Hello,

Is anyone able to sync their proto (iOS) files to the creative cloud? This worked last summer (2013) but it's no longer syncing. I am logged in with the correct adobe account and the app just says: "Sync process: Awaiting Connection" with no movement. i know my iPad is connected to wi-fi as i was able to have the new Lightroom iOS app sync properly from the creative cloud.

Is anyone able to sync lately?

Why won't Dreamweaver CC open proto files, while Dreamweaver CS6 does

I just found out that Dreamweaver CC gives an error when trying to open an Adobe Proto file: "error extracting the proto file".

That's weird, because Dreamweaver CC uses the same plugin/extension as Dreamweaver CS6 does, or am I missing something here...

Opening the same proto file in Dreamweaver CS6 works without problems.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Text paragraph editing

What is the point of text paragraph without being able to edit it? It limits the way of using proto to the point of being fun, but useless.

Why can't I download the extension to allow Dreamweaver to recognize .pro files?

I understand that Adobe has decided to abandon Adobe Proto. I don't understand why they removed acces to the extension that allows Dreamweaver the ability to use the .pro files that Proto makes. I just barely purchased adobe Proto on December 14th, and I wasnt able to use it until the 25th as my iPad was a christmas gift. In between those two dates, adobe decides to basically render my purchase useless. I think that this is dumb. Does anybody have anhy information about my problem? Where I can get the extension elsewhere maybe. I want either a refund of my purchase or the extension.

Bug finds - Me or everyone?

Its been roughly a week since I've begun using Proto for wireframing and the results have been mostly positive. I've deliberately held out until they updated their sharing options. Thankfully, those changes have been made.

In using Proto I've come across a few bugs/glitches that aren't insurmountable, just an inconvenience. So let me know.... Is it just me? Or are you experiencing any of these issues as well?

1- There seems to be an issue with the grouping feature. Once a section is laid out I tend to group things to make it easier to arrange items. I would assume that's why this feature was implemented.

However, the issue arises when previewing the HTML output. Grouping tends to destroy the layout, sending duplicate divs to the top of the page. Once I ungroup all elements, the page layout is the way I intended.

2- The lipsum paragraph tool.

When viewing the HTML output (code wise) you will notice that the lipsum text is actually MUCH longer than you initially intended. It's easy to delete this and move on with life. Just an inconvenience.

3- Page positioning.

This one isnt so much a glitch as it is a complaint. All layouts are out left oriented, no matter what. I've had to add a wrapper div and margin: 0 auto; in order to overcome this. It seems like a simple enough feature and widespread enough in usage that one would think that this needs to be the default (or at the very least an option).

That's it for now.... Is it just me or any of you experiencing the same issues? Take care

Adobe proto loses work

Why does proto lose work? On numerous occasions it simply doesn't save edits! Bloody annoying! Anybody know why? Some comments on the app store suggested it did this but I assumed it would be very infrequent if it did it at all. Not so! Turns out its a very frequent behaviour, almost a feature!!

Any help would be good.

How to center wireframe layout in browser window

HELP!!

I've created a set of wireframes for a website in Proto but when I bring them up in a browser window the layout is always left aligned and I cannot figure out how to get the layout to center in the browser window.

I've used margin: 0 auto; on the container div but it does no good, the layout stays left aligned. I'm about to pull my hair out on this one.

This is probably a very simple question, but I've been tinkering for a couple hours and can't figure out a quick, easy way to center the wireframe developed in Proto on a page, then to make all div's within the wireframe relative rather than AP.

It would make the tool an awful lot more productive for me if there were a simple way to do this when creating in the app...

Does this question/thought make sense? Has anyone found an easy way to manage this?

Just trying out Adobe Proto to see if it might be useful for work. However, I want to prototype an iPad app. Is there a way to create a full screen app, that's 1024 x 768 in order to actually replicate an iPad app. The defaults don't seem to have it, but surely there must be a way as it's such a standard use case.

Is it possible?

I'd like to compliment the Proto team on their bold decision and big achievement, to prove that a set of tools alongside an application are a thing of the past.

I've been showing Proto to dozens of designers, and they all drop their jaws when they see how the gestures work. They expect some adapted iOS pinch and two-or-more finger swipes (which they never really understood or memorized), until they see how a simple single finger gesture yields a complex page in seconds. Their smile is priceless, worth much more than 8 Euro's...

