Incorrect date with File Renaming after import

I am using the File Renaming during import and changing to my personal custom settings, for example "MM/DD/YY_CustomText_Sequence001.RAW' However, once my photos are imported the date for the file name is incorrect. Currently it is 11/02/2018 and the file is renaming to August 2018, which is into the future! Could anyone help with this problem???

What date is your camera set to show? Date usually shows the date that the camera said it was taken.

Some more questions:

1. Importing from a card, via USB cable, or hard disk on your computer.

2. Which camera?

Look at the Metadata for the image in the Date taken or Date time digitized.

I suspect your cameras date and time is not set correctly.

The custom template you are using to rename the image files with the date LR is looking in the Metadata for the date taken. Not for the date you renamed to files.
