PS 2018 freezes when opening Raw file

I am using PS CC 2018 with the current updates installed. My OS is Windows 7, again up to date. Graphics processor is AMD RadeonHD 6450 with the latest drivers installed.

If I attempt to open any raw file (Olympus or Panasonic) from PS, the image opens in the Camera Raw window. Following any adjustments, or none at all, selecting "Open Image" causes the Camera Raw window to close, but the image will not open in PS and PS itself freezes, not responding to the selection of any button, including the "close" button. Opening Task Manager shows PS "not responding" and I have to force a closure.

The same thing happened when PS did the last update. That was eventually "cured" by going to Preferences/Performance and de-selecting "Use Graphics Processor". I have tried that again, but it does not resolve the issue.

Can anyone resolve this for me, Please...

Thank you - that's got it!

Have you any idea why this happens? Will I have to make these changes every time PS updates?

Hi

It's a mystery to me as to why Adobe has the option to enable this feature in camera raw as far as I can see there is no need for it.

Maybe some other member can enlighten you and me as to it's purpose.

Anyway glad you got it sorted

Regards

Ged
