Image aspect ratio wrong when opening

I got PS CC 2018 a week ago.  What I'm trying to do is to create a new blank "canvas", say 11X14.  When I drag imageX from Bridge onto it as a new layer the aspect ratio of imageX is changing. I've done this hundreds of times with PS CS6 and never had this problem. Thoughts?

Do your new canvas and the image you are importing both use square pixels ?

I changed it to square pixels and all is well.  I just hope that it will stay square pixels so I don't have to mess with this every time.

It should stick  as long as you don't base your next new image around one of the Film & Video presets that use non-square pixels.
