Line tool snafu

When I try to use the standard line tool it applies as an inverted arrowhead. I cannot get it to apply a line!

Are you sure you don't have the arrowhead settings checked and especially one with negative values? Can you post a screen shot?

Yes. In the tools menu the line is selected. But I am not getting the line at the top of the screen. When I use the cursor I get the arrow.

Can you post a screen shot of your settings?

If you are using those settings and not getting just a line, you should try resetting  the tool, and if that doesn't work, reset all your preferences.
