Blog Comments have been disabled but spam comments are still being made?

With the increased number of spam comments on my blogs i was forced to disable the comments but every day i still have a comments list full of spam links to spam websites and comments from SEO companied looking for business.

I have captcha installed also but this has not stopped it.

Form Module embedded does not update when web-form is updated

I have issues where I create a form with the web-form tool, go to a page and embed the form as a module, everything works as described. Then, after several days, I need to add/change/delete a field. I go to the web-form tool, make my changes and update. The embedded module doesn't reflect the changes to the form. So far the only way I can get this to work is to copy the form, make changes on the new form, and then delete the previous embed module code and embed the new (copied) form. This isn't the way that BC says the embed form module is suppose to work. What is the issue?

Adobe connect seems to make our program crash periodically when we are sharing it

Hi,

We have a program that we demo with clients over adobe connect. It is written in python and Qt and uses OpenGL.

About 10 or 15 minutes into the demo the program will hard crash. This only happens about 30 - 40% of the time.

We have spent several days trying to track down the issue but we can only every reproduce the crash when adobe connect is connected and sharing the screen.

Does adobe somehow jack into the program in a way that could cause issues? We're really just at a loss as to what's going on.

lmages will only appear after publishing or updating the post and sometimes only after doing that and refreshing the who page. I have clients placing the image 4 or 5 times trying to get to work, when it actually is, but just not showing. This is something that is occurring with only a few sites not all editors.

When you double click on a motion tween in flash cc a handy ease editor opens below the layer in the timeline. There's no way to exit out of it. It makes it impossible to continue working on a project. Am I missing something?

Hi,

I've noticed a few of my sites are having an issue where both the /index.html and the / URL's are being seen by Google as 2 versions of my homepage even though they are just the one version.

What I am hoping to do is create a 301 redirect so that e.g. www.abc.com/index.html forwards to www.abc.co.uk however this does not seem possible in BC using the standard URL redirect functionality.

Has anyone experienced this issue? How did you get around it?

Secondly I was wondering if anyone knows if using BC if it is possible to get access to the HT Access file to do this?

Web app Templates by BC

Although not a bug - I do feel this is an issue.

Currently when using templates, many of the BC templates use web apps for aesthetic reasons, however I just got caught, where the client does not want an eCommerce site, so therefore the web apps are not available. Therefore hours of work, now have to be redone.

There is no warning on the BC templates either.

So my question is - when do web apps used for styling become part of a partners arsenal, instead of providing a client with business functionality??

Can they be separated, or tagged as not relating to business functionality, and therefore can the partner have access to the web app anyway. Of course the client should not get access.

Getting a Form-to-Email When Updating Page Template

We created a page template called Contest - landing today and whenever we make an update to it via the BC backend, we get a workflow email with no content.

Emails from Constant Contact (or other Email marketing systems) not reaching BC Email Accounts

I have a few accounts that use Constant Contact to send out emails. Starting around August 5th, all accounts that receive email through the BC system have had these emails blocked coming form the Constant Contact serrvers. So email coming from Constant Contact is not reaching email accounts that are setup as hosting accounts through BC. For 4 years this all worked fine, but now all of a sudden it has stopped. BC or OpenSRS have not been able to resolve this issue It is very apparent that OpenSRS is blocking Constant Contact emails for no apparent reason. This also seems to coincide with the Blog posting from BC in early August regarding the DNS server attack

Is there anyone else that uses Constant Contact (or possibly other email marketing services) experiencing the same issue? If you fall into this category you may want to check into this.

I have a customer who just contacted me to say she has someone trying to purchase from their Business Catalyst powered E-Commerce site but cannot complete purchase because of an error when she arrives at the shipping options. She does not know what the error code was or what exactly it said so that is actually all of the information I have! I can find no record of the purchase in the dashboard (I assume because of the error the sale is not completed) and can't find anyone else who has had an error at this point.

Has anyone had experience with errors during purchases and can point me towards a list of known issues that I can use as a guide here? I'm definitely at a loss with this small amount of info so any help would be appreciated!

Is it too much to ask, after 20 years and tens of thousands of dollars, to be able to get help from SOMEONE? What I am experiencing is probably a back-end collision between Business Catalyst and another system after changing my Adobe ID. I love the Support Chat window: "Log in to chat" LOL! As IF I can log in without generating an error.

As a subscriber, how do I contact support if I can't log in to chat or reach you, without your server throwing me a system error?

Hi,

We are a BC partner and host all of our client sites on the BC platform. We provide a number of additional services to our clients as well as web development, one of which is SEO.

We are based in the UK and all of our sites are hosted in the EU data centres in Dublin. The problem with this is that this makes it more difficult to rank our sites in the UK than if our BC sites were hosted in London for instance. I know this may seem like a very small point when it comes to SEO but we are noticing it is having a bigger impact than it used to as Google continues to increase focus on on-page elements of websites to determine ranking.

