'Underlying connection was closed' on adding to version control using SharePoint 2010

Certain files cannot be checked into SharePoint 2010 for version control due to file size being approximately > 100KB but same files can be uploaded via the SharePoint GUI (i.e. not within RH) and smaller files upload successfully.

Steps:

Configure according to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS1b49059a33f77726-5aab66613798e5ec9b-8000.h tml
Create new simple project and add to version control using SharePoint Connector; project is added to version control
Files that are not uploaded are *.fla files approx > 100KB. Error message: 'The underlying Connection was Closed, an unexpected error occurred on Send'

Workaround attempted:

Open Explorer View in SharePoint 2010
Cut and paste RH project to Shared Library/Folder
Open project in RH (File > Open Project From Version Control)
Make changes to topic (add body text) to increase size > 100KB
Check in topic fails, same error message displayed

Environment: Windows 7, RH 11 (trial version), SharePoint 2010 (with Site Owner permission), VPN Connection, Windows Authentication to Source Control, WinMerge (latest version)

When we open a project from Version Control (in Team Foundation Server), we perform the following steps:

Navigate to the Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider
Connect to a TFS Server
Choose the folder in TFS, which requires 6-7 clicks through the folder tree.

Is there a way in RoboHelp to 'remember' the location of the XPJ in Source Control so that we don't have to repeat the eight clicks each time?

My colleague and I have followed the steps in the Integrating RoboHelp projects with Subversion article to set up version control using Subversion with the PuskOK plugin.

We are not getting the results expected as far as collaboration. When I open RoboHelp, I am able to check out files, and I see that the status updates to “Checked Out” in the File Status Pod accordingly. I am able to check files in as well.

However, when my colleague opens the same project from version control, in her File Status pod, most of the files show “not controlled.” She cannot see that I have checked out a file either.

In my File Status Pod I see a few project files ( a few .fpj files, for example) that show up as “not controlled.” Those are the only files that seem to be under version control in my colleague’s project.

I have read the recent posts related to this issue, but I have not found any that resulted in a satisfactory outcome for using RH with the Subversion, PughOK plugin set up. If there’s any one who currently uses the RH, Subversion, PushOK set up successfully, we would greatly appreciate some advice on how you got up and running.

Load a project from a SharePoint document library

"Add a project to a SharePoint document library" is nicely documented in the RoboHelp reference guide. However there is no information on adding another user to that library, i.e. how do you synchronize that user with the library on SharePoint? Do they open a new project and restore the files...? I have no idea how to do this - spent the last 2 hours trying to figure this out as there in no information on this - not even on Google searches. It's really a shame that a powerful help authoring tool is lacking help itself. I'm a fan of robohelp, however when you face roadblocks like this - it's very frustrating. This should be something simple to do and it should be clearly documented. Can someone please help.

Problem

I'm the original author of the Touchstone Help system. Last week we started getting two colleagues on board to work with me. On their systems, we configured RoboHelp to work with TFS in Visual Studio using MSSCI Provider 2010.

The original project had lots of conditional build tags. I removed them all and the expressions and checked everything into Source Control. When my colleagues got the latest files from Source Control and opened the project from Version Control, we noticed that their projects still had the conditional build tags along with other items that had long ago been deleted. After some research, we deleted the CPD and PSS files from Source Control and let RoboHelp create them when we opened the project. That solved those problems -- no more conditional build tags in the project.

Last Friday colleague A began experiencing significant problems. When she right-clicked a topic to view properties, RoboHelp stopped working. She has not been able to do anything in RoboHelp since.

That same day I attempted to look at the Version Control settings (which I'd had no problem accessing all week). RoboHelp crashed as soon as I clicked Tools > Options. Colleague B experienced the same problem today.

This morning I experienced colleague A's problem.

Bottom line: we are suddenly not able to run RoboHelp 11.

Our in-house Help desk person tried running the Visual Studio debugger. We get "An unhandled win32 exception in RoboHtml.exe [5404]". We also unhandled exceptions at various address with an Access violation reading location hex address.

