Changes disappear when moving off inDesign page

Has anyone had this problem? We will be working on an inDesign file and make a change to the text. When we return to the page, the change does not appear. However, if you click on the box or line of text, the change almost always then appears. Or, if you close and reopen the file, the changes are all there (or if you print to PDF, even if they aren't showing up on the page on the screen).

So, for example, we change a headline on page 1 in the file. Then work on Page 20, then return to Page 1. The headline doesn't appear to be changed. If we click on the headline, it usually changes to the new headline. Or if we save and close the file and reopen, the new headline appears.

Frustrating because we don't know as we look through if a change was actually made. I suspect this is a cache problem, perhaps a setting that we haven't been able to figure out? Any guidance appreciated.

If you think it is a cache problem you can delete all of InDesign's caches.

To do so:

For Macintosh Users: With InDesign closed launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire file “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the cache file completely leads to a lasting change.

For Windows Users: On Windows 7 and above the caches files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select “Show hidden files and folders” or “Show hidden files, folders or drive options” in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version [#]\<Language>\Cache.

Deleted cache (which inDesign then re-created), didn't have any problems on most recent issue, we'll see if it holds!

InDesign recreating the cache files is as it's supposed to be. The old caches that were deleted had somehow become corrupted but the program is supposed to create new ones. Usually when deleting the caches like this takes care of the problem there is a good chance that the problem will not reoccur.

Just a hunch. Try turning off the GPU in GPU Preferences. I've seen redraw problems with text that could be described as you do.

No ability in this iMac to turn off GPU that I can find, that may only apply with laptops?
