Can not paste from Indesign to Photoshop CC why?

I am trying to paste items from Indesign into Photoshop as a smart layer.

Sometimes it is text, others it is just a square box of colour. However nothing I copy from Indesign and paste into Photoshop will work. It used to with no issues, but now nothing! Driving me insane and caused productivity issues between the 2 programs, any suggestions?
