Camera raw format from D810 imported into Lightroom is 16 bit when brought into Photoshop.  If one desires to bring camera raw format from Bridge into Photoshop the files are in 8 bit.  The question is how to obtain all the bit depth.  There is an option to convert from 8 bit to 16 bit but I am uncertain if this is the same as importing as 16 bit.

In ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) you can change the bit depth at the bottom of the dialog box.

To recap the steps for those that are still learning -
1)In Bridge select your image(s)

2)Press Ctrl-r on windows or cmd-r on Mac to send the images to ACR

3)At bottom of dialog box is a blue link - Click the link to bring up the menu options for ACR.

4)When done, send to Photoshop.
