I tried adding the dependent file Default-414w-736h@3x.png but it crops the app. Any ideas? I read people using Air were having problems as well, but I think adobe did an update. Do we need an update for Director to make full screen apps for the iphone 6 plus? - I did get the regular 6 to work with Default-375w-667h@2x.png.

I developing a Kiosk on iOS platform (iPad), based on Director.

For several days, an error "Handler not defined : #cameraPosition" has been appearing.

I don't use any handler with this name and if I search in the script case, I don't find any text like that.

I've found a property with this name in the doc, but this is for 3D cast and I don't have any 3D cast in my movie.

Somebody has some idea?

i have found a cdrom of family pics and after a day i managed to extract the .cst files, i used GIMP as an external editor to get the photos BUT i only done it one image at the time.

I have probably around 400 images and its gonna take me forever ^^

Is there a way to extract more than just one by one?

i saw the Chrome web store and its new "Chrome desktop app" store, and i have a question:

Is possible to use shockwave to create an app for this store ?

Does anybody tried it ?

I would like to know if is possible to use the chrome store ( and its servers ) to upload an app , obviusly i don’t want that my app is on my server, but only on the google servers.

Is it possible ?

" The overall process was relatively straightforward and I wanted to share my experiences in this post. Some of this will apply to all Chrome WebStore extensions, however some will apply more to those who are developing games using the Unity 3D game engine.

Munchy Bunny! needed to be altered in various ways so that it would work more comfortably within a web browser environment. This included the removal of iOS specific features like leaderboards and achievements. Unless I can find a generic leaderboard/achievement solution (suggestions would be welcome!) that will work outside of game centre, I may need to create an alternative solution for a future commercial release of the extension.

I also spent a little time tweaking quality settings for the webplayer version to reduce the overall size of the built game.

From the build settings I experimented with both the native client (for Chrome) and the usual Unity WebPlayer. I feel that these each have their own advantages and disadvantages. I think that for me the most significant advantage that the Unity WebPlayer has over NaCl is that it supports joystick input. I am a big fan of the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows and I love the fact that it can be used to play games that I make!

I uploaded and tested both the WebPlayer and the NaCl version. The NaCl version was approximately 120MB uncompressed (about 32MB compressed if memory serves). The WebPlayer version is approximately 8MB (both compressed and uncompressed). I was initially led to believe (from forums) that a limit of 10MB was in place, but this did not seem to be the case. Again, please feel free to comment if you are aware of any size limitations for extensions.

I customized the HTML file that was generated by adding a background and colour scheme in-keeping with the game. As far as the application is concerned, that pretty much just leaves the following:

Create a manifest file to describe the extension to the Chrome WebStore.

Take some screenshots (or provide video preview on YouTube).

Write a description and provide artwork for icon.

Publish extension for testing.

Finally, unpublish extension and then publish for release.

I used the `manifest.json` file that was generated for NaCl version as a starting point and then altered it to work with the non-NaCl version instead. Here is the manifest file that I created:

My version numbers consist of three parts (1.0.4 for example) however you may notice the presence of an the additional “.5″ number. It took 5 revisions before I was happy to submit my extension for the masses. Each submission of an extension must have a newer version number, so adding the fourth part allows this without altering the release version each time for trivial changes.

With Munchy Bunny! the idea is to keep version numbering consistent across all platforms. Currently the iPhone/iPad is running version 1.0.3, for example. The demo version is 1.0.4 in this case because it contains improvements that have not yet been applied to the mobile version.

This is quite an important concept to bare in mind because otherwise you could loose some control over your version numbers (like accidentally releasing 2.0.4 instead of 1.0.4). There doesn’t appear to be a way to correct this without deleting the extension and starting over (which could mean loss of reviews and valuable feedback from end-users).

My game does not require a connection to the Internet once it has been installed. So I added the “offline_enabled” property. I needed to adjust the launch path so that it would launch the WebPlayer instead of the NaCl version.

Having done this all I needed to do was to zip the following files for submission:

I found the whole process surprisingly straightforward, and the extension became available immediately for download. It took just over 24 hours before the extension was available via search facility of store, and about 3 days before appearing in Google search results. "

Hotfix4 shows IOS status bar at the top

After updated to Director 12 with Hotfix4 a week ago, my ipad/iphone apps have a IOS status bar shows up at the top. Which didn't show in previous hotfix.