I've raised this is an issue with BC but I just want to know from the BC community if it is something you are aware of and worried about also? If it is then the more people we can get talking about it then hopefully it will bring it more to the attention of the BC team.

I'm an avid BC fan so very keen to keep on using it - I just hope this can be resolved in the medium term.

Thoughts and opinions on this would be great.

[BUG-Add to Cart] Causing javascripts to break when clicked

I tried to use a jquery plugin for the shop but it kept breaking once "Add to Cart" was clicked. I tried deleting all JS & CSS code and just go with a plain html page but same error kept popping up.

On Firefox i dont get any error message, but the same issue occurs.

Any ideas?

Why is the Business Catalyst Form so hard to format?

Muse is great for formatting forms - love it. Business Catalyst is a dog.

Is there anyway of importing Muse formatting to Business Catalyst and adding the functionality of the CRM?

Business Catalyst needs to fix the interface for Form editing so it is more like Muse.

As a Muse user - the promise is never to touch coding again - uploading to Business Catalyst Webmarketing has been a nightmare.

I have had to go into the background code frequently. I do not want to use Dreamweaver - the whole point was to use Muse with no coding.

This is something that should be high on the list of fixes for BC.

BC Muse integration with imported styles available to use in BC - or fully integrated so that BC forms can be worked on in Muse without having to work with doing.

Customer name with details not outputting in custom report

Hi,

In the CRM for both orders and event bookings, I've found that you can type in some notes into the "details" field for each customer contact. I needed to create a report so I went to the custom reports section of BC and chose "New Customer Report", then I chose "Customer and Orders" for the report type. Then under "Fields" I chose "Customer Name with details", but the results didn't show any of the details, ie. any of the text that I typed into the details field within the CRM, it only shows the customer name. I can only assume that "Customer Name with Details" means the details typed into those 2 fields within orders and event bookings because there's nowhere-else where you can type in something into a field called "Details".

Can anyone tell me why it's not outputting the contents of that field within the report and/or is this a bug within BC?

white text not showing in InContext editor, its appears invisible as it camouflages on white bg

Hi All,

My client is busy editing their site but we have run into an issue when using the InContext editor. The editable regions have been set up but if they contain white text, the text is invisible as it camouflages on the white background of the editor.

It's an easy fix. I have taught my client how to edit the pages directly and they suggested that they can temporarily highlight text and change it's colour for editing purposes and then change it back to white when finished but it would be really great if this was fixed. If it's a coding issue on my end please let me know and I will fix immediately.

Here's an example where the InContext editor fails: Home | Crossroads Care if you scroll down to the middle of the page you will see a div with a blue background titled "Are you a Carer?" here the text is white. Normally ICE will strip the formatting making it easy to edit but in the example it strips formatting but the text remains white.

I look forward to any advice.

Logo replaced with "No items found" after testing a form submission

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that Business Catalyst is written by the programmers, for the programmers, to be primarily used by the BC programmers to set up the initial web sites for end users and once everything is customized, the end user /site owner can then update product pages and other content, without knowing any code. IMHO, it was not written for Web designers who know how to build static web sites, but who also need added functionality.

Moreover, I thought the propose of BC was to build a professional looking and properly performing interactive web sites without knowing any coding. Even with knowing HTML, CSS, and some Javascript, it is one confusing mess, that does not perform as advertised, IN MY OPINION. You not only have to thoroughly understand how BC does things, and I seriously doubt that a custom site could be effectively built without knowing programming, or at least a working knowledge of Javascript, which most web designers have not mastered. Javascript is NOT easy, but neither is Business Catalyst.

Even the sample starter sites do not function smoothly, and the BC Manage site interface is NOT intuitive, so unless you want a web site that basically looks and functions just like one of the templates, you're out of luck. Maybe someone on this forum can explain how, and why, my header logo got 'replaced' with the words, "No items found"? All I did was attempt to set up a module form and then tested it. Next I was unable to log into the site with any accounts that I had set up as a User and/or member for testing purposes, which worked just fine before then.

I have just spent the better part of the last two-three week trying to figure out how to use Business Catalyst and slightly modify one of the provided BC sites to meet my needs. No such luck. I am a long time Adobe customer and have spent thousands of dollars on Adobe Software over the last ten plus years, but BC is a LOOSER. I'm NOT a stupid person, and have designed some nice responsive HTML5 web sites, but Business Catalyst has thrown me for a loop, even though I have tried diligently to figure out how all the pieces fit and work together, to little avail.

Why doesn't Adobe provide some programming help (for a reasonable programming fee) instead of forcing us to go with the independent BC programmers/site designers who do know how to make it work, but they charge the big bucks to do so? I had one BC site designer tell me that web sites cost $10,000 - $15,000. (and that was for a BC site) which I thought was quite unreasonable until you consider how few people truly know how to use BC well enough to customize a web site, and then you have to need a site very similar to the one already created. There in an inherent lack of simple functionality, and customization, for sites that are not retail product sites.

