Unable to find Adobe PDF resource files/Expired Certificate

A user running CS4 is unable to use the Save As PDF (the Acrobat COM Add-on - not the native Office feature) function from Office 2007. The error displayed is:

Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files.

"Acrobat PDFMaker"

You must have Administrator privileges to install these files. Please contact your local system administrator."

I have done the repair install with no change. This error still occurs.

In researching this issue I visited the Office Trust Center and found that the Adobe Systems, Incorporated VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2004 CA certificate expired on 11/5/2009. The user believes this is when the error started to occur.

Is the certificate the cause of this error? Is there a newer code signing certificate available?

Any other suggestions on getting this issue resolved?

After Latest Update, Acrobat no longer works

Yesterday the Adobe updater came up saying that there were some updates to install. After installing the updates, Acrobat now comes up with a Fatal Error. It said something to the effect Acrobat failed to load its core dll file and I also got an error saying:
acrodist.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000022). Click OK to terminate the application.

Here is my setup:
Design Premium CS4 with Acrobat 9 Pro

Windows Vista Ultimate

I tried running a repair re-install and that didn't work. Still get the same error. If someone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I'm having a problem with a single machine running Acrobat 7 Std that was bundled with MS Office Basic on a Dell Optiplex. XP SP2, 1 GB RAM, specs should be ok.

The user keeps getting the error "Application Failed to Load its Core DLL". A restart will temporarily fix the issue but it comes back. All updated have been applied.

Any ideas?

THANKS!!!

ADA compliant PDFS versus HTML

Hi all,

I help maintain a large site with thousands of pdfs. In the past few months, we have only been posting ADA compliant PDFs. Since we don't create the majority of these (most are created by third party designers using In-Design), we rely on software (CommonLook) to remediate these documents. This process is really complicated and time-consuming. Lately our vendors have been providing us with compiant pdfs but we are still required to vet each document page-by-page.We are required to have a Commonlook generated MHT file for each pdf that shows the document has been run through Commonlook and meets all checkpoints.

My coworker and I were wondering if it would be less work-intensive (and more screen-reader friendly) to create ADA compliant HTML from these PDFs somehow. I have looked at some tools that convert PDFs to HTML and so far none are very helpful. It would be ideal to find a product (or features of Acrobat X) that converts these publications into ADA compliant html pages.

Is this a viable strategy? Are there better ways to approach this problem? Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!

R.
Problem with Sharepoint - Adobe Acrobat integration (renaming files issue)

Hi huys,

I am having a weird issue when editing PDF documents from a Sharepoint Document Library, the corporation uses Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. For some reason Acrobat is renaming automatically the filename, leaving it broken with the following pattern: "aaa0000", being this 3 letters and 4 numeric digits. I am suspecting that there is an issue with synchronization when the document is checked-out and opened in the program. The client told me that this issue is not always present, sometimes he edits and saves the document with no problem, but 2 of each 5 documents are presenting this behavior.

I know other person posted this exact issue like 2 years ago but he got no response, the link is the following:

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/703862

As the problem is the same, I will not extend too much again with the issue explanation. I couldn't find anything searching the web related to this issue, so I hope you guys can give me a hint about what's going on, and perhaps a workaround for the issue, as well as a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Regards!

How to insert a preview photo on each PDF file when creating a portfolio?

I would like to create a portfolio containing 4 3D-PDF files (here in this sample presending only 2). The problem is that in the portfolio it tries to preview the PDF, but it can't since it's a 3D model, so it appears like this:

Is it possible to add a preview photo in the portfolio to each "slide" instead of adding another first page containg a photo to each PDF file? I would like that each PDF file would contain only the 3D model.

Thank you

Up to 10 seconds to open a one-page file. More if the file is larger. This is really annoying, as I am opening files all the time. It doesn't help if I close the program after each file is printed, or leave it open and just closing the file.
Acrobat Pro V8.1.2 "Invalid Page Range" Error - Rotate Pages

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8.1.2. For the last couple of weeks every time I try to rotate a page in any direction I get the following error:

"Invalid Page Range" (OK)

I have tried every combination of options for amount of rotation and page range (all, selected, specify). No matter what I do I get the same message. I have tried this on several different documents both encrypted and unencrypted.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The piece has a solid background and interactive buttons. InDesign is set to have a blend space of RGB. Upon viewing the exported interactive PDF, it's obvious that Acrobat is choosing to render different pages with slightly different blending such that the constant solid background color (among other elements) change apparent color when flipping through the document. Is there any way to force the screen rendering to be consistent? I've tried flattening, but that's purposed for printing and thus ruins all the interactivity.

thanks!

JP

When I export a PDF from InDesign CS3 to Acrobat 8, the PDF opens with a dull "wash" over the entire pages.

When I scroll or move thru the document in Acrobat, I briefly see the pages properly (vivid color, rich blacks) for a split-second, then this grayish "wash" appears over everything. This even happens in the Print preview dialog.

It seems to print OK, but executives will be opening & viewing this file and not always printing. I'm getting comments like "can you fix the color?"

My color settings are synchronized thru Bridge.

Any insight is much appreciated!!

What can be done about the faint lines that appear in some Word tables that have been pdf'ed? I say some because the problem only occurs in merged, shaded cells. Half the vertical lines of a cell are normal and half are noticeably thinner and print that way. If shading is removed before pdf'ing, there is no problem. Does anybody have a workaround for this other than not shading table rows? I'm currently using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended but it has happened in older versions too. thanks.

Any additional ways to edit files saved as HTML?

I own Acrobat 9 Pro. It's megacool and today I got to looking at some of the extra features and realized I probably don't have to go out and find a PDF-to-HTML converter. I say "probably" because I just ran a test saving a text-only PDF file as HTML from Acrobat. I've been doing Web design for years, and when I opened up the resulting file in my HTML editor there were problems. Although id does include CSS -- a must-have -- there were still a large number of style settings that needed to be eliminated and all handled by a single CSS selector. I tried doing a search-and-replace in Dreamweaver, which normallly works very quickly even over an entire site, and it started grinding away like my antivirus software does during a deep scan of my hard drives. I did look at the output options in Acrobat, but there was nothing there that indicated I could gain more control over the nature of HTML it generates. Any tips?

Blank dialog boxes in Acrobat X Pro

I just installed CS5.5 Design Pro. So far everything looks like it's working properly except for Acrobat X Pro. Documents come up just fine, but when I select Print, the dialog box is missing text. The screen shot, below, shows what I get. Dialog boxes in the other programs of the Suite show text.

Many months ago, before getting CS5.5, I installed Acrobat Reader X. I had the same problem with it, no text in the dialog boxes. Thought it may be a bug that would be fixed when I ordered CS5.5. Acrobat 9 Pro worked fine, but X removed 9 during installation. Help!

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit OS SP1, 6GB RAM and have 524GB free on my hard drive, plus over 1TB free on an external drive.
