Displaying and choosing records in form

I have my livecycle form, and my access database.

I can get the livecycle form to display records, and have buttons to navigate through them. How do I 'pick' a record to display permanently so I can then send the form. Currently, when I send the form to myself, the very first record is the only one that displays unless I change the record again. When I send the form, I want the record that I choose to display and NOT have the option to change.

Any ideas?

adobe reader XI crashes with XFA

Expanding and collapsing document content with a toggle button

I am looking into getting LiveCycle but before I do I was wanting to know how difficult of a process it is to create portions of a document that expand and collapse (not just a particular field). I have a microsoft word document that I have inserted headers into. They have a toggle button next to the section header which when switched will expand and collapse that entire section (moving the content of the document below it up and down as the section is collapsed and expanded). This is what I am trying to accomplish in my form. I am just curious if this is a relatively simple process in LiveCycle or if this is something that takes a lot of programming knowledge and experience. Also, is it possible to import information from a word doc, or a PDF into LiveCycle to have something to start with or do you have to create it from scratch in LiveCycle?

I have inserted two new pages into my form. The other pages where I have the date/time field work fine but when I go to add another date/time field, the automatic fly out window that allows you to chose the date does not appear. Can someone help me please? I am really new to LiveCycle, forms etc., so please when you respond talk to me like it is my first day with the program;) thank you so much.

User Created Dynamic Table

I have a form and for example there are 4 goal tables on this form. Each table has questions that the user, using the fillable form, answers. Is there a way to creat this livecycle form with 3 goals on it and a way for the user to ADD a 4th goal if they need it? I know how to make the form flowable and dynamic, but how would i allow the user of the form, in Adobe Reader to click on a button to add a new TABLE (not just a new row). Is this possible?

Empty fields set to display non-breaking space if undefined...

All my empty fields are set to display non-breaking space if undefined (to prevent word "Empty" from appearing in empty fields when the form is printed out). I've used a custom validation script for phone number field, but I can't figure out how remove the non-breaking space (String.fromCharCode(160) that appears before the phone number if the field have been clicked on directly rather than through tab. Any suggestions?

Here is the validation script I have on an Exit event:

Problem with Submit via Email Button

When I open the PDF on my desktop and click the submit button it gives me the option of internet or desktop email program. Both of those work fine. But when I load the pdf onto my website, open the form from there and try to submit it neither option works.

1. When I click the Desktop Email Application - nothing at all happens. (we use groupwise)

2. When I click the internet email button it asks me to name the file but then when i try to save it i get this error: Acrobat Could not open the file XXXXXXXXX Detailed Error: A file error has occured.

PS - Also it does not work in chrome or firefox which is annoying you have to use IE. If you have thoughts about how to fix that I would appreciate it! I tried lowering the adobe version from 9 to 8 which did nothing and when i lowered it to 7 it displayed but nothing worked in the form.

Dynamic Form and XML

Hello,

sorry for my bad english. I am a german user and a newbie with Livecycle Designer. I hope i will get help here.

I have created a Dynamic Form, with one table in it which can be duplicated.

When it comes to XML Export, all Tags in the duplicated Table have the same name. I want to import the values to Excel, but i can´t get the Values from the duplicated tables seperately. Excel summarizes it in some way, and only allows me to import them alle together in a little table... That is not what i want. I want to have them all at different places.

So is it somehow possible to change the XML Structure or to give a new name to the second table (which i have duplicated in the PDF) with Javascript Event or anything? So that i have a unique path / tag in the final XML for each value?

I hope i could explain myself understandable.

Error message "failed to load an application resource (internal error)" when checking form in LiveCycle preview PDF

After creating a form, when I click on Preview PDF, I am now getting an error message "Failed to load an application resource (internal error)". Not sure why this has started recently, but it makes it impossible to check my forms for clients before I send them. I can open them outside of the program in Adobe Reader, but it is faster to check the form within LiveCycle and change them if necessary. Please help!