Frankly, I am very disappointed, frustrated, and now looking for a programmer to build a straightforward interactive site for my modest needs. Who cares about all those reports if you can't get the site to function properly, and are unable to troubleshoot the problems when everything is hidden in content holders with no access, and no list of all the modules that are even being used on the site I was last trying to modify. The Announcement module was not to be found anywhere, except in the code that somehow managed to switch out the site logo in the header with search results. Doubt if I could duplicate the problem if I tried.

BC is too complex on the backend, and doesn't make much common sense on the front management end. It tries to be all things to all retail selling sites, but all those functions, bells & whistles aren't much good if a user can't get the site off the ground.

At the very least, give us access to the all the modules uses on the sample sites (not al are available within the site management), the module names, and a brief description of what they do and how to access them when they are nowhere found in the module templates directory. And would someone PLEASE write some decent directions for using the management interface, instead of glibly showing how easy it is to do this or that, without any coding, but also without any real walk-throughs of exactly how to do something specific.

My apology to EVERYONE on this forum for my venting and rant out of sheer frustration ( and deadlines that are not being met) and I do NOT fault the forum moderator for NOT POSTING my thoughts, but I do hope this message, written in utter frustration, is FORWARDED to someone at Adobe who needs to know the truth of the matter regarding Business Catalyst, from at least my own VERY BAD USER EXPERIENCE, thus far, spent trying to get results creating a simple interactive web site using Business Catalyst.

I'm guessing some of you are frustrated and struggling as well. I wish you the best and every success in using Business Catalyst. Typically I am patient, and will keep on trying... but only to a point, at which it's time for me to move on to plan C, because the real 'help' I need is with all the little stuff that doesn't work and tutorials are definitely lacking unless you have that same problem or are trying to duplicate what is being explained - I've tried BG Gurus videos, Lynda.com training, and other Youtube BC resources.

Contact form not including 'name' or 'message'

The default short _Footer-Contact form is not confirming the message enter into the text area box, and not send the message either.

See gswichita.businesscatalyst.com - send me a message from the contact form in footer and when you get confirmation, the message you sent will probably be missing.

I changed the original default form to *Required field for the text area, and here is the HTML for that problem form area, but doubt that's were the problem is for the submit.

Flash causing computer to freeze every couple of minutes?

Hi, I hope someone can help me figure out why all of a sudden my computer is freezing up like this.

The problem started yesterday night while watching some YOUTUBE videos and I got frustrated so I went off to bed. Today I tried it and sure enough, the videos freeze. Went through a couple of forums that suggested the following:

Uncheck accelerate hardware on youtube settings. Did this and nothing changed. Re-checked it, same.

Uninstalled Flash and re-installed Flash. Same problem.

Looked at my event viewer, and an error came up from Adobe Air, so I went to update that since it was outdated. This seemed to exacerbate the problem.

I went to check if all of my drivers are up to date, they are.

I tried what this forum suggested - starting Firefox in safe mode, that didn't help, I even tried creating a new user on Windows and it still freezes, but for a shorter period of time. On the YouTube main page on top it tells me my Flash Version is outdated, but it IS up to date, I downloaded it twice in fact.....? Strange...

I have been switching between Firefox and Internet Explorer to see if it was a browser issue, and it is not.

I confirm outlook is configured as default mail program

I went into BC’s customer list to check out the existing records, see if I could do a simple import, and I found that the customer base has grown from about 200 to nearly 5,000 records. The new names have what appear to be machine-generated email addresses, such as cf8h1t1@ch97voc1.com.

There are also values in the Username (such as Olduj34n) and Password fields. These are custom fields I added to the customer database, and the only thing they give access to is the screen that lets a customer submit a case.

The fact that they are filled in when these are not standard BC fields tells me that this cannot be a standard BC import, such as might have been loaded if my boss bought a database of potential clients, and I like to think he'd have told me about it first. I am envisioning someone loading fake usernames and passwords in the hope that it would give them administrative rights.

I can find nothing in the records I looked at that says when it was created.

Is there a way to verify if and when a mass dump was made? Is there a fast way to winnow the bogus records without losing the old ones? How do we keep this from happening again?

URGENT: Email blocked by Spamcop

My partner and client email account being blocked by Spamcop. This was not the case just a couple of weeks ago - and I have not sent any email marketing for more than six months - and even then I only ever sent it intermittently to opt-in subscribers only.

The issue not related to my email client, but to the ip address on the smtp server. Relevant part of the bounce message:

Hi, I run an ecommerce site and my payment confirmation emails go missing regularly. Adobe hosts my website and emails. Because of the secure pdf system, that means i have no way to get credit card payment info. Somretimes I find the payment confirmation emails are sent to Spam- remember, that means that Adobe is filtering it's own emails off to spam.

