Removing signatures in a digital signature field

Hi all, I have a question relating to the topic above that i hope
you guys can help me with;

1) Is it possible to remove digital signatures from form? For instance
if you have a form going thru several approval steps that requires
signatures, and then one step happened to reject, it would be nice to
remove the previous signatures so that they could be re-signed.

2) And finally is there a simpler way to combine digital signatures
and rights management then what was listed in the pdf provided by
Duane (second post from the bottom of the thread)? When creating a policy there is

a checkbox for "Filling in form fields and signing". Is this forsomething else?

Saving Fillable Form as non-fillable PDF

I need some help with LiveCycle.

I've created a form that will be sent to several people to fill out. Once they fill it out, they will need to save the form as a non-fillable file (normal PDF?) and send on to others to be read-only. The form will not come back to me.

I cannot figure out how to enable the form to be saved as a normal, non-changeable PDF.

Also, the only option seems to be that the form is returned to me. I don't want that, either.

Are There Expandable Text Fields?

Okay, am new to Acrobat and LiveCycle. I have gone through about 9 hours of videos and still can not find an answer to what I know I should be able to do. Is there a way on a form to create a text field which has the ability to expand its size versus creating a scroll bar so when you print the form it is not chopped off and missing? This is a 2 page form so a text box has the possibiltiy it could split between 2 pages.

Is it possible to print a secured document (policy) through livecycle web services?

I've been tryiong to a print secured document through Adobe Livecycle’s web service interface (Digital Rights Management and OutputService).

I made a research in the documentation of the livecycle’s web services and founded some methods about printing PDF files (sendToPrinter).

I developed a standalone application that prints a PDF file using the webservices, but it did not worked with a document with a security policy applied to it.

Did you know anyway to print a secured pdf using livecycle rights management webservices or any other RTP?

Reader can't sign pdf signature field

I have a problem with digital signatures in Adobe Reader. I have Adobe Acrobat 9. I am including a form with multiple signature fields in a pdf portfolio. This portfolio is circulated to collect signatures from users in different departments, some have Acrobat and some have Reader only. I make sure that features have been extended for Reader. Most of the time they are okay. But every once in a while (at least once or twice per week) I get a user telling me they can't sign. No message or error of any kind, just a quick blink but no signature. As a work-around I've had to save a copy and re-extend features. This can be time consuming when there are a few documents I need to circulate. Please help.

The forms do work on PCs using Firefox and Internet Explorer.

They do not work on Mac using Safari, Chrome or Fireforx.

What might help rectify this problem? If I were to change the compatibility settings to accepting Legacy (Acrobat 6) as the rendering engine (Form Properties > Compatibility) and Acrobat and Adobe Reader 8.0 as the Target Version (Form Properties > Defaults) would that work?

Please advise as to how best to fix this and make our forms accessible to all.

Signature valid or invalid

How to tell if a Signature is valid or not?

I have a process/workflow, at the end of the workflow, it saves the PDF form in the ContentSpace.

The form has Signature fields.

Server is LiveCycle ES 2.5, Turnkey. Windows/JBoss/MySQL.

Client computer has the latest Acrobat Reader X (10.0).

After the form is saved in the ContentSpace,

I download the .pdf form file from the ContentSpace into a folder on the C: drive,

open the file with Reader,

and there's a Green checkmark on the top,

it says everything is valid.

All looks good.

Then I log out of Windows,

log back in on the same computer, using a different Windows account,

open the same .pdf file with Reader,

this time, there's no green checkmark

instead, there's a warning message on the top of the Reader window

that says: at least one Signature has problems.

Why is that?

How to tell which one is correct?

Digital signature will not work in Reader

I need help I have been working on a new form I want to have digatally signed. I add the digital signature box, in the test pdf it pulls in my digital certificates and works. Once I save the form and try opening it with adobe reader 9 nothing happens when I click the signature block. On the other hand when it is opened in adobe pro the signatures work. I am saving the file as static and tried several combinations of options and nothing seems to work. Can anybody give me some easy to follow instructions? I am using version 8. I appreciate any help.

Using a MAC to fill out PC Created PDF forms creating problems

We have created a number of forms using LiveCycle to be filled out by clients. They include submit buttons that send the form back as a PDF (rather than a data file). The forms were then opened in Acrobat 8 Professional and usage rights enabled to allow the clients to save a copy of the completed form.