LiveCycle - Collapsable and Expandable Form Sections

Hello everyone,

I am new to LiveCycle and I am trying to create a form that has sections which will expand or collapse if you click on them. I do not mean text fields that expand to fit the required information. I'm sure you've all encountered these online where if you click on the heading of something, more information about it will expand below pushing the rest of the page down.

So I am wondering if something similar to this can be accomplished for a form in LiveCycle. So that the people who fill out my form can just click on the sections that apply to them and only fill out the related surveys (without having to scroll through unnecessary information).

Hope someone knows how to do this.

unable to save designer pdf after editing.

After editing a form I can't save the form to the same file name. I receive the following message:

Needless to say, the form is not shared or open anywhere else.

I've set permissions on the file, folder and designer, I've set compatibility on the urls, but nothing makes a difference. Imagine saving every few minutes and having to give a different file name every time. I have to keep on deleting previous versions.

Any ideas? I'm quite desperate....

Install Mobile Forms IVS

When I log into the CRX system, there is no option to download the mobile IVS package. Im assuming this is what I need in order to get forms to render correctly to HTML. Ive installed EVERYTHING from the LCM, but again; there is no IVS package. Anyone know what to do?

I can set my pattern to num{zzzzzzzzzz} but not sure how to allow multiple lines

ES4 RenderPdfForm not Importing Data

We have a custom Workbench ES2 application that has been installed on our new ES4 instance. The application receives xml data that conforms to a form's schema. In the application the "RenderPdfForm" widget uses the xml data as input to populate the form. This works as expected in our ES2 instance. However, the same application running in our ES4 instance does not import the data and a blank form is returned. Is there anything special about the ES4 "RenderPdfForm" widget that we need to know? - Thank you.

Trouble Installing ES4 SP1

When I try install the SP1, i get an error message saying that the install directory does not contain LiveCycle ES4 server. I do only have the trial version of ES4, so maybe this is what is causing the issue. Anyone have a suggestion for installing SP1?

The only reasion I am even installing SP1 is because im hoping that it will allow the Preview HTML tab to work. Currently, it tells me I need to change my server url. It is currently set to what is in all the help documentation which is http://localhost, but it just wont work. Anyone have a clue?

Erratic behaviour with email submit

We generated interactive *pdf forms using LiveCycle 8.2 in 2010. They have worked flawlessly for the past four years, up until this last week. Last week, we re-created new forms (based on an older form) to be project specific, these forms are providing us with erratic grief; particularly with the email submit. We just can't figure out why all the older forms work fine, but these new ones created are problematic. Most often, even though can see the email in my "SENT" box with an attachment, the receipients do not see the attachement; rather the MIME scripting of the file.

I am wondering if the practice of re-creating a new form from a previous form (just editing the scripting) is not a good practice and could be the underlying problem. Should master forms be saved as templates? and do templates perform differently or hold settings differently than just modifying and save-as (with a new file name from an old).

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Flowing text onto a second page: problem with new paragraph tag <\p>

Hi all,

in the attachment “layout_with_issue” you can check a correct split among different pages for the first row/section “Commercial Description” of the table view (page from 1 to 4).

On the other hand, row/section “Other Mandatory Information” (page 6 and 7) is not split correctly: some blank space is presented at page 6, and some of the relevant text is displayed in page 7 (here you can also notice that table is in front of the page footer and not all the text is displayed).

I have notice that this behavior is presented when a new paragraph starts within the textfield (that means it is used a <\p> tag within the textfield).

Just some quick information: I have defined table row as subform. Page break is allowed.

I have tried several tricks but the issue still remains.

Any help would be appreciated!

Radio Button if ( ) then selection

Greetings:

There are two people. Let's call them "husband" and "wife."

Husband and wife could be petitioner or respondent.

I'm trying to create a calculation to determine whether husband or wife is petitioner or respondent.

