We are working on a performance evaluation form.

There´s a part of it where we specify performance factors, the qualification is from 1 to 5. If the qualification is between 1 & 2.9, it needs a developement plan.

I would need two things, first if the value entered is between 1 % 2.9, the background color to turn red. But at the end of the form get "a report" with all the performance factors that are between that qualification rate, so the evaluator makes a plan for it.

I´m using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2

Hello,

1 - I have form created in LiveCycle 8.1.2 and created a button to e-mail the customer returns filled with information, I did some testing on reads acrobat 8, 9, X, X1 for shipping but does not work. Only sends the Acrobat Pro.

2 - When sending Acrobat Pro in the body of the e-mail attached with default name. Someone has javaScript to name a field of the form.

Can someone help

Hide and Show Subforms not hidden

Good Morning,

It's been months since I've worked in LiveCycle, so I know that I'm missing something simple on this form.

In LiveCycle Designer ES4 I have a form with check boxes that trigger subforms to appear when checked.

I used Action Builder to to create these simple rules

Condition: "When check box CopyMachine is clicked" (Check box name)

Result: "Set Visibility of CopyMachineChoice to visible" (Subform name)

However on the PDF all the subforms are appearing.

What am I forgetting?

And do I need to create a separate event for the possibility of the User clicking, then unclicking a check box?

Reading XML Binding values

Here is what I would like to do... create an applications or a PDF file where I can import a .XDP file and list out all the XML binding values for text fields, date fields and floating fields for that .XDP.

Is it possible? has anyone tried this kind of stuff before?

Hi all,

I need to use a custom XDC for a generatePrintedOutput component.

I imported a sample xdc file (hppcl5e.xdc) into my application in Workbench and i changed it with XDC editor (I also changed the name of the file in test.xdc).

Now in the generatePrintedOutput component, option XDC URI i set the type to literal value and insert the value test.xdc, but nothing append.

I tried to reflect the application structure (i have a res folder with my xdc file), but no good.

In jboss server.log i have this error line

ERROR [com.adobe.livecycle.formsservice.exception.FormServerException] (http-0.0.0.0-8080-2) ALC-OUT-002-006: URI not found: URI = Res/test.xdc Cause: URI = Res\test.xdc (Impossibile trovare il percorso specificato)

If i copy this xdc in a custom folder into livecycle server, and in XDC URI i write the full path (example E:\custom_folder\test.xdc), I get the expected result.

At this point my question is: how can i reference custom xdc file that resides into my application? Is it possible?

Displaying and choosing records in form

I have my livecycle form, and my access database.

I can get the livecycle form to display records, and have buttons to navigate through them. How do I 'pick' a record to display permanently so I can then send the form. Currently, when I send the form to myself, the very first record is the only one that displays unless I change the record again. When I send the form, I want the record that I choose to display and NOT have the option to change.

Any ideas?

Is there a way to contain an expanding table so that it does NOT overflow?

I have a table within a positioned subform and if there are more rows in the table than space in the subform, the data overflows past the boundaries of the subform. I want the data to be cut off at the boundary, such as how you can select for a field to "Limit Length to Visible Area" so that the text in the field doesn't go past the field size. I don't even want it to flow to another page, just cut it off so that it doesn't print over other fields that are below the subform on the page. Anyone know how to do this?

In the past I was able to set properties for the PDF Security that includes features to allow users to access printing and make entry to form fields. This allows users to be able to use the forms I created to full extent but will not be able to edit the layout unless they have the password. However, lately, once I closed the document, anyone is able to open the document without a password. Any idea what happened or even bettr how to correct this?

Database connection is not working in Free Acrobat Reader

Hi,

I am working on a pdf that imports data from an sql server. I got it working flawlessly in livecycle and in Acrobat Reader Pro. But in Free acrobat reader it makes an index error on the click event on the button that runs the javascript for getting a record.

I applied reader extension from Acrobat Reader Pro, but never the less it won't work.

My question: Does Free Acrobat Reader support this kind of database lookup with RE enabled.

I have tried both with formcalc and javascript. Both works in livecycle and the pro version of acrobat reader.

I am only working on the client side and do not utilize livecycle server.

Accessibility Checker

The Accessibility panel is blank in my 60 day trial version of LifeCycle Designer ES4. The documentation states to (Click Tools - > Macros -> Accessibility Check.) however Macros is not listed in my tools menu. When I view the form in Acrobat XI the accessibility pane is also blank even after running the “Setup Assistant.