Any one know a way to make this "IOS status bar" (with battery, time, wifi, 3g status symbols) disappear or hidden?

Huge file size?

Hi all,

I am creating as very basic Director file (or so i thought) in Director 10.1 with some pictures in. There are about 20 images and each one is about 200-400kb each.

Yet when I import them they come in as a huge filesize!?!? This has never happened to me before...

When I look at the side panel it tells me they are bitmaps with a file size of, for example, 23.7MB but I know its just a jpg of a few hundred kbs.

As a result my dir file, and thereafter my dxr file, is huge when the content therein is just a few megabytes in total.

I have never had this before - all my previous projects are a reasonable size?

Please can anyone advise?

Hello I have a List question

I am stuck writing this line of code

He is my project

I need to "rank" in descending order 50 game contestants

The names of the contestants are in fields "contestants1" to "contestants50"

The scores of the contestants are in fields "score1" to "score50"

A property list will have or be created ? Yes? No?

Then that list will have to be sorted with "best score" to "lowest score" and the "contestant" name with the score in the list. Example if Brandon ends up being in 32nd place with 344 points the list would have the player name and result.

**I am familiar with max() however, that is only going to give me one result .. I need them reordered descending

Lastly the really easy part the sorted list placed in a filed cast member "FinalResults"

Installing Project

I have fairly large set of movies and sound files that go with my program. The projector is accompnaied by these two huge folders.

Is there any way to hide these folders before installing the program on Mac. The reason why I am concerned only for Mac is that in Mac, the program gets installed in the Applications folder right next to the icon for the projector. This folder containing all the necessary files for the programis readily visible to the user. Is there some way when someone opens this folder, they wont see the sound and the movie files that are in it. In my mind, they are a bit of dirty laundry and I want to keep them away from the eyes of the user. The movie files are all protected and cannot be opened but the sound files are all plain files. I am less concerend about ripping than just having an elegant solution.

Director 12 iOS app question

So, I'll try to keep this short but clarify as best I can:

I work for a school district IT department. We currently have a teacher who has been developing and updating Director tutorials back to the Director 4 days. This summer he is doing a major updating effort to update his tutorials using Director 12 (He last did this effort to bring Director 10 compatibility.)

He also wants to consider republishing them for iOS compatbility.

Putting aside the intellectual property issues of who owns the application code (that may end up in lawyers' hands), what does it take to get final apps working on an iOS 7 iPad?

Is it possible that we may choose to not publish to the App Store and use an in-house Apple provisioning profile through the Apple Enterprise Developer Connection membership and side load these finished tutorials on iPads? Do we have to publish to the App Store? If we do a free app in the Store, do we have to give Adobe a payment? Paid app?

Putting aside those type of issues, how hard is it for most folks to recompile such apps for iOS? Any pitfalls?

I'll be honest, I'm confused and would like some guidance from other folks who have actually done this.

Exporting in Director 12

I use Windows 7 and I downloaded a trial of Director 12. I have one question and one problem. My question is: How can I export MP4 and EXE files. When I use the export command it gives me only two options: 1. DIB Files sequence(.BMP) and 2. Video for Windows (.AVI). My problem is when I export with the "Video for Windows (.AVI)" option and use any video compression I get the message : "A fatal error has occured. Director will quit now.I appreciate any help.

I have some .exe projector files. They worket just fine in my old Windows XP. Since I have the new Windows 8.1 Pro I can't launch those files. It always come down with this error "This program is stopping because too many errors have occurred". I tried to install latest flash player, shockwave, run the program in WindowsXP compatible mode but still no change.....can't run those files

Director 12 (subscription) won't publish projector

I just purchased Director 12, subscription model, this morning. I am frustrated to say the least that it won't publish a simple projector on my system. It uses two xtras, BudAPI, and ImgXtra, but even if I remove them from the project, D12 still won't publish. It almost finishes, but bails about 90% through. System here is Win 7, 8Gb, D12. I've already reinstalled, and still get the same problem. Any clues on how to get D12 to publish a projector--not for IOS, rather for Windows.

I've been tasked with updating an older project by adding more selections to a menu, which work nicely. I'm developing this in Director 12 on a Mac running 10.7.5. I've created both a Mac and a Windows version of the projectors.

As a background, I was given the SWFs but have had nothing to do with the creation of them. Same is true with the Director file, but that's what I'm updating now and that is where my woes started.

