Hey, so I made an animation in animate cc actionscript3.0 and sent it’s swf file by email to one of my friends who doesn’t have animate. Does anyone know why he can’t open it? He tries to open it in internet explorer and google chrome but the screen comes up blank. Also, when he tries enter or control enter it says he can’t preview it, so he downloads it but when he does it says it needs something he doesn’t have. thanks.

He needs to install the Flash Player from here. Then he should be able to run SWF by just double-clicking on it.

If he wants to run the SWF from within a browser, he will need to enable it, like this.

Alternatively, you can send your work as a .exe or .app instead of a SWF.

Your friend actually needs to download the Flash Player projector to view the swf outside of a browser.

there are a number of potential problems with sending an email with an embedded swf.  it's not clear if this is what you're trying to do.

you can attach a swf to an email and that has fewer potential problems.  it's not clear if this is what you're trying to do.

and you can send a link to a swf or its embedding html and this has the fewest potential problems (when measured against the other two above options), but can still be problematic.

the best option (with the fewest potential problems) is to create an html5/canvas animation and send to link to the html.

just.emma is right. To play SWF outside a browser, your friend needs to install the standalone player (projector).

It's free player, and yes, double clicking a SWF should open Flash Player once its installed.

that's not necessarily true.  it might be true, but it might not.

it depends on the user's email client and the user's email settings, not only whether they have an os flash player and/or a browser flash player plugin.

but that message and the point i made in message 3 seems to be lost here so i'll stop posting here.  good luck.
