I can see Camera Raw in my plugins, but NEF file won't open. Says the software isn't there. I downloaded new version which didn't make it into photoshop. Dead in the water with no Camera Raw. What to do?
First step, which model Nikon camera are your NEF files from?
Supported cameras and which version Camera Raw they are supported by:
Cameras supported by Camera Raw
Compatible Adobe apps
Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility
Using the free Adobe DNG converter if your CS6 is too old to support your camerta

Thank you. The CS6 worked great for years. I have changed nothing. I use a
Nikon D600 which is supported. I can see the plugin, but when I load a NEF
file, I get the message the plugin isn't there. Update did not work.

700.308 . The mystery is it worked just fine on the other computer. Still
does. It is about the new installation. A configuration issue??

I am sorry. I gave wrong information. I did not move the app. I downloaded
a new version from Adobe. Camera Raw is in the plugins, but I can't access
it. Error message says I need the software. Hope this helps. I am
frustrated trying to see if it is a configuration issue.

Just a thought, but does the installation file for CS6 have all the updates? I guess it would depend where you sourced it from, and also whether you are a Mac or Windows user ā Mac users had an additional update to support high resolution monitors.