After looking at Willem's site that lists the RoboHelp updates, we thought about installing them, but we were not sure whether to install ALL the patches or only Patch 11.0.3. If all the patches, we were not sure whether to install them in a particular sequence.

Three of us are starting to work on a Help project together. We are working from Version Control.

We will be setting up collaboration guidelines, such as, 'don't work on the same topic at the same time'.

However, when we open our projects, RoboHelp prompts us to check out the XPJ file and we are not sure what the effect is in a collaborative environment running in Source Control. Will we run into version conflicts?

The RoboHelp Help says that we don't have to check out the XPJ file when editing, only when editing project settings. However, RoboHelp won't let us click No in response to the prompt.

Good afternoon.

Running RoboHelp 11, integrated with Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio 2010.

When my two colleagues recently "got" the latest project files from Source Control, they also got items that had been removed or deleted. For example, I had removed all conditional build tags from my project, but their version still included the build tags. Eventually, thanks in part to an old post from Peter Grainge, we realized that the PSS in Source Control contained a lot of that old information. We deleted the PSS and stopped checking it into Source Control. Problem solved. No more conditional build tags or unwanted Single Source Layouts, etc. (I think the PSS got checked in by our Release Engineer when he was trying to solve some other problem. Two years ago it was not being checked in.)

I vaguely remember reading something somewhere once upon a time about not checking certain RoboHelp project management files into Source Control. So far I've not found any such information in the RoboHelp Help or online.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of RoboHelp HTML project management files, such as the PSS file, that should never be checked into Source Control?

Extremely slow performance on projects under version control using RoboHelp 11, PushOk, Tortoise SVN repository

We are also experiencing extremely slow performance for RoboHelp projects under version control. We are using RoboHelp 11, PushOk and a Tortoise SVN repository on a Linux server. We are using a Linux server on our IT guys advice because we found SVN version control under Windows was unstable.

When placing a Robohelp project under version control, and yes the project is on my local machine, it can take up to two hours to complete. We are using the RoboHelp sample projects to test.

We have tried to put the project under version control from Robohelp, and also tried first putting the project under version control from Tortoise SVN, and then trying to open the project from version control in Robohelp. In both cases, the project takes a ridiculous amount of time to open. The Robohelp status bar displays Querying Version Control Status for about an hour before it starts to download from the repository, which then takes more than an hour to complete. In many cases Robohelp becomes unresponsive and we have to start the whole process again.

If adding the project to source control completes successfully, and the the project is opened from version control, performing any function also takes a very long time, such as creating a topic. When I generated a printed documentation layout it took an astonishing 218 minutes and 17 seconds to complete. Interestingly, when I generated the printed documentation layout again, it took 1 min and 34 seconds. However when I closed the project, opened from version control, and tried to generate a printed documentation layout, it again took several hours to complete. The IT guys are at a loss, and say it is not a network issue and I am starting to agree that this is a RoboHelp issue.

I see there are a few other discussions here related to this kind of poor performance, none of which seem to been answered satisfactorily. For example:

Does anybody have any ideas on what we can do or what we can investigate? I know that there are options for version control, but am reluctant to pursue them until I am satisfied that our current issues cannot be resolved.

Need Help! Cannot get SourceControl3.1 to work correctly.

We are using RH8. We have a project that needs updating to be current with newest software release. There is a project manager in the home office and a technical writer working remotely in another state. Our IT staff followed all the steps listed on setting up the SourceControl and this is what is occurring:

I've tried it both as file system and as full embedded database solution. For files based solution I did create a history path. This is what I was working on Friday. I had to set up another test machine here with RoboHelp in order to test it. Same problem. I can check out from either machine and checkin in. However the changes never get propagated to the other instance, even if you do a Get All.

Not sure if this is related, but the open project from Source Control does not work from within Robo Help 8 either. When I try to open a project that way, it just sits there on the open file dialog box. From what the tutorial showed, it should start downloading the files and then you select the project file to open.

