How to catch SMPP gateway error type ?

Hi,

How can i catch different SMPP error type return by SMSC server ?

I want to catch result like 0x45,0x01,0x0B,0x58,0x15.... in my code. I can see eventgateway.log logging the error message but how do i get error type in my code ?

Has anyone used OpenMQ with the generic gateway that ships with ColdFusion 8? Also, is it true that the generic gateway only supports topics and not queues?

Why does the ActiveMQ example provide both but no the generic one?

I'm guessing being that Jrun is a j2ee 1.3 app server, and Open MQ latest needs ee 1.4 that this is a no go.

Also being that the generic gateway works with 1.0.2 compliant server (jms compliancy guessing) and openMQ is JMS 1.1 standard this is a no go.

Why doesn't anyone respond to any Gateway questions in the adobe forum? ;-)

SMS Event Gateway problem

Hello,

I am having a strange problem with my SMS Gateway. The SMPP connection to the external gateway is fine, and outgoing messages are never a problem.

The problem is to do with my incoming.cfc - the gateway instance points to "incoming.cfc" and that file is set up to send an auto reply to the incoming message and add some details to a database. Simple and it works as tested.

Every couple of days though the incoming messages stop getting added to the database, and the auto reply messages don't get generated. The log files indicate that (allthough no changes have been made to either the incoming.cfc file or any other files or configuration settings) we have somehow "switched back" to an earlier version of the incoming.cfc file - I can tell this because the wording of the return message in the logs matches this earlier version.

I have read Adobe documentation that says the gateway will use whatever incoming.cfc it is pointed to and you don't need to refresh the event gateway instance if you change the cfc - even though the old cfc has been deleted off the server entirely and the new one not changed - when the problem occurs (every other day) an instance refresh appears to fix it.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Hi i am having some problems with the smpp gateway which are

some message id are not coming back to me
lots of statuses are not coming back to me

i am not sure what i causing this out of 3000 sms sent 200 had no status returned and 60 had no message id, any ideas how i can debug or solve this i have attached my cfg file.

Directory watcher Flase event

Hi,

I am having a problem with directory watcher, environment is :

Windows 2003

Coldfusion 8.0.1

Current scenario :

My directory watcher is watching a shared folder (A) on network, and copies files from that folder to a different share folder (B) on network (Both shared folder are in different boxes)

Problem :

Sometime my onAdd fires at odd times and it starts copying all the files available on A folder to B. And when I check logs, that time no files were added in A folder.

Problem is onAdd event fires any time and I dont know why its happening.

Please Help.

Some more info:

I am not moving files from A to B, just copying, so old files remains in same folder, there are around 3000-4000 files as of now in A folder, and every day 10-12 files gets copy in A.

Is there a way to restart directory watcher interface from javascript?

Running the directory watcher gateway interface under CF8, watching a network directory, the connection to the remote server is occasionally lost, causing the interface to "fail". Is it possible to code javascript or cf to test the status of the interface and restart it? I see the start(), stop(), restart() and status() methods but I'm not sure (need an example) how they might be used.

ColdFusion Event Gateway - Data Processing Delay

Hi,

We are running ColdFusion 9 inside JBOSS.

We have event gateways that communicate with JMS Queue from JBOSS to acquire the vehicle related data for further processing (about 2 millions data per day in real time).

However, we facing performance degradation for the event gateways after it runs for 8hrs (initially data processing at 0 sec delay, subsequently built up to almost 10 mins delay) and it requires restart to resume back to normal speed.

Further checking on the servers show that the event gateways occupied all CPU processing power after running for few hrs.

May I know what is the issue and what can i do improve the performance. Your help shall be high appreciated.

Below the settings for event gateways.

Queue Size : 10000

Thread : 30

Server Spec

IBM x3650 series

RAM : 6GB

Processor : Dual Quad Core Processors 2.5GHZ

Problem Adding Multiple Events To A Gateway Queue

I'm using the following:

ColdFusion: 8,0,1,195765

Edition: Standard

Operating System: Windows 2003

Java Version: 1.6.0_20

I have a batch process that queues file upload requests by sending messages to a CFML (asynchronous CFC) gateway.

I get the following messages repeatedly in my eventgateway.log:

Problem adding event for gateway Amazon S3 Gateway Service: Queue size of 10 exceeded when attempting to add more assignments into the threadpool task queue.

I have the same batch process and gateway cfc on multiple servers. During the batch process, I will queue up many requests, somewhere between 1000 and 5000. Only one request processes at a time, which exactly how I want it to work.

