Hi everybody,

i don't understand why i have this issue. I use the Grain / Stippled filter and frequently (always now) the filter (in the filter galery) is not available.

The preview is empty (white or black).

If you have a solution because i can not work without this filter.

Thanks.

Try Preferences > Plug-ins > Show all Filter groups and names

Does the layer have content?  It will not work on an empty layer.

If you are using Photoshop CC, have a look at Filter > Camera RAW > fx > Grain

It gives a much nicer result than Filter > Texture > Grain and with much more control.  It's perfect for skin texture if used at lower settings than below.

It is there and working in CC 17 & 18. Hope these fixes help.

  1. Try Photoshop Filter with another document
if it works then your original document is corrupt and build a new document
  2. Try Photoshop and the filter under another user
If it works under the new user then your preferences are corrupt and you need to reset them
  3. Try Photoshop and filter on a another system.
If it works only under another system then installation issue. Use Adobe Cleaner

Reset Preferences:

Click on the Edit>Preferences>Reset Preferences On Quit or Photoshop CC>Preferences>Reset Preferences On Quit then restart Photoshop

Cleaner Tool:

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

The most likely cause is having the same or near same colors set in both the Foreground and Background Colors in the Toolbox (Tools panel).

Press the D key to reset your toolbox colors to Foreground Black and Background White and then try the Filter>Texture>Grain>Stippled or Filter>Filter Gallery>Texture>Grain>Stippled

Thank you everyone !!! All of your answers is so nice for me.

But Jeff A. won the trophy. Yes Jeff it's that if you have "the same or near same colors set in both the Foreground and Background Colors in the Toolbox" the preview filter shows you a monochromatic color like both of colrs in the toolbox.

Thank you so much !!