They work great...unless the client is using a MAC. We have encountered the following problems with MAC filled forms:

1) client entered data is present but only visible when the field is clicked on

2) the Print and Submit by E-mail buttons do not work for MAC users

3) the tabbing order is inconsistent

Any ideas of ways we can make our forms more compatible for MAC users??

Hi,

I'm trying to unlock/remove password on a password protected and reader extended document in a long lived process. Below is the workflow description

A batch process that fires periodically to send service feedback forms to customers.

Long lived process to Gather data ---> Render Dynamic pdf ---> Password Protect (to disable printing and extracting pages) ---> Reader Extend (for saving edited pdf on client machine) ---> Send Email to customer.
Long lived process to Receive feedback via Email endpoint --> Remove/Unlock (?) password ---> Extract data from PDF ---> further operations to update data in tables.

My findings:

Remove PDF Password Encryption (Failed here) ---> Extract data

I see that the "Unlock Passwod Encrypted PDF" service works fine in Short Lived Process. I'm unable to make it work in Long Lived process. Can someone please explain this behavior? Why is the limitation to Unlock PDF Password service to work only in short lived process?

Can Reader users Save Form and Preserve data?

I designed a form with Livecycle Designer and sent it to a few people who have Reader only. They are able to fill in the form but when they try to save it they get a message stating: "Data typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form."

This product seems absolutely useless if users cannot save their forms. I have to believe I've made a mistake or placed some restrictions on the form that is forcing this error. I've read in other posts that people are indeed sending forms to customers to fill out and email back. So saving from Reader must be possible right?

Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? Thanks.

PDF form - email subject line = field

I am creating a PDF form on our intranet to be filled out and submitted via email with a submit button. All works well, but the recipients would like the subject line of the email to be info from the first field on the form so that it is easily searchable. I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 (also have Acrobat 8 Professional) but haven't found anywhere to edit this info. I have read thread referencing possible solutions by utilizing javascript, but I'm not sure where to begin where javascript is concerned (not my forte).

Right now the form is Submitted by Email via a "Button" set to Control Type: Submit. Under the Submit tab I have set the Submit to URL field to - mailto:"emailaddress".

Also, the recipients mentioned that they can't see the PDF in the body of their email, instead its only an attachment. We are all using Outlook and Outlook Webmail and would like to see the PDF in the body. Is there an easy way to accomplish this as well?

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Fillable PDF form is not printing text fields after completion from Acrobat.

I created a simple, interactive form from an EPS file and manually placed all text fields. When the form is opened and filled out in Acrobat Reader, it will only print the original form, leaving all text fields completed by the user blank. I looks like by default the form has not printing restrictiona and even says in the PDF security that printing is allowed. I also tried setting up a password in the Permissions area to restrict printing to low or high resolution and still no printing.

Does anyone know how to allow the filled out form to print?

Reader can't sign pdf signature field

Hi,

I am using LiveCycle Designer V 8.2.1

I have added a signature field in a new form I am creating.

The problem is you can not sign the pdf in Reader X. It does nothing.

I have another form that was created by another user who is no longer here and you can add the signature.

When I open it is Acrobat 9 Pro, I can sign.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

LiveCycle Newbie: Validate Before Printing Form

I have a form created in Adobe Acrobat Pro that I have brought into LiveCycle to add print and emails buttons to. However, I need a specific functionality added to the standard "Print" button. It is a legal form that has required fields and the client needs to fill in all the required fields on the form BEFORE printing and signing it. We have had problems in the past with clients not filling in all the required fields before sending it back to them. So, I need to somehow make the print button check to make sure all the required fields are filled in and send a warning message and/or prevent printing if all the required fields are not filled in. Is there a way to do this?

I am using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 and I am VERY new to this program so the simpler the solution the better.

Combining XML and PDF Files

Hi, I have a form created in Adobe LiveCycle, and I need to be able to take this form and merge it with some PDF forms. When I go try to "Combine Files into PDF" It says the XML form cannot be combine. Is there a way around this? Using the "Create a Portfolio" is not an option.

I've created a form in LiveCycle which will be seen and filled by users who only have Reader.

Once the form is completed, the user has to click three buttons: one prints the page (for a specific paper-based usage required by the filler of the form). The same button sends the entire form to one e-mail address.

The second button prepares the form for submission to a second e-mail recipient. This recipient must not be able to see some of the filled fields on the form. As well as setting these fields to invisible, the second button also hides key fields behind a text message, telling the second recipient where to find the information that is most useful to them on the form. Again, this recipient will be using only Acrobat Reader.

