Combining PDF's into one PDF

When I go to combine pdf's into one pdf, i get the portfolio file, but all three of my pdf's are still separate.  I see the 3 pdf's on the left side and you have to select each one to see it on the right.  They don't seem to be combining into one even though it's one portfolio file.  How do I fix it?

Combine the files in one PDF file, not as portfolio.

When you select to combine files into one PDF, there are two different options: You can either create a portfolio, or one PDF file. You select which one you want by clicking on the "Options" button and then make sure that PDF Portfolio is not selected:
