I have legitimate copy of Adobe Creative Suite 4. I have a relative who is a professional graphic designer, and he gave it to me a couple of years ago. It worked just fine on my old iMac computer. Unfortunately my iMac crashed a couple of months ago so I purchased a brand new MacBook Pro with the intention of installing my old CS4 software onto it. When I try to reinstall a notification appears that reads "Invalid Serial Number. The serial number you entered is not valid" Why is this happening? This program worked fine on my old computer before it crashed. This is extremely frustrating and I do not want to pay for Creative Cloud if I already have a program that works.

First, you need to do a transfer to use the serial number
Transfer (selling or giving your software away) https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1355892
-you may NOT sell or transfer an Education serial number
Second, CS4 is old and Apple did not maintain backward compatibility with old programs in their new operating system
Last, Invalid Serial Number https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2359923 may help
-Problems with software validation https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2273259
-Warning that software is not genuine http://www.adobe.com/genuine.html