Everything works fine, apart from when it comes to e-mailing the form to the second recipient. I've used various scripts I've found on this forum and elsewhere to lock fields before sending and I've extended Reader rights in Acrobat. But, whatever I do, the form received by the recipients is STILL editable, the "invisible" fields are visible again and also editable, and the test box that obscured key fields has become invisible again.

I've already tried using a range of scripts that I've found both on this forum and elsewhere (including Paul Guerrett's 'Lock All Fields' and 'Lock All Fields Not Buttons' scripts. I've also tried using the scripts in different 'events' - mouse up, mouse down, click etc.

What am I doing wrong? I've spent days trying to figure this out and I'm getting nowhere.

I am a JavaScript novice, by the way. So please keep it simple and (better still) provide working script! Thanks to anyone who can help

Unable to Preview forms

I have a problem with Livecycle Designer where whenever I try to preview any of my forms I get the message "There is a problem with Adobe Actobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (507:507)", and instead of the prview I get an internet explorer style "This program cannot display the webpage" page.

It also seems to often make the Adobe Reader open up.

I am running 64 bit Windows 7 and have Adobe Reader X and Livecycle Designer 9.0.0.0.20091029.1.612548.

Any suggestions?

Add row / delete row in PDF Form

Alright so I am really struggling here and no one has been able to provide me a solid answer to date.

1. I am creating a PDF form I want users to be able to fill and remit via email

2. I have created the form in Acrobat 9 Pro via the form Wizard and in some combination with MS Word 2007 for text and table fields to get the forms wizard to auto-populate Adobe form fields.

3. Some of the tables, i.e. In the first table for "Full Time" and "Part Time" should have check boxes - works fine to date. While others should have drop downs, i.e. platform build, etc - works fine to date.

4. This is the pressing issue. As they exist today there is a large table as you can clearly see. I want users to be able to simply click an "Add Row" or "Delete Row" button to add another row to the table (or delete) without having to have a massive table.

I've watched demos on Lynda.com (all of which are irrelevant and provided 0 value), tried to work with what people have responded with previously but all are mainly sample documents and I don't know where to start. In short, I open my form and other forms in LifeCycle Designer ES, take a look at the buttons people have created, the scripts, the XML source, etc. but no idea where to go. If the button needs to be in the table. How it should be scripted. etc. I cannot find a video tutorial anywhere on the web and all the responses simply provide a sample but no idea how to make it a reality in terms of translating their sample into a working dynamic form in PDF. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Content is not shown with acrobat reader

Hi,

I created a simple form with Livescycle and even if when i look at the PDF with adobe reader, i can see enought privilege, i cannot really save the content.

Basically, i can open the PDF, fill the fields, save the document but when i reopen the document afterward, the content has disapeared. If i look at the same PDF with notepad, i can see the values next to the field but the values are not visible anymore in the reader.

Import XML data at load of PDF form

Not sure that this is the correct forum, but it looks like a good place to start.....

This is my question:

At this moment we use an MS Excel file that runs a macro at startup that imports fielddata from an external xml-file. So, a user that opens the Excelfile will not have to fill in customer-data that is supplied by the xml-file. It is automaticly filled. For example Customer name, address, postcode etc.

Now, we have created a simular form in Adobe Livecycle, but we cannot get the xml-data to be imported just like the Excelfile does.

Is it possible, and how is it done, to open a pdf-form, import data from an external xml-file, all without user interaction?

Hope that my question is clear. Please advise

Adding attachments to PDF form

I tried everything and looked everywhere and can't find the best solution to this problem. I just need a way for the user to attach documents to a PDF form in Adobe Reader. I have access to LiveCycle and Acrobat so is there way once the extended features are enabled for a user to add attachments to the form in Reader. I have LiveCycle ES 8.2.1. I guess the only possible way is when the user emails the form they can add the attachments then but I just want to see if it can be done by attaching to the actual form.

Actually Adobe acrobat having built-in option as "Export XML". But in reader there is no option like that. But I can able to get the exported XML using submit button. But without using button/Adobe work bench what are all the possibilities to get it?

Flowing text onto a second page

I have a form where I am pasting text in a subform (occupies an entire page) a lot of text. Everything works fine when the pasted text is more then one page and I get scrolling bar at the right and a black and white + at the bottom right. The problem is I want the text to be flowed on to the next page. This is needed because the form may need to be printed and faxed sometimes.

