We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are getting an unknown error while trying to add a digital signature to a PDF file, Is that correct?

Is the issue with a particular PDF file or is it with all the PDF file? Have you tried adding the digital signature to any other PDF file?

Are you using Adobe Fill&Sign or Signature with Certificates? Please share a screenshot of the error message you are getting, to share the screenshot, refer to How to share a file using Adobe Document Cloud

Are you using the free desktop version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat to sign the PDF file? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Hi !

The issue happens with any PDF files, but not all the time; I've tried with many other PDF files and the issue still sometimes occurs. I'm using Adobe Fill&Sign.

Today I was able to sign 3-4 PDF files. No comments, only signature: it went well. But then I got a bit ambitious and I tried to add comments or text before signing. Oops ! And then nothing worked anymore.


I think I'm having trouble understanding what locks the document after signing:
Sometimes I can write a comment and then save.
But I can't write a comment, sign and then save.
But, I can sign, save, then add some text, and sign again and save...

I'm lost ! Where's the logic please ?!

An update of Acrobat and Reader is available, please check for the updates from Help>Check for updates. You can also download the updates manually from Link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Reboot the machine after the installation of updates.
