Is it possible to remove a peticular layer from a group of layers and use it as a "normal" layer?

Or do i have to ungroup all the layers and then make a new group without that peticular layer?

In the Layers panel simply drag the layer out of the group.

The short cut for this is

Move layer up the stack______  Ctrl [

Move layer down the stack____  Ctrl ]

I like to do it this way rather than drag, as it gives you precise control.  Each use of the short cut moves the layer exactly one step.

You can also do this with multiply selected layers.

Where it gets complicated is when your trapped layers are nested inside a Smart Object.

The workaround for this is to double click the SO to open it in a new window.

Select the layers you want to remove from the SO, and right click and choose Duplicate.

From the drop down in the dialog that opens, select the original document.

Turn off those layers in side the SO, and Ctrl s to save the changes.

I haven't upgraded yet, but on older versions, you'd just drag the layer out of the group, and I assume it's been unchanged.
