Lightroom Classic 2015 v6 crashes on opening giving two error messages -Mac OS 10.9.5

Since my last update; when I try to open Lightroom classic v6 on my iMAC running OS 10.9.5 it crashes giving the following error messages:

1. An error occurred when attempting to change modules.

2. Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit.

The automatic Apple and Adobe systems captured the error details which have been sent to them. However it also says the system will try to repair the error when you try to open it again, but nothing happens. I also received an message to say there was no remedy for the error. Given how much I pay per month this is not acceptable.

Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution?

We need some clarification, there is no Lightroom Classic 2015 v6.

Please check the "About Adobe Lightroom Classic" in the menu bar and indicate the specific version you presently have installed.

The latest version of Lightroom is Lightroom Classic CC 7.1 the latest version of Lightroom CC 2015 is version 2015.13.

See the screen capture for the system requirements for Lightroom Classic CC if you need to run this version then you will have to update your operating system to at least. OS X 10.11.

Yes, if you upgraded to 6.14, it won't run under your operating system. I believe that 6.6.1 is the latest version that will run with your operating system (but you should really check the system requirements on this matter). So the solution is to either upgrade your operating system, or downgrade LR to the version that runs on your operating system.

Quote "2. Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit."

This is a separate issue and indicates that your previews files have become corrupt. You can delete your previews files and when you open the catalog again the previews will be rebuilt.

The previews files folder is located by default in your User files(your name) > pictures > lightroom subfolder and sits alongside your Catalog file which ends with .lrcat (LRCAT). The previews file has the same name as the Catalog file but ends with .lrdata (LRDATA).

For safety you can first rename the .lrdata file to create a backup then delete the file.

Do not delete the .lrcat file or any other files in the folder.

See the screen capture.

Dear DdeGannes,

Thank you for your reply, I tried what you said but it still gives the same error messages.

The version of Lightroom is Adobe Lightroom build [1149743] (6.14), according to Adobe Creative Cloud it is Lightroom CC 2015. Because of the errors wanting to close the program I cannot get any further information, its all greyed out.

The problem report is as follows:

There is a lot more and I have removed the user ID info above.

dj_paige has suggested v6.14 will not work on my current version of MacOS, I had hoped that the automatic updates would recognise the version of OS that we are using.

I would be grateful for any further thoughts, if dj_paige is correct how do I get back to a version that did work?

Kind Regards

Paul

You will not  be able to run Lightroom 6.14 with your operating system.

The only solutions are to upgrade your operating system to OS X 10.11 or later, or downgrade Lightroom to 6.6.1
