Image (and text) Protection menu
I'm sure I'm not the first to ask for this, but it seems odd that it's not been implemented...
Can we please have some sort of option to "protect" images we add to our sites?
Some users (myself included) would like to prevent visitors to our sites from downloading/saving copies of images on our sites (other than in the form of a temp file, which is required to see the image on the site in the first place!). Currently we'd have to go to external sources and embed HTML into various areas of the site to include "no right click" scripts or "no copy" scripts or whatever.
Would it be possible for the Muse team to create some sort of menu wherein users can choose from various "protection" options to protect either the entire site or specific elements on a site? (This could be a "right-click>insert" option for specific items)... This could also not be limited to images as some users will likely want to protect text as well.
Protection features could be as simple as:
If a visitor tries to save an image, they instead save a 1 pixel blank/white .gif file
If a visitor tries to save an image, they instead save a blank/white file of the same size/resolution as the desired image with a personalised watermark.
If a visitor tries to save an image, they are met with a pop-up/lightbox informing them this can't be done
If a visitor tries to copy, no action takes place or they are met with a pop-up/lightbox informing them this can't be done
If a visitor tries to right-click, no action takes place, or they are met with a pop-up/lightbox informing them this can't be done
(perhaps these pop-ups/lightboxes could be customised to include personalised messages?)
These are just a few suggestions... Perhaps these could be in their own menu or part of the "properties" menu either for individual items (highlighted or right-clicked) or for the entire site in "page properties"?
I know not all users will want this sort of thing, and many will feel it's an out-dated method of protection and this idea will probably be met with the age-old "if you don't want people to have a copy of the image, don't put it on the web" speech, but I'm sure a fair few users would still be appreciative of options to use as deterrents or as "light" protection of images etc. on a site.
I know the above scripts COULD be manually input using inserted HTML code etc. but this would be a real time-saver. Including such options would guarantee the use of the same code that would work across all browsers and would not necessarily be at risk of being broken or out-dated over time as browsers and web standards change.
It's a small feature and I'm sure including the OPTION to protect stuff wouldn't be an irritant to those who deem it unnecessary, but it would be greatly appreciated by those who would like it.
Anyone else want this?