The Windows projector works fine. On this simple timeline, the user clicks a button, jumping to a frame and calling upon an SWF to play. The frame has a SWF Then the user has to press a Main Menu button (in the Director environment, not the SWF) to return to the main menu.

In the Windows environment, everything works perfectly. The SWFs play -- you can see and hear each one when selected.

In the Mac environment, I can only HEAR the video. I only get what seems to be the stage color of the SWF and nothing else is seen. All other functionality in the Mac environment works. I just don't SEE the SWF play.

Now, here's the kicker... on the Mac I can see and hear the SWFs if I play them in SAFlash Player or in Flash itself.

Any thoughts?

why is the font different weight in iOS?

I am using an iOS font and yet it's thin and badly rendered until I edit the text field and then it appears bolder than it should appear.

I've been using Helvetica Neue and it looks thin on my iPad and the line size is shorter than what I have set.

Anyone else have this problem, and if so, have they found a solution?

If not please reply so I know it's just me.

Hi all,

Is it possible that Internet Explorer takes over control of the settings of the cursor in Shockwave dcr files ?

Since a couple of months I have realized that the cursor in my dcr movies does not change anymore from the default pointer despite being instructed using lingo commands.

For example:
on startMovie me
cursor 280

end

should change the cursor into a finger, but it does not.

I have also tried hiding the cursor (cursor 200) and using my own custom made custom but the default pointer refuses to disappear.

When using Google Chrome all works well.
Hower, this is not a proper solution since I cannot control the users choice using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

I would expect a lot of screams from all over the world but the lack of that makes me think there maybe a simple way to avoid this.

Any comments are very much appriciated.

when i open the project on director 11.5 the webviewer xtra don't work and director tell me that "my movie uses xtra and it not found"

but i placed the xtra and it's pundle file in the director xtra folder

I'm trying to post to a rest instance, but the instance requires application/xml mimetype to be specified. I don't seem to be able to do this using postnettext.

my code is of the form

mime = "application/xml"

netid1 = postnettext( "http://10.238.49.5/restapi", xml_job_text, "Windows", mime)

which comes back with a netdone of true and a neterror of "" (no text at all). The job submission is ignored. Any thoughts as to what stupid thing I'm doing wrong?

Quicktime and iOS

I am trying to publish a movie to iOS but am getting the following error on the ipad when the movie starts.

Director Player Error

This application requires an xtra (quicktime) that either does not exsist or failed to initialize properly....

The director project uses quicktime sound (not movies) and the movie has the Quicktime6 Asset, Quicktime Asset Options, and Quicktime Agent xtras included. I have read somewhere on the forum that iOS dosen't support video on the iOS does this mean quicktime audio files are not supported either? Or am I missing something else?

Why does my projector say it needs shockwave 12 to run?

How do I know if Hotfix 2 is installed?

I clicked on Help>updates... and the application manager opens up. This tells me that there is a Hotfix 2 available which I "update"

It downloads, tells me to shut the program down and does a whole lot of things but when I restart Director it tells me that there is a Hotfix2 update available?? How do I know if the update was successful? I can only see Ver 12.0

Apple sent me this notification email after i uploaded the file:

"Dear developer,

We have discovered one or more issues with your recent delivery for "xxxxxxxxx". To process your delivery, the following issues must be corrected:

iPhone 5 Optimization Requirement - Your binary is not optimized for iPhone 5. As of May 1, all new iPhone apps and app updates submitted must support the 4-inch display on iPhone 5. All apps must include a launch image with the -568h size modifier immediately following the <basename> portion of the launch image's filename. Launch images must be PNG files and located at the top-level of your bundle, or provided within each .lproj folder if you localize your launch images. Learn more about iPhone 5 support and app launch images by reviewing the iOS Human Interface Guidelines and iOS App Programming Guide.

Random Moving Sprite

I have a game where I want a ball(sprite 28) to move randomly until it intersects with a paddle(sprite 27), this is where I have got so far.

set the loc of sprite(28) = the loc of sprite(28) + pIncrement

if sprite 28 intersects sprite 27 then

This code does not produce any errors but it does not move the sprite, any advice on where I have gone wrong would be appreciated. Thanks

Random Location

I am trying to move a sprite randomly, this is as far as I have got but I have got the error message comma expected?

I had placed a comma between the two random numbers but it seemed more logical to put a plus sign. Both the comma and the place returned the same error message, any advice on where I have gone wrong would be very helpful thank ful.