I have tried several tricks but so far I have not stumbled upon a good solution!

Any help would be appreciated!

Trouble printing digital signatures

I have a windows 7 computer with a new printer. I have adobe reader 9 installed on the computer. I can see a digital signature on the screen even in the print preview, but it will not print. I can print the signature from a computer running XP! Any ideas how to fix this? Thank you!

calculating times in 15 minute increments

Good Afternoon,

I am making a form where we report how much leave is being used. The leave will be reported in 15 minute increments. (Ex: fifteen minutes = .15; one-half hour = .30; 45 minutes = .45) I need to be able to add these up and have them keep this format of 15 minute increments. Also, I need the display to be a decimal instead of a colon, if possible. (Ex. 3.45 instead of 3:45).

any advice is appreciated!!!

LiveCycle Designer "Menu Bar" missing

How can one get the menu bar back (File, Edit, View ... Window, Help) in LiveCycle Designer ES (8.2)?

It's installed as part of Acrobat 9 Pro on Windows Vista.

In the process doing screen prints and dragging images between documents (e.g., paint and word) I mistakenly dragged the menu bar off the LiveCycle Designer work area. On another monitor I realized it wasn't acting like what I was going to paste and (not realizing what it was) took it to the lower left of the monitor (out of the LCD screen) and dropped it. Going back to LCD I discovered that it must have been the menu bar and ... not to be found.

I've uninstalled Acrobat 9 Pro, rebooted, removed the Users/<username>/App Data/Roaming/Adobe/Designer folder, and then did a complete install (not 'Typical', not 'Custom') of Acrobat 9 Pro and STILL NO MENU BAR.

The menu bar acts almost like a toolbar or palette but is apparently treated differently ... position, etc stored in the registry?

I also saw that F9 supposedly restores the menubar in Acrobat 8 on Windows (but no effect in LCD); also tried the Acrobat 8/Mac solution (Ctrl-Shift-M) with no effect.

Also, doing a restore is not an option (thanks to our system folks).

Any help appreciated.

XML database not loading

I have a xml database that has some information which is loaded into a drop down menu on my form. While I am in Live Cycle Designer and use the pdf preview, the dropdowns populate correctly and show what is in the database but when I open up the form in Adobe Reader, the dropdown show null. How can I remedy this problem?

Text Field Align Bottom

I'm wishing to change the alignment of text fields from top alignment to bottom alignment. When right click the field and choose styles > create a new style > Value Text Formatting, I can change the vertical alignment. But I can't do this for many fields at once. How I can change or apply a style to many fields? The Style Editor is greyed out when I select several fields but yet when I'm in the style editor with one field selected I see a button on the bottom that says "apply to selection."

Auto-populate form fields based on end user input?

I'm currently attempting to create a new form that has a combo box "Locations" with various options. What I'm looking to do is have another text field auto populate other fields related to that location (such as address, contact information) to save on time and reduce opportunity for end user errors in input.

What are my options for accomplishing such a task? Some form of binding fields with a MS database possibly?

I am unable to access LifeCycle ES2 from my Adobe Acrobat X pro, even though I am supposed to have it as part of the software. I have tried Forms/Edit forms, and I have looked for it through all the menus. Several of the helps I have found for other things has me launch LifeCycle and operate from screens that LifeCycle designer provides.

I am using Windows XP professional.

I would appreciate all the help I can get on this.

OK, I have a dynamic form that I am using an Image control on. I am using an Image, NOT an Image Field because I don't want the user to be able to click on the image and change it. I can set the URL property of the Image on Designer's object tab and the image shows up fine when I view the form. Here's the complication: the image URL needs to change a bit each time the form is rendered. So one time it may be http://www.domain.com/generate_image.php?image_id=1 and the next time it may be http://www.domain.com/generate_image.php?image_id=2. I tried setting the URL via JavaScript like this:

Page1.logo.value.image.href = "http://www.domain.com/generate_image.php?image_id=1";

The image_id will be pulled from the XML data that gets passed to the form. This successfully sets the URL property, but the image at the URL doesn't show up in the image control. I tried putting the JavaScript in several different events, like form:ready, docReady, etc, but none of them work.

I really need to show an image via a URL that can change, but I don't want to use an Image Field since the user can click on it and change the image.

Ideas?

