After installing 2018 Illustrator spends up to 20 seconds saving even an empty document on my internal harddrive.
Does anyone experience the same or have any ideas what I can try to eliminate this issue? I never had this with earlier versions. All other Adobe apps run perfectly.
Thanks,
/John

Is this a personal computer or are you part of a larger network? If you are on a network you should check with your network administrator as to whether the network software is compatible with CS 2018. Many times networks are deliberately not updated so as to accommodate older software which is used for a firewall or virus protection. This, of course, can lead to lags and delays, sometimes even when the software is compatible.

First thing to ask is do you have a printer installed and turned on?

I have no printer.

Try installing a PDF virtual printer then. AI needs to see a printer to write some info to the file for future referenc.

As far as I know, MacOS no longer allows virtual PDF printer drivers..?

Good suggestion, but no, no network, just my computer, saving on my internal harddrive.

Bill, you got me on the right track. Turned out that I had a VPN connection open to a remote server, and even though I saved locally, Illustrator must somehow try to access the server when saving. I'll file a bug report. Thanks for your input!