Install MX Director on Snow Leopard. It installs ok. The programs returns an error when I start it up.

"TextXtra is required to run Director. Make sure it is in your Xtras folder"

TextXtra and all the Xtras are in the Macromedia folder. The trouble is.. they look like terminal documents and not the familiar icon of an extra.

I have reinstalled several times from disk. This program is a PPC program and Rosetta in enabled. Any thoughts about how to solve this problem?

Moving sprite randomly

I have to make a game similar to breakout where a ball moves randomly but a paddle controls how it moves and makes it collide into bricks for points.

This is where I have got so far with my code.

-- sprite 28 is the ball and sprite 27 is the paddle

move sprite(28).locv(random(350) -- I get an message with this line of code saying that a comma is expected

if sprite 28 intersects 27 then sprite(28).locv(+5) -- I don't get an error message with this line but I am not sure whether it works

I have been told by my Lectuer that I have to have a countdown timer within the game I am making but that I am not allowed to use the one within director.

I have no clue where to start with this could someone please give me some advice on how to create a simple timer or where to find the best information online about it.

Also I have thought about either adding time or freezing time as part of bonus from the game, which would be easier to implement?

Playing OS9 Projector on a modern Mac

I made a Director Projector on an old OS9 Mac back in 1998 and I've just found it and would like to play it again. I don't have the original Director file, just the stand-alone application.

I know it used to play in Rosetta emulation on older Macs but I wondered if anyone knew of a way to play it now in Mountain Lion?

arrow-shaped cursor does not change anymore

I recently noticed that my dcr Shockwave movies do not behave like before.
I have been using on mouseEnter (or on mouseWithin) to instruct the arrow-shaped cursor to change to a hand when entering (or being over) a hotspot to indicate that clicking on it will create a response.
I have been doing this for more than a decade and it worked perfectly (also in Windows 7) so far, but now I see that the shape of the cursor refuses to chance anymore.
Now, on keeping the cursor placed over a hotspot, I see the cursor change to a hand every second or so for only a split of a second.
However, clicking on the hotspot does give the required response.
I use Windows 7 and have the latest Shockwave Player 12.02.2.122 installed on my computer.

When creating a Shockwave dcr movie (I use Director 11) I see in the preview given that all works well, but after re-opening the movie it acts like described above.
When creating a Shockwave projector everything works perfectly, but for various reasons I don't want to use a projector.
It used to work perfectly on all previously made movies, so it seems like it has something to do with the latest Shockwave Player.

Does anybody have a suggestion how to solve this problem ?

Fatal error and SWF files

We have an old CD-ROM project we are updating to Director 12 from MX2004 containing SWF files that link to external FLV files. We have had repeated fatal errors when trying to do the following at varying times:

- Trying to add two new SWFs to the cast

- If they make it to the cast, trying to click on them in the cast window to check options

- If they survive living in the cast for more than a few moments, dragging them to the stage

- If they survive getting to the stage, attempting to adjust its keyframes

What could be causing repeated Fatal Errors like this for a very standard file type Director has had no problem with until now... Highly frustrating.

500 frame quicktime apearing as 30frame block in the score.

I imported a 500 frame quicktime movie into director I then draged it onto my score. On the score it only takes up 30 frames even though the movie is 500 frames. If I play the score the movie will play and will continue to play beyond the 30frame range.

If I place a 500frame quicktime onto the score I would expect to see a 500 frame cast member apear in the score not 30frame.

Can anyone help me with this issue.

How do I add playback control to a .swf file in Director 11.5 (PLEASE HELP!)

Hi,

I am currently trying to add controls (play/stop/etc) to a .swf file within Director 11.5. The movie imports fine and plays perfectly, however there does seems to be built in options to add the control in the same way you would for a .mov.

The .swf file has been created with controls and plays outside of director fine. When it is placed into director the controls disappear and leave a white space.

Is there a step by step guide somewhere or can someone give me a step by step guide? I'm fairly new to director and won't know some of the terms etc....

The movie is 30 mins long and requires the user to move to various points and pause the playback. I cannot change the format of the file either.

Please let me know if you need any more info...

PLEASE HELP, I have to complete this in 2 days.

How to make a Projector file scrollable

Is there a way or a setting that makes a published Projector file scrollable?

I have a projector file with some content off-screen (not on the stage). I want the user to be able to scroll up and bring in the off-stage content (and of course scroll to move the content back down and off the stage).