I was able to succesfully run the process on 10 different servers all of which are using ColdFusion Standard Edition 8,0,0,176276 and did not receive any of the errors in the eventgateway.log. On the four servers where I get these errors, three are ColdFusion 8,0,1,195765 and one is 9,0,0,,251028.

All the ColdFusion parameters appear to be the same on all servers. The Event Gateway settings on all servers are set to the following:

Event Gateway Processing Threads = 1

Maximum number of events to queue = 100,000

Directory watcher gateway stops seeing files added after working fine for awhile

We have a directory watcher gateway that has worked quite well in the past, but over the past couple days has started having problems. What seems to happen is that the gateway cfc stops firing when a file is added to a directory. Stopping and restarting the gateway doesn't fix the problem. However we are running 4 instances on the server, so I removed the gateway from one instance and added it to another. Things started working again. Then the next day, the new gateway stopped working. Moved it back to the original instance, and it's working again.

We also have a scheduled task that cleans up files that the gateway misses, it runs every 3 minutes. The gateway does log some "file does not exist" errors but it seems to only happen when the scheduled task runs - that is, it seems like the gateway doesn't notice the files until another process tries to do something with them!

Incidentally we have been doing a pretty high volume of traffic lately and the server has had some other issues (another process has brought it down multiple times in the past week) - so the server has actually been restarted a few times lately (it's in a cluster of 2). I'm not sure how these things would really affect the gateway's operaion though.

Does anyone know what might be going on here? Thanks in advance!

Sending True Binary SMS With CF Gateway

So I have been working to send actual binary instructions to some remote decvices using the CF gateway. I am setting the command to "data" and the messagePayload to a binary object made up of a hex string. What the stopping point is, is that CF seems to transmit the message to the SMSC as plain text almost no matter what.

I have had some success changing up the DataCoding optional parameter and it has sent the messages to my test SMSC as binary BUT the big issue is that i need to send the message with a specific DCS (datacoding) value to get the remote device to recognize and execute the command.

So, does anyone know what else I have to do to get these messages to go through as binary every time?

Do you know what the range for the DataCoding parameter is? CF SEEMS to want it as a number then it transforms it into the HEX string that the SMSC wants but it seems like any number above 128 gets totally ignored and the message goes through as plain text.

All in all its a very strange issue and it seems like i'm missing some key part of how to make this work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

After I did some readings on Coldfusion SMS Event Gateway.

I'm wondering whether I need an external SMS server or system for the SMS gateway in CF to work. Looking forward to get reply from you all.

I am using CF8 in a windows environment.

I have a magentic stripe reader on the network at IP xxx.xx.xxx.174:1070

When a badge is scanned, I want that information to automatically log in my SQL database. I think a Socket Gateway is what I want, so it will listen to the address in question, and allow me to capture and store the information upon a scan, but I cant find much information on the net as to how to go about this. I have gone through the exanples but apparently I am not smart enough to "get it". Can anyone point me in the right direction?

trouble with socket gateway and an as3 xmlsocket connection

I succesfully set up the socket gateway and am able to conect to the CF socket gateway and send data from flash to the gateway.

The error I keep getting is when I add return value to the "onIncomingMessage"... cf error always logs "Cannot send outgoing message. OriginatorID "123124124" is not a valid socket id.

I am passing the originatorID as in the docs.... my question is what is a valid originatorID?

ColdFusion 8 Data Management Gateway - Multi Instance, Mutli Server

I have a question about setting up the Data Management Gateway with LiveCycle embedded in each ColdFusion instance. The setup is as follows:

The scenario exists as follows:

- I want to be able to have an update from ColdFusion on any 1 of these instances update any Flex application listening for updates from any of the embedded LCDS instances.

The way it works now is if a user that is on 01_CF_Instance_01 does an update to the database, the Data Management Event Gateway configured on this instance hits the embedded LCDS install on that instance. I want it to send the update to all embedded LCDS installs for all 4 instances.

I know that I have to set the host and allowedIPs for the flex-data-management-gateway.cfg that each one of my Event Gatways is configured with, however the updates never come through to any other instance of LCDS.

If I do the following for the Event Gateway .cfg file on instance 01_CF_Instance_01,

host=localhost

allowedIPs=10.0.0.230,10.0.0.240

it hits the embedded LCDS install just fine, but no others will get the update. Since two of the instances will always be on localhost for any given instance, will specifying localhost hit both instances on localhost?