Here's a sample screen shot.

How to get new files from TFS to local project?

I have RH10 connecting to Team Foundation Server for source control. Unless I'm mistaken, I'm beginning to see and regret that the Get Latest Version dialogue in RH only applies to files that were in the project when first loaded to my PC. If the owner of a project adds files and saves them to TFS, how do I then get those files added to my local copy when I open the project myself? I don't even see a manual way to do this in RH, but ideally I want an automatic solution.

So how do I:

Set up TFS/RoboHelp to get all new files whenever a project is opened?
Manually grab all new files within RH if that fails?

The point is, I understand I can do this in Source Control Explorer but does RH have an equivalent?

RH8-Question about setting up RoboSource Control 3.1

I am using RH8 and I want to use RoboSource Control 3.1 to manage a project with two authors. One author will be working remotely. When a file is checked out, does the connection to the server need to be maintained or can it be worked on locally and then checked back in?

Hello.

I am using RH10 and need to set up Source Control - it doesn't have to be RoboSource Control but the company I contract for is moving away from SharePoint so I can't use that. Any advice on this area will be gratefully received.

I think I understand correctly that I need to ask a DB or Technical Support expert to set up an SQL database for me. That should hopefully prove to be straightforward.

However, when I currently open the Connection List in RH10 (File > Version Control > Add To Version Control), I can only see a connection to SharePoint. There is no Create button to enable me to add a new link for when the new database is set up for me.

Can anyone advise what I need to do to get this working as described in the RH10 Online Help?

Robohelp, SharePoint, and .cpd

I recently added a Robohelp 10 project to SharePoint source control. Now, when I attempt open the xpj from SharePoint, I recieve the following error and I cannot open the project:

I can still successfully open the project from my local machine, and the source control appears to work, but my team members need to access the project from SharePoint. How do I resolve the cpd error?

How do I prevent RoboHelp from adding generated files to source control?

I have a RoboHelp 10 project configured to use Team Foundation Server. When my user generates output (e.g. by previewing or 'Generate...') RoboHelp automatically tries to checkout the generated files (add or edit operations). I only want the source files to be added or checked out automatically, not the generated output. It is tying up Team Explorer on the user's computer each time this happens as hundreds of files are reconciled with TFS.

How can I resolve my problem?

BONUS problem I need solving:

So the user has these files checked out because RoboHelp demands it (until my original question is solved). If another user tries to build the same files (like I just did) on another machine, RoboHelp complains that the file is already checked out (regardless if multiple checkout policy is enabled). Then I have to click OK on each file. How to stop this as well and allow multiple users to work on the same project?

Using Source Control and Resource Manager at the same time

I have several RoboHelp projects under SVN Subversion Source Control. I would also like to share common topics across these RoboHelp projects using the Resource Manager using a shared folder location.

I would like to put these shared topics under version control as well. However, I assume that Source Control and Resource Manager work independently and that when we check in or check out a project under Source Control, the shared topics are not checked into Source Control.

In order to have the shared topics under Source Control, I want to put the shared topics in a folder that is part of of RoboHelp project, sort of a master RoboHelp project, and put that project under Source Control, as per the following diagram:

Just wondering if anyone has a better solution than this, or can see any issues with doing it this way?

Syncing Between the Project Manager and Resource Manager: Best Practices?

Hello-

A colleague and I have just started creating product documentation for our company via RoboHelp 11. We have created a set of topics on a network location and have connected to that location via our Resource Manager. We are making edits to topics located on our own C: drives via the Project Manager and attempting to keep our topics up to date via the syncing function by sending our topic edits to the Resource Manager topics and downloading newly edited topics from the Resource Manager to our local drives. However, we do have a couple of questions.