I just tried to install the new Dreamweaver Extension that seems to open Proto-files. The Extension Manager happily informs me that the installation succeeded, I quit/restart Dreamweaver as always, but the .pro files (on my Mac) are still grayed out upon Open, and I can't seem to find any other way. Am I missing something ?

I'm using a Dutch version of Dreamweaver as part of a Creative Cloud membership.

Due to persisting problems with registering and updating, I don't have the latest updates yet. Might that be the cause ? I'm stuck on version 12.0.0.5808 for now...

Aleks here, PLEASE create an update for Proto where you can import your own pictures.

I make apps for kids www.gnomiekids.com, I got Adobe Proto for the purpose of creating wireframes to show my coders how the app is going to flow and be designed. This is very important as obviously so much can be lost in translation between designers and engineers! I'm sure the entire Proto audience would love to be able to layout their wireframes visually as close to the final project as possible, so we can communicate clearly to the rest of our team. Thank you, we are designing a new application right now and I'd love to lay it out in Proto.

I've long been looking for the perfect wireframe/prototype app. I think Adobe Proto will be it (I have faith in you guys!), but there are some things missing in my opinion. Here's my wish list for the perfect app:

Link to external files - both as a nav option and as a notation option (eg, say I want to link to a certain jQuery plugin demo so that the client or developer fully understands how the element should behave).
Arrange Order - set the z index of objects, like in all other Adobe programs (and most other prototype programs).
External Images - (or pull in images from your creative cloud?) some clients just can't deal with a wireframe if it doesn't have their logo in it ;-) There are plenty of other useful reasons for this though.
UI elements - it would be great to drag and drop more UI elements, especially when prototyping for mobile. A good start would be:
1. Slider
2. Search Bar
3. Mobile/Tablet keyboard
4. Pagination elements
5. Multi Picker / App-style select lists
6. Calendar elements
7. Map element
8. Tooltip element
9. Handy UI icons to quickly convey functional elements (like multimedia, camera, social networks, etc)
Tables - I rarely use tables in programming, but they are handy in prototyping so that you can set up a quick grid for things like products in a store. Any type of column interface would help
Mix up Lorem Ipsum - it doesn't look so good when I put 3 colums of identical Lorem Ipsum side by side.
Simple Shapes - there are times when it is useful to visualize something other than a rectangle (circle, triangle, rounded rectangle)

I think this program is an awesome start, and I definitely work much faster in this program than other prototype programs, which is why I wanted to bring every suggestion I could think of. Good work!

Text Editing Inconsistencies

I have installed proto and started using it. Lots of potential there!

I am; however, experiencing inconsistencies with editing of the text elements. Double taps don't always work and it seems that the paragraph text element is not editable (is that true?).

I would suggest that editable elements receive a link in the context menu (which now only includes delete and duplicate). This would be a much more intuitive way to edit the items.

Great app and keep it up.

I just bought Proto for iPad, and when I exported my document to Creative Cloud, the only option I have in the "Choose a file format for download" dropdown is "Original," which is (as far as I can tell) an unusable file if you're not interested in Dreamweaver. Is there a way to export a PDF, PNG, or ZIP? If not, then Proto is basically worthless for me.

I am using Proto on a ipad 3 with the most current ios. I created a mock up and I worked on it for a number of days and then the file curreptd and it crashes proto when I try and open it. I have 2 other versions of the file that open just fine. I need that version of the mock up for a presentation. Any ideas on how I can fix the file? I did download it and open it in Dreamweaver, so I did not loose the file completly, but I would like to be able to make changes to the mockup while I am talking to my client.

Hi,

I bought Adobe Proto on my iPad and I have made my new site in it. Now I would like to get it into my trial version of Dreamweaver CS6. I have installed the extension through the Exstention Manager. But how do I get in touch with the file - I cannot find anything on the menu/Interface in Dreamweaver that indicates how to connect to Creative Cloud.

I need to say; I have no Creative Cloud account so far - I would like to see how it works before spending any money. I thing the price i quite steep and in some way I find it unfair that I need to pay a monthly fee when I have bought the app and have to buy Dreamweaver CS6 also.

Are there minor free space at Creative Cloud?

it would be surely helpful to make it possible to duplicate a project and make it fit for mobile by changing the grid size while having all the elements rather than having to build it up from scratch...

Also sizes are fixed (width and length) which gets annoying as it hampers design flexibility needs.

As it is it's still not too useful a tool (and not cheap at that)

Installing Proto DW extension fails

When attempting to install the Dreamweaver Proto extension, I get an error message stating "The extension "Adobe Proto Dreamweaver Extension" does not contain valid signature. The extension will not be installed." Is there a fix for this?