All of my Data Management Destinations have the same name, myDest. Are there going to be conficts with the destination name for instances on the same server?

Can anyone help me sort out these issues?

SMS state from the Operator

Is there any way to get the Command_Status parameter as part of the submit_sm_resp message in the cfevent as the inmediate response from the Operator? I perfectly obtain the Delivery Receipt report sent from the mobile using the RegisteredDelivery , but this is not enough for the Operator . They insist that they send me the SMPP error status inmediately as part of the submit_sm_resp message, but the only thing that I got from them is the MessageId as response of the SendGatewayMessage function.

I need the Command_Status because this is the way the Operator inmediatly informs the state of the mobile with two states: No Error(0x00) and Submit_sm failed (0x45), this last meaning no credit balance available to receive the SMS Text message, the mobile is blokecd, etc.

Any suggestions?

LiveCycle 2.6.1 Data Management with The ColdFusion 8.0 DataManagement Event Gateway Issue

Hello all,

I've recently been developing a project that involves sending out events from ColdFusion to LiveCycle 2.6.1 using the Data Management event gateway to Flex 4.0 clients (LiveCycle and ColdFusion are on different Instances, but the same server). To begin with, I used ColdFusion assemblers, DAO's, and models and everything worked fine locally. After deploying this setup to a beta site, I decided that this setup would be very troublesome in terms of configuring clustered instances across multiple servers. I then decided to convert my assemblers, DAO's, and models to Java. The conversion went well and the flex clients see the exact same data as they did with the ColdFusion adapter.

Once I tried to send an update through from my ColdFusion application to a Flex client, I get an error stating that:

"Unable to find the Flex adapter for destination My_Dest in the RMI registry on localhost:1099.The Flex adapter may not be running or the destination may be incorrect."

After seeing this error, downloaded a Java-based RMI inspector to see what was going on. To get a good idea of what was happening when the ColdFusion adapter was being used, I switched my data-management-config file back to the CF adapter. I noticed that the RMI entry was as follows:

localhost:1099/cfdataserviceadapter/My_Dest

localhost:1099/cfassembler/my_cf_instance

Once I gathered this data as the base, I converted back to the Java adapter in my data-management-config file, restarted the servers, and ran the RMI inspector again. Only the "localhost:1099/cfassembler/my_cf_instance" was showing. (This one shows because I have "Enable Remote Adobe LiveCycle Data Management Access" checked in my CF instance's CF Admin -> Flex Integration). Since I don't need this checked anymore, I unchecked it and re-ran the RMI inspector. As it should, the "localhost:1099/cfdataserviceadapter/My_Dest" went away. Since no destination shows up, it means that the Flex adapter isn't registering my "my_Dest" destination with RMI. Since it isn't registered, I can't see it when I try to send a message through the CF Data Management event gateway.

Can anyone help me out here? I certainly may be missing something when it comes to RMI (I don't work with Java very often). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

New to the Event Gateways portion of Cold Fusion, and am looking for someone who can point me in the right direction. I'm using CF 8, and want to build a primitive "Instant Messaging" system for users of my website. First, is this possible? Second, can anyone point me to reading material on how to "instant message" from one machine to another using CF?

Powerful SMS Server?

Hello, I am wondering is Coldfusion 9 is a good product for developing an election tracking system, where results from over 22000 polling stations are send in via SMS.

Since I have not found any information on who much information the SMS gateway can process per minute/ per second, I a not able to decide whether is would be able to handle the job.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to retrieve the list of users in an application that makes use of DataServicesMessaging. But the getGatewayHelper method always return null. I have no idea how to register users and I'm starting to think even the possibility of creating a table to store this information, but know that it would be ideal.

Event Gateway for Weblogic JMS

Hi there, just learning about event gateways in Coldfusion. After a day playing and reading, I'm still unable to figure out if it is possible, using the default JMS and ActiveMQ event gateway type, to listen to a Oracle Weblogic JMS queue.

When trying to configure a JMS gateway instance to listen to Weblogic JMS queue, I get a "Gateway 'testJMS (examples.JMS.JMSGateway)' has taken more than 30 seconds to start." error. When I use the ActiveMQ gateway type, I get an "Could not create Transport. Reason: java.io.IOException: Transport scheme NOT recognized: [t3]".

I'm no expert on CF event gateway or Weblogic JMS messaging so would appreciate it if someone could tell me if this is even possible using the default supplied gateway types with CF8 or if a custom gateway type has to be built.

