content on login for the forum

I built a login form for the forum into the dynamic menu for my site, so that when you select 'forum' from the menu, you can log in directly.

What I would like to do is be able to tell when they're logged in already and, if so, have that submenu show a topics list or something (currently it still shows the login even after they're already logged in.) Is there a way to get a forum logged in status that I can add to a template to do this? The only other idea I have would be to call the forum page by ajax and parse the html (which would be different for logged in users as not) but that would be ugly.

Hi,

before re I sign up to BC I want to check if this is possible..I've been told it is if I sign up to the commerce package.

basically I'm setting up a dogs rehoming website. The client will want to upload pics with descriptions themselves...so this would effectively create pages of images when needed...also it would be great to have search fields ie age etc etc

does anyone know if this would be possible?

Hi all, I've been building a "Ride board for students", type Web App, and I'm running into an issue. I have everything else working (Ish) so that a driver or a passenger can post a trip. This means he puts the details of his trip (Portland to Eugene) and then another student comes by and sees that they are going the same way. What I need is a way for the another student to be able to accept that trip listed by the driver or passenger. I would like to have a "accept" button just under each web apps item in the "List of web app items" so that when someone sees a trip they like or can use, the click the "Accept" button and the system emails the driver and the passanger the trip detail and then disables the web app item so that it's not in the list anymore. Is any of this possible? and if so, I would love to learn how. Any sugestions are appretiated. Many thanks in advance.

Hi guys!

I have been watching BC gurus' tutorials on how to make costumer submitted web apps. I have made a new site with the "Satine Boutique"-template. What I want is to make users able to upload pictures to this site, into different product catalogs. (the users can sell theese items)

Is this even possible? The users have to pay a fee for uploading their items. So basically it will be an online store for anyone to sell stuff.

How can I do this in the easiest way possible?

Dealer Locator - Empty Zipcode Field

Hey All

I have setup a dealer locator and it is displaying everything fine and dandy. But what I have noticed is that there if you leave the zipcode blank and hit submits it will display all the locations which is something I do not want. Is there something in BC that can disable this or would I need some jquery to validate?

Web App for Shows/Event transfer also as a Calendar Event?

I am working probono for a client.

I have built him a way to add shows/events really easily using a Web App.

I know if you use EVENTS it will add the event in a Calendar format. Is there a way for me to program it, so that when he adds an event through the web app feature, it will also put it on a searchable calendar? Or will he have to add the show in the Web Apps category and then also in the Events?

Please let me know if I was not clear enough and need picture references.

Query Search Select List

I have a search form with multiple search list. When the user selects an option from the search list I want my other select list to filter based on the first dropdown option selected.

Web App name "Listings"

First Dropdown list is "Animal" - option 1 "Elk", option 2 "Deer", Option 3 "Bear".

Second Dropdown list is "City" - option 1 "Steamboat", option 2 "Brush", Option 3 "Strasburg".

From the first dropdown list the user would choose animal. I'm trying to accomplish the second dropdownlist to refresh and only display what City the animal would reside in. Can this be done? How would one do this?

Automatically Searching Web App Based on Geo Location City

I am wondering if the following can be done.

1) Using a geolocation script to determine a surfer's city (I know this part can be done easy)

2) Feeding that city into a BC web app

3) Finding "near by" matches or maybe a proximity search based on that city.

4) Doing it all on the fly, as when a user first hits a page, the city is found and the BC web app is searched.

Most importantly we want this to work as a landing page, so after the city is found we need a way to feed it into the BC web app and show results either in the 6 thumbnail summary view or working with maps and showing them as points on the map.

Event booking with Adult/child pricing?

Hi, looking to see if anyone has created a Webapp that would enable multiple seat and price selection. ie. 2 Adults @ $50 and 1 Child @ $20.

I've done this with other ecomm solutions but BC is looking a little clunky here.

Multiple Image uploads with customer submitted web-apps

Hello

I curretnly have a marine listing website: www.mdbs.com.au and I have my customers list boats via customer submitted webapps.

This currently works fine but problem is they need to upload up to 20 boats. After listing a few boats they are really annoyed with having to click and add each image seperately and their old system they would just select a folder with images in and that would upload to system.

Have tried to implement some image uploaders but most need .php.

Wanted to know if anyone has successfullly implemented this into any website or if there might be another work around.