Did I miss something or has anyone run into this?

I have a multipage PDF I've designed in Livecycle and have print and submit
buttons on each unique form in the document. I am able to create code (which
I've copied from someplace) that allows only one page to print but when I click
the submit button it wants to submit the entire document. PS - I created
the Submit from the blank button and have it set to submit PDF not XML.

Hi everyone,

I have a form that lets you removed questions (tables). However if a user removes them, saves the PDF and then repoens it later, the removed questions are back. Anything that is typed will be saved, but the tables keep coming back. Here is a short video that shows what happens.

I searched the forum and found some posts that I think are similar but I can't get a solution to work. One invloved copying the script that deletes the table (code resides in the the click event) to the form:ready event. Here is the code from the click event that deletes the table:

Dynamically Change Company Logo

I want to create one form used by both of our companies. When the user selects their location, the cooresponding company logo displays at the top of the form including all new pages generated. I was able to get this working with JavaScript but ran into a problem when merging the data to a spreadsheet using Acrobat. The image data exports and creates a huge column of data in my spreadsheet. How do I prevent the image data from exporting to the spreadsheet? This problem does not happen with Acrobat version 10.0.0 but does occur with versions 10.1.11 and 10.1.12.

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand how LiveCycle can help me in solving this request.

Scenario:

Users need to print multiple docs formats (docx, xlsx, pptx) to PDF
During the printing an existing PDF template has to be used to add header and footer info to the final PDF
Users will need to choose which PDF template to use for the conversion because any PDF template represent different Company information
A network printer would be the best solution

Any way to accomplish this?

I have two company logos on the top of my form. When the user selectes which company they are located at, the cooresponding logo become visible. Unfortunitly, because the images are set to global binding (so they appear on each page) the image data exports to my spreadsheet. I need to modify and create some PDF Forms created by my colleague that have a regular licence of Adobe Pro 9. With that version the LiveCycle Designer was integrated, whereas now it's in a separate product. Since Adobe Pro 9 buying new licence option is not more available, can I buy a simple LiveCycle Designer licence to create and modify PDF Forms, or should I have to buy also an Adobe Pro XI licence?
If I don't buy an Adobe Pro XI licence, will I have some limitations?

Expanding and collapsing document content with a toggle button

I am looking into getting LiveCycle but before I do I was wanting to know how difficult of a process it is to create portions of a document that expand and collapse (not just a particular field). I have a microsoft word document that I have inserted headers into. They have a toggle button next to the section header which when switched will expand and collapse that entire section (moving the content of the document below it up and down as the section is collapsed and expanded). This is what I am trying to accomplish in my form. I am just curious if this is a relatively simple process in LiveCycle or if this is something that takes a lot of programming knowledge and experience. Also, is it possible to import information from a word doc, or a PDF into LiveCycle to have something to start with or do you have to create it from scratch in LiveCycle?

Hello,

I'm working on a form with a subform choice set in the header of the master page.

After a number of attempts I finally found an example from samples designer directory (precisely <designer_install_dir>\EN\Samples\Forms\Purchase Order\Form Fragments).

The form Purchase Order Dynamic.xdp use "Subform Choice Set" for the footer.

It works in the example which has one page only.

I tried to add some more lines to th first page in order to have a second page but on the second page it takes the wrong footer ("footerUS" instead of "footerCanada").

Each footer (US or Canada) is a fragments.

There is a way to solve the problem?

(I am using LC ES4 and Designer 11.0)

I have a very large dynamic PDF and i have already built the table of contents but it only contains the title of each section (no page numbers). each item clicked focuses view on the corresponding Header of that section even if the page number changes. BUT now i need to add page numbers onto the table of contents page that will dynamically change as the document grows. I'm new to LiveCycle. Can anyone help? (I'm running LiveCycle ES4)

I have inserted two new pages into my form. The other pages where I have the date/time field work fine but when I go to add another date/time field, the automatic fly out window that allows you to chose the date does not appear. User Created Dynamic Table

I have a form and for example there are 4 goal tables on this form. Each table has questions that the user, using the fillable form, answers. Is there a way to creat this livecycle form with 3 goals on it and a way for the user to ADD a 4th goal if they need it? I know how to make the form flowable and dynamic, but how would i allow the user of the form, in Adobe Reader to click on a button to add a new TABLE (not just a new row). Is this possible?