It's easy enough to use a conditional (for the petitioner value)

if (DropDownList = "husband") then

$=HusbandFullName

else

$=WifeFullName

endif

But, I think it is easier for the user to have two radio buttons so they show the options, one labelled "Husband" and the other "Wife."

I have created (formcalc, client, calculate) with a husband radio button and a wife radio button in the same sub form set.

if (PetitionerRB.HusbandRB == "1") then

$= HusbandFullName

else

$=WifeFullName

endif

and this sets the husband or the wife to petitioner.

However, I am having trouble setting the respondent. When I create this for the wife radio button, I do not get a value.

To set wife as the petitioner:

if (PetitionerRB.WifeRB == "1") then

$= WifeFullName

else

$=HusbandFullName

endif

In fact, changing "1" to "2" also does not work.

I'm obviously missing something about radio buttons in a sub form. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are three columns in this table: one labled "input", one labled "revise" and the final labeld "accept."

On each row, there is user input, and a "revise" radio button and an "accept" radio button together in one subform.

If user clicks on "revise", I would like to take user back to that section of the form.

To get the "revise" radio button to move up a page is pretty straightforward- in Formcalc, it's xfa.host.pageUp().

But, how do I get the revise radio button when selected to move user to a specific part of the form?

My plan is to move user forward to the next page once all of the "accept" radio buttons are checked.

Digital signatures not working for LiveCycle forms in Acrobat Reader

Hello, when I create a Form in LiveCycle Designer with signature fields, I open the form in Acrobat XI and save the form with extended features (File-->Save As Other-->Extended Features-->Enable Tools), but then when I open the "extended features" form in Acrobat Reader, the signature fields do not work (click the field, but no signature prompt appears). I do not have this problem when extended features are enabled in Acrobat X. Why do they not work when they are enabled in Acrobat XI?

I've got a RTF-textfield with the font and fontsize set to Arial and 8pt.

But when a user copy and paste text from an other application with other fonts and fontsizes, this wil be pasted too.

Is there a way to manipulate the font and fontsize for this field when the user exits the field?

I am creating a roster that has multiple positions on multiple pages. I have a drop-down list that is populated with all of the employees and want to make sure that the same employee cannot be selected for multiple posts. Ideally, when one is selected in a position, that person would not be an option in the other drop-down lists. Also, when the form is published, the end user will not use the drop-down lists in order. I have found script to remove selected items, but it only works when the user makes selections in order (List1, List2, List3 etc).

Need help with changing values in a form. Need to add a half to the number already in use ie, 4.5, 3.5 etc. Have added values to binding, tried using data patterns, but the totals table will not recognize the .5 number nor calculate it in the total. Here is the totals script

Import data from Excel into PDF Forms created in LiveCycle

Hi there

I have a PDF form that I have created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

I would like to now import data from Microsoft Excel so that it generates multiple PDF files.

For example, my PDF Form has 3 fields, First Name, Last Name and UserID. But we have 1000 users and we have them all stored in an excel file with the same fields as above. How can import all that data so that it generates 1000 PDF files, each with the unique pieces of data (line by line)

I'm editing a PDF form in Adobe Livecycle. I'm using actions to auto-fill a text field based on the value of drop down list text field. The actions are being overwritten by another auto-fill function. I have not been able to determine the source of the auto-fill so I can either edit it or turn it off. What other options besides actions are there for auto-filling text fields?

password protected pages in a form

I had a single password protected page in my original form, I added a second page that also needed to be password protected.

When I select the password window it brings it up, lets you type in the password but will not open the hidden pages?

here is the formula:

Hi all,

I would like to know if there is a way to solve the following problem.

I have a few forms created using Adobe LiveCycle and I would like to add a print button that not only it prints the document opened but also others that are relevant to the form being used.

For example if the person opens form1 which is related to a topic, I would like this button to print other documentation which is relevant to their form.

At the moment I know how to add a print button and it works fine but obviously it only prints the current document.

