What is the meaning of album pictures count symbols on iPad

On my iPad, album pictures count is shown with three icon: first is just a rectangle, second is a rectangle with a check mark and the third is a delete icon. For most albums the count for the delete sign is zero, but fir one it use 1. Similarly most of the albums has a zero check mark count value, but not all of them

i haven't found any reference in tutorials about the meaning if these symbols. Can anyone point to the explanations in themanuals, tutorials?

It is showing the photos in that Album that are either Unflagged, Picked or Rejected.

Here is some documentation but unsure if it says it there...