My changes to a duplicated page are not syncing up in the Creative Cloud. How can I fix this?

I'm using Adobe Proto on an iPad. I created one page and successfully viewed it in the Creative Cloud. Then I duplicated that 1st page so I could work on the next page in that project. I made some changes to the 2nd page and then synced the project with the Creative Cloud again.

Once I try to view the 2nd page in the Creative Cloud, it's still an exact copy of the 1st page. In other words, my changes on the 2nd page don't show up. I've tried synching the project many times and I get the same result. Tried opening the project from another browser, same result.

My changes to a duplicated page are not syncing up in the Creative Cloud. How can I fix this?

960 Grid output - not absolute DIV's

I have Proto on an Android tablet, and I see it uses the 960 grid system for layout, great for alignment and happy with it. The only issue I see is that when looking at the exported site in Dreamweaver, all the DIV tags are absolute, there is no mention of the 960 Grid Styles in any of the style sheets (http://960.gs). If we are to develop sites for multiple devices, surely the output to Grid would be more beneficial than absolute DIV tags. Is there anyway of adding grid div's to a Proto layout, which work. I've tried and can't seem to find any way of doing it?

An option to print would be nice too.

When I create a new document in Adobe Proto and choose template Web Layout (960px) and set the number of columns to 16 and Gutter Space to 20, at the top of the popup it says:

Column Width: 59 pixels Margin Width: 20 pixels

Which is incorrect, it should generate a 60 pixel column:

Column Width: 60 pixels Margin Width: 20 pixels

Also when I create a new document in Adobe Proto the default template parameters are: Template Web Layout (960px), # of Columns 12, Gutter Space 20. Which results in Column Width: 60 pixels Margin Width: 10 pixels.

So far so good, but if I change # of columns to whatever and then come back to 12, i get the following result: Column Width: 59 pixels Margin Width: 10 pixels

Both of errors described above result in a broken column snapping (columns aren't aligned with the grid).

Hope you can fix this.

One common CSS File

Right now for every page you create it creates a seperate CSS file, even if the pages are duplicated and identical. Identical pages should have identical elements named the same and share a common css file.

Is there any logic to how Proto generates the div layout/structure?

I created a simple wireframe, just for experimentation. Once extracted into Dreamweaver, though, I was a little confused as to how/why the div structure was set the way it was. For example, my header and navbar were placed at the end of my div structure in the code, rather than where I would have expected them to be - near the top of my mark up. That's the way I would normally have coded things, and the header and navbar were also the first two elements I added to the wireframe. Just finding it odd they ended up at the bottom of the div structure.

Is there a reason for this? Does Proto change the div order as I nest additional content into a specific div?

Or better yet, is there a best practices for how I should created my wireframes in Proto?

Rename divs and elements inside Proto

It would be great if we could rename the divs etc into something somewhat more useful within Proto. As it is you get a large CSS list of numbered divs etc that really don't mean anything.

Multiple Page Preview ( Updated Aug 08, 2012 )

Hi,

I created a Proto Wireframe with 9 pages which I can preview fine on the iPad, after I was finished it Synced without issue from the iPad to the Creative Cloud servers.

When I logged in to Creative Cloud on my laptop it recognized that there were 9 pages but when I scroll through the thumbnail previews of the 9 pages it only displays the screenshot of the first page over and over through out the 9 thumbnails. When I click the magnifying glass to preview the HTML it still only displays the first page no matter which one i'm on.

I tried to search for others with a similar problem but was unable to find any.

I'm not sure if im doing something wrong, or it just takes a while to upload all of the pages. Please advise.

I'm not sure what the point of building something like Proto and the Creative Cloud ( with sharing option ) if you are not able to preview the entire wireframe to your client or team without physcially being there with an iPad?

Trouble with Adobe Proto and Creative Cloud

Hey,

I've created a prototype on my iPad using Proto. I'ts a simple mockup with just a few base elements, and 2 pages.

When it syncs to Creative Cloud, it shows as 3 pages (it's only 2) and all three pages are the first page. So I don't get the second page, instead I get the first page three times.

I've tried deleting and creating a new document, nothing. Proto is updated to the latest version.

My second problem with proto, is that when I export my prototype and send it via e-mail on my iPad, it adds extra elements. For instance it duplicates a paragraph element in the header, for absolutely no reason, that element isn't there in the document.

Please advise, Proto is basically useless with these flaws.