For example, in the diagram, if my colleague edits a few topics locally and then syncs with the Resource Manager, I see those topics with the red "x" icon (1) indicating my topics in my Project Manager (4) are out of sync. I can see the changes my colleague has made to the topic she synced with the Resource Manager (2) and I can open my own copy of the topic on my C: drive with the now out of sync text (3) but the only way we can see to sync my own Project Manager topics with the Resource Manager topics is to right-click on each individual changed topic in the Resource Manager and select the Sync option one at a time.

Question A: Is there any way to mass sync all of the out of sync topics in my Project Manager with the newly edited topics in the Resource Manager with one action so that my own local topics will be updated and in sync with our shared topics in the Resource Manager?

Question B: What does the "Auto update local project resources" setting (5) do? Is this the solution I am looking for in my Question A? We are not sure what it does at this point and could use a pointer or two.

Can RH11 publish to TFS without using it for source control?

I am on a desktop, Windows 8, RH11.

I currently am not using TFS or SharePoint for source control, but need to put my publish files on TFS for the development team to pull into automated builds.

Is there a special way to do this? any settings that I need to be aware of?

As a side note, I am considering whether to use TFS or SharePoint as my source control and leaning toward SharePoint because we would like to publish other files such as a knowledgebase onto SharePoint and I want to use the Resource Manager as well.

Why does it take so long when adding a new topic in RH10 with PushOK SVN

RH10 / Window 7 / PushOK SVN

After ugrading from RH8 to RH10, we installed PushOK SVN and the TortoiseSVN Repository browser for our doc team as our source control system, after having used RoboSource Control 3.1 when we had RH8.. Whether in the office or working remotely via VPN, when we add a new topic it can take 1-3 minutes for the topic to actually be ready for input.

Checking in edited topics when closing the project can also take a good deal of time. I expected some of that for those of us using VPN remotely but for those in-house I didn't. Our IT guys are at a loss. They don't believe it's the network.

Is this a common issue? Is there a way around it? Or is there something that comes into play that we are not even considering? OR??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Date and Timestamp not updating

Following on from my previous posts, the date and timestamp of updated files are not being updated in RoboSource Control, i.e. the Modified column in the RoboSource Control Explorer. However, it looks like changes are being stored on the server when topics are checked in, as I can right-click a file in source control that I have changed, choose View, and see the amendments in the HTML.

Basically, this means that source control isn't recognising that files have changed and therefore when someone tries to get the latest version it doesn’t think there is one because the date and time are the same as previous version.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour before or know why the Modified column has suddenly stopped being updated?

Can you use mercurial as an integrated version control system for RoboHelp 11?

My company uses Mercurial as a version control system. I want to set up the version control for the documentation so that multiple users can access the project at the same time. Is it possible to use Mercurial as the version control system that is integrated into RoboHelp?

Our global documentation team is using RH and TFS for version control and collaboration. In our workflow, each assigned writer connects to TFS to edit a RH project and the project lead then compiles and publishes the WebHelp from his/her local version of the project. All seemed fine, but last week I noticed that when I closed a TFS-connected project and re-opened it from my local hard drive to compile and view, I was still connected to TFS; I was prompted to get the latest files from TFS and all (well, nearly all) the options are available on the Version Control menu. I've since discovered that we have other RH projects where the connection to TFS unexpectedly persists.

What can we do to fix this issue? Is it possible that something in each of the affected RH projects has been corrupted? NB: In the case of my project, the version in TFS does not include any "verboten" file, like those with PSS or CPD extensions.

File status "New version available" - UPDATED

We've been using RoboSource Control successfully for the last 12 months, but recently we've noticed that on the File Status tab in RH a large number of files have a status of "New version available". In addition, we've noticed today that the link between our projects and RSC is no longer working. The strange thing is that my colleagues and I can still open projects that are in RSC, and get the latest versions, but it still thinks there are newer versions available and any changes we make aren't being reflected on the server, i.e. we can't see each other's changes. I've tried disconnecting one of our projects from RSC and re-adding it, but it makes no difference.

Has anyone encountered this behaviour before?