I hope this makes sense.

Loop with == works but !== does not

I have a process in es4 that loads data from a data base in to a form.

The number of rows in not know.

It loads in to a table fine.

The use is to select one of the items to work on.

This works if they delete 1 at a time.

It would be faster to delete what they did not select.

When I change the line to LicenseFeeDetailsId.rawValue !==fSelected all but the first is deleted no mater which is selected?

How can I delete everyone that in not selected?

hello,

I have a data drop down list connected through a local ODBC connection to an Access database.

How do I get other fields to populate when a user makes a selection from the data drop down?

The user makes a selection then other data from other columns from the same row in the Access table then need to populate in various pdf fields.

if i bind other cells then they default to the option in the first row of the database.

the only thing i can get to work so far is the first data drop down list. in the object under list items I then have it bound to the access column of interest.

the next problem is to have row data from the selection to populate elsewhere.

Expandable fileds in imported forms

My question is about expandable fields. I tried out expandable fields in a new form I created and it worked. I then moved on to do that in a Word document that I imported to LC (dynamic). I added the fields and did everything by the book. However, I still get this message: Although the object is allowed to break deselecting the Allow Page Breaks within the Content option of the parent object restricts this object from breaking between pages. The expandable field "work" -- it expands, but then it overlaps the other fields. I need help in figuring out why that's happening. Thanks!

Is there a way to enable LiveCycle forms to be viewable in Firefox or Chrome without shutting off their built-in PDF readers?

I read an article that states that in order to view XFA forms in Firefox and Chrome you have to turn off their built-in PDF rendering engine. However, that seems like a lot of work to ask my end-users. Is there a way to enable the form to be opened in Firefox and Chrome without having to turn off their built-in PDF rendering engine? Is there a setting somewhere?

I have this script on a acroform and it works great, but when try in live cycle it does not do anything, Can someone think of the reason? Essentially the value in drop down is populated in text filed but want t make a 1d barcode so using barcode font!

i have a form i have purchased adobe livecycle and changed the form fill in that i need ed to but i now need to change the text of the document and am unable to do so the text tool is grayed out

I want to create a dynamically-generated form that would reside on an intranet and when I go to pull up that form, it will come from a server but will not pull data from a backend database. How can I achieve this?

Bound drop-down list export results as text from list rather than item value

LiveCycle Designer: I have a table with 4 drop-down lists which are bound (I've manually added the drop down text in the list items box & selected the specific items values in Binding). The first drop-down list choice is a code that on selection populates the other three drop boxes with related information. I have an add row button under this. When the data is submitted the results for these lists are the list item values, but I need the list item text in the exported data. So, what I'd like is to know is this:

How do I write the script I need to change the bound item value in the result to text and where should put it on a change or exit event?

I've been searching for a day to find the answer with no luck. Thanks in advance.

new instance problem

hello,

I have a ES4 form that I am working. I have added a row above a hidden table. This row has a button to open "show" a hidden table.

When clicked the table expands. the table has many cells. One cell has buttons to add new instance or hide the table itself. The add new instance upon click is not functioning. This is what breaks.

The hide table works fine.

If I try the same thing but with a table that is not originally hidden then it works fine. New instances occur. I need to reduce clutter on my form so it would benefit me to have it initially be hidden but then the add new instance has to work.

I use the action builder to add the javascript.

any advice?

Repeating subform controlling actions in original subform

Hi,

Thank you S.Candy and Magnus069 for helping me get my form this far.

I am having one final (I hope) issue.

I have repeating subforms in my form. The subforms have radio buttons that control the presence of of comments boxes. If the user clicks "no" then a comments box appears, if they click "yes" it disappears.

The issue I am having is when the user adds an instance of the subform (using the add button) then the send set of radio buttons controls the comments box in the first instance.

Maybe a picture will help?

Can page numbers be added to a dynamic form, that allows for expandable fields in a flow-able format? If yes, how do I accomplish that?