I doubt i am alone on this. Two questions- any ideas? And does anyone know how to completely tun off the spam filter via the settings in Webmail?

It seems that when the tool box on RHS loads correctly no error occurs, when tool box menu is replaced by the error message, the next thing you do results in error go back message. Not that it stops the error , but at least gives hint of when it will happen and opportunity to copy any text etc to clipboard and know you don't have to retype stuff to do it again.

Campaigns - Importing Subscribers - Are the BC UX team mad?

You have 1000 names in a CSV file.
You import it into a new, empty Mailing List.

The resulting list has 900 members.

You have no way of finding out which 100 names didn't import, for what reason, and addressing the issue - other than manually spending 3 hours cross-referencing both lists on the screen.
How is this in ANY way acceptable in the year 2014?

MY entire site is offline 4/3/14!

Hello Guys,

We are a client of PunkLogic, and are having a few issue's with our emails of late. I think it has something to do with the quantity of emails sent from our @logansnursery.com.au email domain. Certain users are getting blocked to certain clients email addresses from spamcop, and as of today we are receiving the below error on one email account.

I plan on doing a full virus scan on all the computers again, but everything looks clean and we don't do much with our Internet as it is, besides the use of MYOB and email. Users don't have permission to use browsers etc. I cant work out why we would be getting placed on spam list with legitimate emailing used only. Being a wholesale business, we don't use the system to send out price list or catalogues either.

The main email having the most trouble this morning is accounts@logansnursery.com.au, but we have all had issues with certain clients not being able to receive emails.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cart Image Issue

I am trying to add a custom image to the tag "Add to Cart" {tag_addtocart} on the Online Shopping Layout, "Individual Products Large" Page. The code looks fine, I think:

{tag_tellafriend,<img src="/tellafriend.gif"/>} {tag_addtocart,<img src="/addtocart.gif/">}

It brings up the image for "Tell a Friend" when I preview page in brower, but it isn't working for the cart image (instead of the image it is showing <img src="/addtocart.gif/">).

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Anniversary Dates STILL Not Working

I have a client who uses the anniversary dates to sent out yearly invoices. The client set them up to go out 2013 and they all went out fine. Every time someone paid a invoice in 2013 the client would go and change the anniversary date to 2014. Since January the system has NOT sent out any anniversary date emails. Making my client manually send out invoice notices - there are about 50 a month that need to go out.

I contacted support on Jan 15th. They acknowledged the issue and told me they would be looking into and closed the case and told me to check the blog for a fix. Its been almost 3 months now - and STILL NO FIX. I checked the blog and contacted chat support. All chat support could tell me was they know there is a issue and not idea when it would be fixed!

So needless to say, I have a client that is pissed at me that is has been almost 3 months and still no fix for something that is apart of a system they pay for!

Anyone from ADOBE want to help me? Here is my ticket number # 2710279.

Server Side Https to Http redirect

Some of my customers default to https:// as a browser setting (rediculous I know). The result is that they get the "There is a problem with this site's security certificate" message in IE. Javascript redirects don't work as the error comes up before the script loads. I can't find a way to redirect https to http, anyone have an answer on this?

Anyone else had web app items mysteriously disappear but not really, sort of, kinda.....??

I have been importing/exporting web app items, and finally got everything in order… e.g.: see

However, when I go into BC to edit anything, the image field is blank.

Which is actually impossible, because the images are working on the front end!

If I edit the web app item at all in BC, it then loses the image.

It seems as though the path is not being displayed in BC??

I am worried that if my client clicks on any item to edit, then saves, it will lose the image path...

I have tried logging out and logging back in, in case it was a browser issue, but still happening. Also tried in Firefox & Chrome, latest versions.

I have submitted this to support, they have escalated it, just wondering if anyone else has seen this before?

Updates to my sites results in pages not displaying content and refresh required

Hi,

I've had this problem for a few weeks now. When I make a change on any part of the site and save the changes the page relating to that change displays only images and the text is missing. You have to refresh a number of times or go back and forth to make it show up again.

Is this a caching issue? Is this browser related. Is this code related?

Simple query, really. We can add captcha to our web forms on a webbasics level hosting package, but not set it to use the less/more difficult to read setting? Should I use recaptcha instead?

Customer sevice ticketing no longer creates new cases

Within CST, new cases are not being generated when a CSR sends an email to a contact\customer with a CRM entry. Things were working fine unilt on or after 1 March 2014. Also, Customer Service Account disables itself every now and then, stating that connection cannot be made with the information provided. I have made sure that email address and password are correct, although the error is intermittent.

CSR email address is properly reflected in User Roles.

Any help is appreciated.
