Conversion settings

The conversion settings in Acrobat Distiller have disappeared. I publish a newspaper, and we use Quark. When I try to print in Acrobat Distiller and go to the properties and click on the acrobat icon, I get nothing in the conversion settings dropdown box.  How do I get my conversion settings back?  I also need to know why my PDF's are giving me 4 color black on regular text, rather than just black.

Thanks,

Roxanne

Yes, but Windows XP is extremely outdated. I can't help you with any issues regarding it.

What's your version of Acrobat? What's your OS version?

I am still in Windows XP, and I am using Acrobat Distiller 5.  The conversion settings disappeared last week for no apparent reason.  Is it possible to upgrade the distiller while still on XP?