Populate Text Field Based On Drop-Down List Selection

New here, can someone help with the following;

Dropdown list > address info is based on list selection (address info is multiple lines "address, city, st, zip, phone"

So user is filling out a form, selects recipient, and the address info + phone populates on it's own (into a text box) based on the item selected in the drop down.

How to count Records in a Table and/or Form

I have a Table which is being passed to my context in the ADOBE Form. I need to be able to count the # of records in this table. I don’t have to display the actual table in this case on the form, I just need the record count. And, I need to do this using JavaScript and I don’t know anything about Java (although if FormCalc works I can use this as well). My Tablename is Customer and on my form it is in the Hierarcy data.main.customerbody.customerline. If I have to have this table data on the form then I can just put it on the form and make it invisiible. I really only need to count the # of records though and return this # to a Text Field on the form.

Does someone know how to do this and can you give me an example in either Java for FormCalc? The more specfic you can be with the scripting example the better for this newbie. thx!

Multi-line entries in drop-down

Hi - I have a drop-down with a very long list, displaying in a fixed field area. Some of the entries are very long, and since the drop-down only allows one line, the rest of the entry is obscured. Is there any way to get the drop-down to display multi-line? Or at least to commit the selection to the fixed filed area as multi-line?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to modify what the body of the email will look like once the user has pressed an email submit button. In Livecycle designer, I clicked on the button and viewed the xml source. I scrolled down to the following line:

Then changed it to:

When I tested the button, the text "?body=new body" was appended to the subject line instead of being included in the body itself.

I wondered if anyone could tell lme where I'm going wrong?

Hello everybody!

I'm working with SAP.

On my current project I would like to implement a customer form via Adobe Lifecycle Designer.

I'm going to ask a developer to implement the following logic:

There is a fixed rectangular area in the form. This area should represent a text.

In case of long text I would like to reduce the font size to fit the text into the area. It should look like that

Text alignment within the area is Horizontal Centered, Vertical Centered
Text wrap is on
Font is Arial, initial size is 10

Is it possible to implement?

I am trying to use an IF / ELSEIF formula in FormCalc to autopopulate a text field in a table, but I keep getting a syntax error. Could someone please help?

My table has 2 rows and 2 columns. I named each cell (using Binding) in Column 1 as Data1 and Data2 respectively. Both cells in Column 1 contain a dropdown menu of numbers 1, 2, and 3. I want to create a FormCalc IF expression in Column 2 so that when the user selects a "1" in the Data1 cell, the cell adjacent to it in Column 2 autopopulates to "Yes". Then if they select a "2", the adjacent cell becomes "No", and if they select a "3", the adjacent cell is "Unknown". Then, I want to do the same thing for the Data2 cell and its adjacent cell in Column 2.

Here is the expression that I've tried using for the first row (it doesn't work). (The second row in Column 2 [next to Data2] has the same formula, except Data1 is replaced with Data2.)

if (Data1 = 1) then
"Yes"
elseif (Data1 = 2) then
"No"
elseif (Data1 = 3) then
"Unknown"
endif

Can anyone spot where my syntax error is and how to fix it? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

EMC documentum configuration error

I am trying to configure the EMC documentum. But when i configure from adminui using superadmin login/password getting error that "could not find the EMC documentum connector". please see the screen shot below.

Also i am not able to start below services (find screen shot also)

2.EMCDocumentumRepositoryProvider.

Database connection is not working in Free Acrobat Reader

Hi,

I am working on a pdf that imports data from an sql server. I got it working flawlessly in livecycle and in Acrobat Reader Pro. But in Free acrobat reader it makes an index error on the click event on the button that runs the javascript for getting a record.

I applied reader extension from Acrobat Reader Pro, but never the less it won't work.

My question: Does Free Acrobat Reader support this kind of database lookup with RE enabled.

I have tried both with formcalc and javascript. Both works in livecycle and the pro version of acrobat reader.

I am only working on the client side and do not utilize livecycle server.

Actually, we are a small firm, we gave development project of a small app to a software vendor, the app supposed to work for desktops and tablets/mobile devices. We assumed our app will be build based on JavaScript

But, the vendor said they will build our app based on HTML5

Pls. let us know HTML5 and JavaScript both are same?

How to Autosum in Adobe LiveCycle

I have a form that I made up in Adobe Pro 9. However, I needed to do some stuff to it that only livecycle would allow me to do. Long story short it is now in livecycle. Here is my problem, in adobe acrobat I could easily set auto sum for fields that I wanted to calculate. However I cannot figure out how to do this in livecycle. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