I have been sending SMS using coldfusion sms gateway. If am sending below 254 characters, it works perfectly but when I need to send above 254 characters, I use the messagePayload attribute and convert the message to binary. The message sends OK but only the first 25 characters are displayed
on the phone. I have gone through the coldfusion documentation but what I don't understand is "The messagePayload field can contain up to 64K bytes;
it must start with 0x0424, followed by 2 bytes specifying the payload length, followed by the message contents."

Adobe didn't state any specific example on how this would be implemented. Kindly send an example on how this would be implemented.

If anyone knows any other method of sending long messages, please share it cos my .Net friends are laughing at me, telling me coldfusion is wack

CF8 DirectoryWatcher Gateway Doesn't Run When I Overwrite a File

I've set up a Coldfusion Directory Event Gateway on my site (Win2K3 server, CF8 Ent). The DW monitors an FTP directory where my users upload a batch of 5 PDF files each week. The files are named file1.pdf, file2.pdf and so on. When my DW gateway sees an addition or a file change, it copies the file to a new location, reads the PDF's meta data and uses that to rename the file and then add an entry to a database table for that file (the table entry gets used to populate a PDF archive list on a different page). In general this all works with a few exceptions.

ISSUE 1: If I add a new file, the gateway sees it and calls my onAdd function (which actually just calls my onChange function). If I rename a file in that directory, the onChange event fires and my code runs. However, if I upload a new file1.pdf file which overwrites the old file1.pdf, nothing happens. The new file is truly different and has a new modification date. I read through the Java class and mod date is how the gateway determines a change. Now, so far am not actually FTPing a new file in, but rather just coping it in from my local machine to the server directory via a mapping.

I saw a solution for a similar issue which talked about setting up the onDelete event b/c the FTP will actually delete then add the file. Does this sound like a solution?

ISSUE 2: I had a lot of CFM files that needed to be put into the archive, so I converted those to PDFs. I then put all of them in my watch directory so my script would process them. To my surprise, the script would only load 11 files at a time. So after some tests to confirm the issue and the correct number of files, I then loaded my batch, 11 files at a time. Any ideas why this would happen?

My Specs again:

Windows 2003 Server
Coldfusion 8 Enterprise
In my config file:
- checking my directory every minute (60000 milliseconds)
- only checking for .pdf extension
- Set an onAdd and onChange function call, but no onDelete
- my onAdd function simply calls my onChange function, passing
- in the CFEvent argument that it received

I am writing a directory watcher gateway for an automated process that dumps files into a directory that is a Windows share for our network. I am having some trouble with partial files being pulled in, which we have mainly solved already. My main question is just a check to make sure we are solving this safely.

Does acquiring a directory listing with cfdirectory cause file locking to occur in the directory being listed?

SMS Gateway DATA command

I am trying to send a binary file (currently a small image) through our SMPP bind to a mobile phone through the CF SMS event gateway and I'm apparently missing something.

When i setup the structure and pass it off to the sendGatewayMessage function i get an error in my logs that says:

MSGateway (SMPPGateway) error while processing 'data' command: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.smpp.pdu.GenericNack cannot be cast to org.smpp.pdu.DataSMResp

The code I'm using is:

Unable to access the Flex Message Broker

Hi everyone,

Basically, I am trying to do a simple connection of message between a form (with only a text message) to send a message to Flex. The Flex is suppose to display the message. All this use a Event Gateway I created in ColdFusion. I also manipulated XML config files based on the Ben Forta example (http://www.forta.com/blog/index.cfm/2006/2/1/Getting-Started-With-ColdFusion-And-Flex-Ente rprise-Services) but ColdFusion 8 (as it is the version I am using) is not set the same way as CF7 (I am not sure but for me, it is not seems to be the same for config files). I manipulated the messagin-config.xml includes in my path "C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\flex" to include the host (127.0.0.1) and a channel for RTMP.

But everything I am doing always returning me the error "Unable to access the Flex Message Broker". First, I am not sure at which step I am in the full process - but I think I can say that I reach the Event Gateway when I am getting this error - is it?

If somebody can explain me a bit better what this message is about exactly, it should help me a lot (and maybe a lot of other user trying to make this work).

I includes a file here that contains the following information:

1) The code I use from the Coldfusion to create the message to pass to;

2) The code I use to read the message in the Flex;

3) The CFC I use to transfer the message through the Event Gateway I created;

3) The messaging-config.xml;

4) The data-management-config.xml.