We've been upgraded to Windows 8 recently and we've also upgraded our projects from RH10 to RH11. Could this be a factor?

Any help would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: It looks like the changes are being updated on the server, as I can right-click a file in source control that I have changed, choose View, and see the amendments in the HTML. What's happening is the date and timestamp of the updated files are not being updated, so I'm guessing that because of this, source control doesn't recognise that files have changed. This means that when someone tries to get the latest version it doesn’t think there is one. Is it possible that a setting on the server could have changed to prevent the date and timestamp from being updated?

Opening a project from version control

This may be related to my previous post (File Status "New version available") but I am now unable to open a project from version control using the padlock button in RoboHelp's Open Project dialog box. It lets me select a project to open, but then just sits there, not doing anything.

Any ideas?

Unable to manually add topics to TOC in RoboHelp 11 when working with RoboSource Control 3.1

Hello,

I am working on RoboHelp11 and using RoboSource Control 3.1. I am facing an issue while making an attempt to manually add new topics to the TOC (drag and drop), the error alert ' 'xxxxxx.hhc cannot be multiply Checked out' and further the alert 'The files in the list below could not be checked out from Version Control. Exclusive access to these files is required to execute the selected action.' appears. Note that the said project file is checked out only by me and no else in the team has checked it out from source control..

Can someone provide guidance on how to resolve this issue.

After I install PushOK SVN CSS plug-in, will RH10 projects already commited to SVN control be able to use it automatically?

I have RH10 projects that are manually committed to SVN. I will be upgrading to RH11 soon and am purchasing the PushOK SVN CSS plug-in to handle source control integration from within RH. However, will projects that are already committed to SVN be able to do this automatically? Should I do this integration before I install RH11 and upgrade the projects? I am just not sure of the order I should follow or any special things I need to do.

RoboHelp 10 - SVN Issue

Hi there,

We are having an issue with RoboHelp 10 and SVN (Subversion 1.7.5).

Say, for example, I add three new topics to an online help project, close the project and commit the changes. My colleague performs an SVN update - she can see that the new files are brought down from the server. The new files are then visible in the physical RoboHelp project folder - so SVN has done its job. However, when she opens the online help project on her machine, the three new files are appearing with the red 'X' in the table of contents - suggesting RoboHelp cannot find the files (as per the image below). The files are also not displayed in the project manager pod. However, if we perform a manual import in the project manager, the files are added to the project manager and no longer displayed with the red 'X' in the table of contents.

This has only happened since we upgraded to RH 10 from RH 9. Could it be that there is some setting that we need to configure?

How to reconnect a project to RoboSource Control?

Hi, our RoboSource Control server was offline for a few hours, so I worked offline in several projects. In one of those, I most have clicked "Do not try to reconnect in the future" (or whatever that option was), because now there's no connection. Can someone please tell me how to reconnect the project to the files that already exist in RoboSource? I don't want to add the whole thing again....

(Not that I think it makes any difference but I'm still using RH8 and RoboSource 3.1.)

Can't edit topics offline

I Work From Home (WFH) a couple times a week and am working in RH with one other writer and we are tracking our changes in SC. Since the network is really slow, I thought I could work on the topics offline and then check them in when I go into the office, however, whenever i make a change to a topic, I get an error box like this:

I can't make any changes to any topics or snippets, and I've checked my rights as a SC user -- I have all rights. I've also tried checking out files but no can do. I thought I was able to do this offline when WFH. Is there another setting I'm missing? I've looked in the Help and there's not much about working with topics offline, so I'm really not sure what my restrictions are.

Exception error in RH10 when I modify and save files

I'm running RH10 integrated with TFS for source control. I can check out projects and files just fine, but when I modify a file in RH and save, I get the following:

This happens every time I save a file and I believe this same issue is causing problems with what's being checked back into TFS. Other users see versions of the file that are different from the one I check in. That is to say, the changes I make prior to check in may or may not appear to users who check out the file after me.