The previous release (10.1) say: "Support for our other LiveCycle authentication types may appear in future releases, including Kerberos, Smartcard/PKI certificate-based authentication, SAML-based authentication, or other SSO mechanisms."

Now in 11.6 certificate-based authentication is enabled?

All my empty fields are set to display non-breaking space if undefined (to prevent word "Empty" from appearing in empty fields when the form is printed out). I've used a custom validation script for phone number field, but I can't figure out how remove the non-breaking space (String.fromCharCode(160) that appears before the phone number if the field have been clicked on directly rather than through tab. Any suggestions?

Here is the validation script I have on an Exit event:

I have the trial version of LC ES4, alsong with the PFX I retrieved from a zip file on the same download page. When I attempt to login to the ReaderExtensions page I get: "a fault occurred while trying to access the list of Reader Extensions credentials." How can I resolve this? I'm using administrator as user and password for the password.

Adobe changes my numeric field to include commas when validation fails. My numeric validation setting is num{zzzzzzz9.99}. I want my numeric field to display as 99999999.00, no commas and only to have 2 decimals places. I added this validation to the Display, Edit, Validation and Data tabs under the validation pattern dialog box.

When validation fails, adobe changes the display of the field to include commas and drops the decimal places:

999,999,999

How can I prevent this from happening? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've also added a change event to the field as well:

\\only allows numbers and period.

bindItems and SOM

I am trying to bind a drop down list (choiceList) to a list of records in my data set. My original XML looked like this:

 <bindItems ref="$record.parent.People.Person[*].Identifier.Name" labelRef="$" valueRef="$"/>

But it returned no values. I played around and with alternative ways of getting my data, and settled on this:

 <bindItems ref="$data.root.People.Person[*].Identifier.Name" labelRef="$" valueRef="$"/>

But what is weird is that within a scripting context:

xfa.record.parent.resolveNodes("Ballot[*].BallotIdentifier.BallotName")

Works just fine. Do SOM expressions not support the parent property in a bind context?

I am currently evaluating the ES4 product for accessibility features. I require the Quick Fix 1100.002 so that I can verify the accessibility in Acrobat Professional. (The language setting is always failing).

I have logged in to Adobe, but NO WHERE, NO WHERE can I download this fix. I DO NOT have a support purchase as I am only evaluating this product. I hope someone can assist me.

Issue with different master pages, and flowing content between them.

Hi, I'm hoping that I'm just missing something minor in the form I'm creating.

I have a form that allows you to add instances of a section, and also hide and show different subforms. This happens across two types of master pages, one with a header and instructions, and one that has a larger content area and a much smaller header. What I would like to happen is that when the subform is un-hidden with the checkbox, and another nested instance is added, that it flows onto the second master page. Right now, it flows onto another copy of the first master page.

I think the reason it's doing this, is that in the design view there is too much content for one page so the subform is already flowing onto the next page. Perhaps there's a way to add all the content onto one page of the design view, so that it flows onto the second master page when I choose the pagination option of the content area?

I've tried changing Pagination options on both the content area and the encapsulating subforms, with no luck.

Problem with Submit via Email Button

When I open the PDF on my desktop and click the submit button it gives me the option of internet or desktop email program. Both of those work fine. But when I load the pdf onto my website, open the form from there and try to submit it neither option works.

1. When I click the Desktop Email Application - nothing at all happens. (we use groupwise)

2. When I click the internet email button it asks me to name the file but then when i try to save it i get this error: Acrobat Could not open the file XXXXXXXXX Detailed Error: A file error has occured.

PS - Also it does not work in chrome or firefox which is annoying you have to use IE. If you have thoughts about how to fix that I would appreciate it! I tried lowering the adobe version from 9 to 8 which did nothing and when i lowered it to 7 it displayed but nothing worked in the form.

Merge Form Data to Spreadsheet Problem

I have always been able to export Livecycle form data to a spreadsheet using Acrobat. Now that my version has been updated from version 10.0.0 to 10.1.9, when i export the data, I get a column of gliberish instead of the form data. I tried another employees computer that has not been updated to 10.1.9 and is still at 10.0.0 and the same files exported correctly. The Acrobat update stopped this process from working and they do not leave any method for me to back up to the previous version. Has anyone lse experinced same problem? Is there a fix or workaround for this?
