In this article, you'll learn about common questions and issues that can arise when working with RSS feeds. Use the information provided in this article to resolve difficulties when syndicating content with RSS channels.
Comments are not syndicated with the other RSS items in the channel
When creating RSS channels and specifying the content that is syndicated, the comments are not included in the resulting feed that subscribers receive.
This behavior is intended; at the time of this writing, comment content types cannot be added to the RSS feed data.
Tracking the number of subscribers
At this time, the reporting section of the Admin Console does not include the ability to report on the number of visitors that have subscribed to a specific RSS feed to read the syndicated content.
However, you can download and use a third-party solution to track the number of subscribers reading the site's RSS item content.
See Tracking RSS feed subscribers using Feedburner for more information.
You can also use Google Analytics. Read the Google help documentation to learn how to add tags to links in order to track them.
Product entries are duplicated in RSS feeds
If you are seeing duplicate RSS items when you review the RSS feeds generated by this system, it is due to the way the online store is configured.
In most cases, duplicates occur when a single product has been added to more than one catalog. If you have created an RSS channel that includes these catalogs, the product data will appear as a duplicate RSS item. One entry will be generated for each occurrance of a product in any catalog in the channel.
To avoid this, configure online stores to only add each product to a single catalog.