Errors when try to start RoboSource Control 3.1

I was just issued a new desktop PC (Windows 7 SP1, 64 bit) at work. I have had to reload all of my software including AdobeTCS 3.5.

After installing TCS 3.5, Adobe RoboSource Control 3.1 is a separate folder under the main Adobe folder (Program FIles (x86) > Adobe > Adobe RoboSource Control 3.1). So it should be "installed."
I have also downloaded the RoboSource 64 bit fix and copied it into the Adobe RoboSource Control 3.1 folder (renaming the original version of the file).
Note that RoboSource Control Server is installed on a separate server machine.

When I click RSO3Explore.exe to start the app, I first get a message that the Publisher cannot be verified (I select Run), and then I get the message that "RSO3 Explorer Component has stopped Working" and then "RSO3 Middle Tier Server Component has stopped Working". I am forced to close the program.

In Task Manager > Processes, I have 2 instances of "RSO3MiddleTierService.exe *32" running.
In Task Manager > Services, I have no instance of "RSO3MiddleTierService.exe *32" running.
When I run services.msc, I see no instance of any RoboHelp service running.

I don't know what's wrong..... has anyone else using RoboSource Control seen this problem?

Robo Source Control 3.1 : History and change reports are allways empty. I only see titles on the file report.htm (using IE9 or Google Chrome).

Hi,

Where can I find a good tutorial/manual on RoboSource Control? The help included with the source control is pretty cryptic to say the least.

I managed to install RoboSource Control, and my team has been using it all these years. But I've never delved into the more powerful features like Pinning, Tagging, Branching, whatnot. As our team consists of multiple writers working on the same project, the source control works transparently, enabling us to complete our task, but I've been rather scared of doing anything more than that.

The help doesn't say much. Nor does Google.

Any help, pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Invalid Object Name 'NG3Node'

Hi folks,

On a windows 7 platform, connecting to a Windows 2008 server with SQLExpress2005 for RoboSource Control 3.1.

I wanted to start a new WebHelp website, and so went on to the SQL server and used the Robosource Server Configurator to create it. No problem.

But when I went onto my windows 7 computer to create a connection using RoboSource Control 3.1 Explorer,

I open the Open RoboSource Database window
Go into the "Or Create a New Connection" section.
Enter the fields like I have done for twenty other projects.
Click Create Connection and I get the message box: Invalid Object Name 'NG3 Node'

I can open and work with all the existing databases, I just cannot create a new connection.

I did see the post about using the same logins, not quite sure that I understand this. I have computer ==> server on network.

map id file (project.ali) in source countrol

When editing the map IDs of a topic, then the order of the map id's in the project.ali file is always changed. When using source control, this often generates conflicts, because a merge isn't easily done. Is it possible to leave the order of the ids in the ali file as it is?

Using RoboHelp10 and ClearCase8

Hi,

I am trying to use ClearCase8 as the source control with RoboHelp10. I have ClearCase installed on my machine, and I have RoboHelp installed.

In the toolbar for source control, I see the option to Add the project to source control. When I click that button, a window appears with ClearCase listed. I select it, and click OK, the window closes, and then nothing happens. I must be missing a step to tie the two together. Any idea what it could be?

Robohelp - TFS Mapping issue for different versions

Hi,

I'm using Adobe Robohelp 9 with Team Foundation Server 2012 on Windows 7 - 64 bit. I've also installed Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2012 MSSCCI Provider. I've mapped all the project folders on my machine. We create HTML help (.chm) for our application.

I have different versions for each module of our entire product on Team Foundation Server 2012 (As we have multiple modules in our product), for example x+1, x+2, x+3 and so on.

Each module has different Robohelp projects for every version/branch. This means, if the Online help for any module from any version is changed, we update it in the respective version of the Online help project.

When we move on to the next version, due to binary files, the next version contains the same path and properties of previous version. We need to have different project for single module for the next version. For this, I have changed the TFS project path of every .xpj project for every version. For example, if I'm working on version x+2, then I've changed the TFS project path from x+1 to x+2 manually on x+2 version/branch and then started working on it.

