime, but no ProRes options like I do when I'm using Adobe Media Encoder.

That's all for now. I'm sure I'll be back to learn more.

Thanks.

Live logger not bringing Ipad Timecode into Prelude

When i import the .xmp it seems to loose the "Time of Day" and start at "00:00:00:00", where as the associated text file remebers the time of day in the logging of these marker points, am I missing a setting here? Is there any way for the markers keep their time of day and apply this across a range of clips.. ??(See attached pic)

From the .txt file:

Log Name: Surfing

Log Author:

Log Location:

Timecode of first marker: 20:42:41

Marker: 001

Tags: YELLOW

20:42:41 to 20:42:45 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 002

Tags: description

20:42:44 to 20:42:48 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 003

Tags: Score

20:42:46 to 20:42:50 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 004

Tags: Score

20:42:49 to 20:42:53 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 005

Tags: YELLOW

20:42:52 to 20:42:56 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 006

Tags: WHITE

20:42:55 to 20:42:59 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 007

Tags: Score

20:42:57 to 20:43:01 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 008

Tags: YELLOW

20:43:02 to 20:43:06 (4 seconds)

Comment: <none>

Marker: 009

Tags: <none>

20:43:04 to 20:43:08 (4 seconds)

Comment: Test a comment

Keen to use this software and just want try and iron out any bugs so it works for our workflow

Thanks

Chris

Can I use Prelude on set to automatically backup and ingest my daily's when I connect the SxS card to my Macbook pro? I also need to make a lowres H.264 file on the end of the day containing al of the footage shot that day with timecode burned in. Can I setup Prelude or Encoder to automate this proces? Is it possible to set it up so that all individual clips on the SxS card are put together in one H.264 file with original timecode burned in?
