Have you tried resetting the workspaces? (Window > Workspace > Reset ... )
Are the graphics card drivers on your laptop the latest version? E.g. if you are on a Windows laptop, maybe you need to update the Nvidia drivers? (you can download these from Download Drivers | NVIDIA ).

If updating the drivers doesn't work, please see if you can provide a bit more information:
- What operating system and version are you running (e.g. Windows 10, Mac OS High Sierra etc.)
- Which version of Creative Suite are you running (You posted in Creative Cloud forums, but mention Creative Suite).
- Provide screenshots (if you are able to) of what it is you are seeing across After Effects, Illustrator etc.
