Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your help. Downloading the CC installation file did not work. The next day, I uninstalled the CC program from the control panel in Windows 10. It gave me the option to repair the program, which I selected. Seems to have don the trick. For two days, no AAM notification error in the Windows event logs.
Thanks again,

try installing the cc desktop app over your current installation (assuming you have the latest 4.3.0.256), https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud
if that fails,
uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
restart your computer (don't skip this)
reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.
if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 3 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)
use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials

For me, I get this error with Adobe Acrobat X installed. I edited the Acrobat Preferences (Ctrl+K on PC) and selected "Updater" under Categories. For "Check for updates" I selected "Do not download or install updates automatically".