How to set product Id for event booking order?

We take paid bookings for a number of events through the year. Since the event booking information is identical for every event (only the event details change), we have implemented this by embedding the HTML from a standardised web form into each event's details section.

However, when the event booking is submitted by the customer, Business Catalyst creates a product whose name is constructed as {form name}/{event name} to correspond to this event. This product is referenced in the CRM order for this event that is linked to the customer. This means we get a separate product for each event type.

The problem is that the product code that is assigned to the event booking product is the ID of the web form that was used to process the event (ie. the form embedded in the event detail). Since we use the same web form for multiple events we are now seeing duplicate product codes.

I would like to create a common product for all event bookings and pass this product ID when posting the form on submit of the event booking. The reason for a single booking product is to simplify the synchronisation to our accounting system - otherwise we need to create a new product in the accounting system every time we add a new event.

Is there a query parameter I can include on the form's action URL or as an input field to the form that controls the product ID and / or the product name that will be used for the booking order?

The only other solution I can think of to solve this challenge is to create a unique web form - event combination for every single event. This is not a great solution due to the unnecessary duplication that this will involve - I would rather re-use a common piece of code.

On any new web App Items , or any new Web Apps created getting the message when attempting to do update (logged in as user and can access the item in edit)
ERROR: You do not have enough privileges to add this item.

The same user id can do updates to other web app web app items that already exist, the user is assigned and can login and select edit and add the content , but submit the web app item update results in succfull update.

What does the message ERROR: You do not have enough privileges to add this item specifically indicate when the user is

assigned to the web app / web app item,
web app is designated as edit enabled for assigned user
item is active and
can update other web apps and can login to the web app in question but
can not update newly created items without the message.

Appears to me any web app that is new or modified is getting the error, existing ones are ok.

(happens on different browsers, cache cleared, logins not remembered, manual login actioned)

Copying info from WebApp tags

This is another question about the job vacancy webapp that I've created and included in a site I'm currently developing.

Both the webapp List Template and Detail Template include an "Apply Now" button which links through to an online application form.

My client would like the information generated by the {tag-name} and the custom {tag_job reference} in the webapp to pre-populate the Job Title and Job Ref. Number fields on the form when someone clicks the "Apply Now" button.

Can anyone tell me if this this possible to do using BC? Or is it time for me to get a coder involved?

'Free Trial' web app which requires payment after trial period is over

Does anyone have any ideas on how to build a 'free trial' web app which subsequently requires payment after the trial period is over? For example a service which allows a user access for 30 days without charge but charges a monthly fee after that. Am not sure whether this would be two web apps (one web app which requires payment, one which doesn't) with data links so user can extend listing without having to re-enter information . . . . or something completely different

Limit or Resize Web App Images on Upload

Hi I'm building a marketing site that allows for user generated web apps. I'm concerned users will upload huge image files and since storage is very expensive with BC this is a problem. Is limiting image upload file size or automatically resizing image files in the future BC Web App roadmap? Another image upload feature that would be cool are being able to rename the image on upload and drag and drop images like google +./ picasa.

If these features are not in the roadmap for Web Apps are there any plug-ins or 3rd party tools that could help with this? I've been researching this and it appears that you need access to server side script asp or php to perform image resize or size limiiting.

Any help would be great.

Web App or JavaScript for Savings Calculator?

web app search too broad and strict at the same time?

Hi, I have a web app with web app items that have names with "lumber" and "plumber" in the names and content areas.

When i do a web app keyword search for "lumber" i get all lumber and all plumber web apps in my results as well,

not good,

how can I prevent this from happeneing, if someone looks for lumber, they don't wnata plumber.

this is the only one i noticed so far, but if it's allowing partial hits within words, i am sure this will happen again, and the user will get totally irrelevant results.

Are they any tags or search parameters to help or change this behavior?

On the other end of this, I ran into the web app search only doing exact searching when more than one word is used, like with 2 words, if i have a web app called "plumbing and heating" and search for "heating and plumbing" nothing shows up at all...

in addition to that, if the web app item name is plumbing & heating with the &, if i search that exactly, nothing comes up atall, even though the web app item name is exactly the same. Why would no results come back when the web app item name is exact? I can;t change "&" to "and" because it's a brand name, and they use & in their company name...

again, if there is any control in how the results are fetched, please advise