The Event Gateway I created is called testFlexGateway and it ibased on Data Management and pointing to the CFC I include in my file.

Any help will be great as we have a big project that is dependant of this success!!!

Hi i have setup the sms utility and its working well sending sms, i now need to get the status of the sms back into my system,

i am just using the main.cfc but i am not sure what to do here?

all i want to do is have a sql stored proc update my database by passing in the Status and the id number from the sent sms.

I am attempting to intercept an HTTP post containing message data and then sending it through my SMS gateway over SMPP.

but it seems that no matter what i do with the struct i give the sendGatewayMessage method it doesn't include the optional parameters. I can't even get it to set the values for things that came back in the CFEvent struct like dataCoding and esmClass. I used some example data from the cf livedocs to try and set those values to but it seems like nothing i change has any effect.

Am I missing something here with this? any help would be appreciated.

I have an SMS gateway setup and bound to the SMSC using SMPP. When an SMS comes in from the SMSC (mobile originating) the SMSC has some data in the deliver_sm that coldfusion isn't giving to me in the CFEvent structure.

The data that i'm looking for is a unique identifier attached to each message that comes in. I use these to compare reports from the SMSC to reports generated by my code. It's vital that I am able to relate the messages on both reports.

Is there any way to get CF to put that into the cfevent structure so my CFC can access it?

If not, does anyone have a suggestion as to how I should proceed to get something that makes that data available?

How to not run a gateway instance if the target server is down

I have a DirectoryWatcher gateway instance that runs every 10 min looking to do a series of actions when a file is added to a directory on another server. This other server is down periodically and my gateway instance fails. Then when the server comes back up, I have to restart the gateway because it has failed. How do I tell the gateway instance to not run if the server it is looking at is down or the directory in this case is unavailable?

SMS Gateway losing Connection

Hi

I have a coldfusion 8 server connecting to an SMS Provider and the binding works great, sending messages works most of the time but the bind to the server drops randomly and regularly.

It seems like i can push messages through then it will hang and drop the bind then re-establish the bind and work again.

I have done a bunch of google searches for a similar problem with no success. Has anyone seen this same issue and if so how did you overcome it? Any input/suggestions/whatever would be greatly appreciated.

i can read and write to data queues using coldfusion and jtopen / jt400
but i want to automate the process of getting the new messages from these dataqueues ....

Event Gateways in Multiserver Environment

Hi all

As a company we are looking to deploy a Flex application using 'push' messaging.

The backend is a multiserver Coldfusion 8 setup behind a load balancer. My concern is around the multiserver setup while using event gateways. If a client consumes from a particular gateway on a particular server, and a CF process on another server produces for a gateway on it's server how will the data push occur thus updating all clients consuming from the gateways on all servers.

I'm afraid we will have to get the CF process on one server produce for it's own gateway and we'll have to get all clients to consume from that gateway - thus not allowing us to spead the load across all CF servers using thier own gateways in the multi-server environment.

Am I missing something here? This area appears to be fairly new, so any and all comments appreciated.

Flex 3 and CF - can't hit flex2gateway

I’m trying to setup Flex 3 to work with CF using Flash Remoting and I’m stuck getting the flex2gateway to work. I have CF 8 installed as a standalone server integrated with IIS. I'm getting a 500 error when I view http://localhost/flex2gateway in a browser. Here’s the error and various things I’ve tried. I’ve been all over the web and found a number of suggested resolutions but none of them work. Sites I’ve looked at include:

Here's the error when I try to hit the gateway from my mxml page:

I’m still totally stuck here (it’s been a solid 10+ hours). I’ve visited at least 20 sites that all have solutions that worked for them including:

- Running C:\ColdFusion8\bin\connectors\Remove_ALL_connectors.bat followed by C:\ColdFusion8\bin\connectors\IIS_connector.bat

- Editing services-config.xml and changing the value of the uri argument in the endpoint node for the channel-definition of ‘cf-polling-amf’. I’ve tried all sorts of things like removing {context.root} from the path, hard coding the path, etc. I've also set the port to 80. What’s strange to me is that no matter what I change the value too, even something fake like “FOOBAR”, the error always shows the same failed url (and I restart CF in between too)

- Ensuring the "/" is at the end of my path (i.e. http://localhost/flex2gateway/")

Any help would be so greatly apprieciated.

I did this when i was running coldfusion on windows but now i am trying to do it with open suse .

here is the .cfg file and its in gateway/config directory .