As these Robohelp projects (for each module) are mapped to my local folder on C drive, it shows a single workspace mapped with same path on my machine. This should be the ideal condition for my all projects as follows:

But sometimes when I try to update any file from version x+2 and then check-in my changes, the changes are getting checked-in to the previous version, i.e. x+1. And if I see the workspace of the x+1 version, it shows one more wrong workspace added below the correct one. This new workspace contains the Source control folder path of x+1 version and the Local folder path of x+2 version. That means, my robohelp project folder of x+2 version from my local drive is getting mapped to TFS folder of version x+1. That is why all the changes done in Robohelp project files from x+2 version are going in to x+1 version.

The strange here is when I try to check-in my changes in x+2, it shows the correct path of x+2 version. But they all go to x+1 version, which should not happen.

If anyone can help me in this problem, it would be a great help!

Perforce and .xpj files

I've setup a couple of RoboHelp projects in Perforce using this guide: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/articles/perforce-integration.html

Everything is working fine, aside from the .xpj file from RoboHelp (that contains the source control connection details) also syncs with the Perforce server, and if multiple users connect to the project, it does not save each user's details to the .xpj file.

Excluding the .xpj file from syncing with Perforce means that when you first pull the files down from Perforce, you cannot open the project (as there is no .xpj to open!). If you don't exclude it, you can open the project once with your Perforce login details, but next time you open the project in RoboHelp, it asks you to login with the users details that first added the project to Perforce.

Anyone any ideas? And i hope i explained that clearly enough

Error Message - Project is missing or has been removed from version control

All of a sudden, the SharePoint RoboHelp version control "link" stopped connecting to the team's local versions. Now, once we logout of RH, we have to redownload the SP version to our computers in order to continue working. We are on RoboHelp 10 and did not have this issue previously. We do not know what may have triggered it (perhaps an enterprise deployment of new security software?). Any thoughts or ideas on how to re-establish and MAINTAIN the version control connection?

Has anyone used GitHub with RH projects?

Does anyone have any experience using GitHub with RoboHelp? I don't plan on setting it up to use the RoboHelp UI to check individual topics in and out. I just want to check out the entire project. If anyone has any experience with this, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also, can anyone please tell me which files to exclude when checking in the project? I know you're supposed to exclude the .cpd file, but I think I read that there are others. Unfortunately, I can't find the thread where this was discussed.

I'm trying to get RoboHelp 9 set up with Subversion. Thus far I'm using the RH UI to do everything, but I've seen posts from others saying they check the entire project in and out of source control. Can comeone please elaborate on how that works? I know that there are some files that you don't add to source control, such as the .cpd file. So how do you set everything up? Are you checking the folder that contains the project in and out? If so, how do you omit the files that are supposed to be excluded?

Robo Source Control getting corrupted

Using RH10 and RSC, my files are getting corrupted. I am using Windows 7 64bit and I DID apply the 64 bit patch. We have been noticing small things going wrong recently and thought it was RH10 since no problems were observed in RH9.

I know that RH10 made some network changes, could this be effecting my project? I am pulling everything possible out of version control to avoid further corruption. Some projects must be in Source Control.

Is anyone else having this problem? Some corruption is local and some is remote.

Is RoboSource Control compatible with Windows 8?

RoboSource control will work on SQL Server Express 2012, or is some earlier version required.
Is RoboSource control a more elegant (more integrated) solution than a 3rd party SVC system, such as our Perforce system (with MSSVC plugin installed on RH.)

Hi. I'm curious if anyone has any experience or tips to share about a RoboHelp environment that uses BOTH source control and cloud sharing.

My company uses perforce. I'm purchasing a couple copies of TCS5, one for me in California, one for writer colleague in Europe. I'd like to use Perforce for version control/backup, but use Dropbox for RH asset sharing and sync. Is this workabout? I'm guessing that the Dropbox/sync mechnism won't work if one or both of us has not checked out a file that needs to be (automatically via sync) updated. ("Not checked out" = file is in read only state.)

