Investigating slowness-related issues

Version 5

This article has been ported to Troubleshooting slowness-related issues

Slowdowns might be influenced by the region you are on, by the browser you are using or by the network connection you are accessing your website from so providing this type of log is of great help.

When investigating these types of issues whether it is a page in the Admin Console which is loading slowly or a particular page in the front-end providing a browser log which shows the loading times of the assets is crucial.

    Create the log in FireFox:

    1. Install NetExport Firebug extension in Firefox from https://getfirebug.com/releases/netexport/netExport-0.9b3.xpi
    2. Login into you Admin Console using Firefox
    3. Navigate to the Admin Console page where you experience slowness.
    4. Delete the browser cache to force reload all resources; it's enough to just delete the disk cache.
    5. Open Firebug, make sure the NET panel is enabled.
    6. Reload the Admin Page
    7. Export the NET panel activity using the Export button provided by the NetExport Firebug extension, the "Save as JSONP..." option:

    6. Open Notepad or a text editor and paste the contents of the log.
    7. Reload the Admin Page

Here is a screencast that shows how to create the log in Chrome.

With the log created as described above please open a ticket with support in order to have this further investigated.

Also, do not forget to mention the site URL, the panels that loading slower and if the issue only occurs between certain times the time you noticed the issue.