If RH automatically checks files in/out of perforce in order to complete a cloudshare sync, that would be most cool!

No versions to test restoring a topic on RSC

I have a question.

I am using Robohelp 9 client and RoboSource Control 3.1. I just installed RoboSource Control 3.1 two days ago. It appeared to load my project to the database correctly. Yesterday I updated several topics and generate and published them to our website, all is looking good. Today I decide to test the restoring of a verson of that topic but when I opened up RSC an viewed the history there was only 1 version the initial load. I had used RSC two years ago and then it always showed the versions you could chose from but now there is only one version.

What is the problem?

RoboHelp 10 not integrating with TFS 2102

Hi all,

I'm trying to integrate RoboHelp 10 with TFS 2012 so I can use source control through it.

I've run through this tutorial: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/articles/robohelp-tfs-integration.html but when I go to click "Add to Version Control", I don't see TFS as a version control provider. All I get is RoboHelp SharePoint Connector.

I've also tried modifying my registry following this topic: http://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/registry-settings-microsoft-team-foundation.html but I get the same results using that.

I can access the TFS server through Visual Studio's Team Explorer, and I've mapped my project folder through Team Explorer's Source Control Explorer.

I'm not sure what else I can do at this point.

Any help anyone can provide on the matter would be appreciated.

RoboHelp 10 stops working when a checked in topic is modified

RoboHelp 10 stops working every time when I open a checked in topic and make a change forcing the topic to be checked out automatically. This worked perfectly in all previous versions of RoboHelp. After restarting the program, the desired topic is checked out. Checking topics out manually before editing works without a crash.

I have uninstalled source control and reinstalled with no help. This did help with placing images which also stopped RoboHelp 10 from working. When placing an image and you click on the browse folders that worked ok. It was when you clicked on the next folder resulted in the lockup ... every time. Reinstalling source control fixed that.

Automatic checkout of topics however crashes every time. I have a local copy of my project and the server is accessed via VPN 3000 miles away. I have never had any problem until Robo10. Nothing has changed in our VPN or network since Robo9 which worked perfectly. Also RoboHelp works very fast at first but after a few hours takes a very long time to check out or check in topics. It is faster to close everything without checking in, reboot the PC, and then check in. It is necessary to do this a couple times a day.

I am running a Dell Laptop i7, Win 7-64, and a roadrunner lightening connection (45Mbps down/5.8Mbps up). Nothing else running on the network to eat up bandwidth. CPU usage ~25%. Memory 3.5GB/8Gb. I have installed the 64bit patch for Source Control immediately after reinstall of Source Control.

Ideas??

Making project copy while removed from version control in TFS did not work in RH10

Hi all,

I finished one version of my project in RH9, removed it from version control in TFS, copied the entire project to a new folder called RH10, updated the copied project to RoboHelp 10 and then placed it back under version control in TFS. Although my .xpj file is being opened from the new folder, when RH checks in files to TFS, my files are still listed as located in the old RH9 folder on my local machine. I had wanted to keep that old folder as a previous version (luckily I actually made two copies of it when it was out of version control!) but don't know how to set RH10 up so that it is using the files in the new folder and saving them there.

I saw these directions in another post, based on a Rick Stone article which I personally have not been able to find, but am not sure if this works for TFS as well. Caution in this case being the better part of valour, would one of you gurus confirm or deny for me please?

1. Open the project you want to copy in RoboHelp, and make sure you ‘get’ the latest set of files from RSC. Close the project.

2. In Windows Explorer, copy the local version of the RoboHelp project to a new folder.

3. Select all the files in the new folder and make sure they are all writable (right-click > Properties > untick Read only > OK).

4. Delete the copy’s <projectname>.cpd and pblsvrs.sss files.

5. Open the copy’s <projectname>.xpj file in Notepad and replace this section:
