Notice for quite some time that LR is building multiple previews for the same photo, every time the specific folder is synced. Currently on the latest build (7.2) and the problem has not dropped off.

Here is an example:Capture.JPG

This is just one of many

No, there is another thread about the exact same question. Looks like a bug, so maybe refrain from using 'synchronize folder' for now. Normally you can achieve the same result by importing the folder, and setting the import method at the top of the dialog to 'ADD'. Check the 'Do not import suspected duplicates' checkbox too.

Thanks, didn't realize that another thread existed, as I had unsuccessfully searched for one. Perhaps you could provide a link.

This folder is part of a series of folders, with only this one exhibiting the problem. Do not import duplicates has always been checked. Came across this problem by accident, as the total amount of photos showed over a hundred more than in Bridge...

Just had an idea - Bridge shows 9,923 items, plus 133 hidden, where I have no idea what the hidden ones are. If hidden are shown, there are only 3 items

The total number in LR are 10,067. Wonder if these hidden ones are the culprit

This is the other thread. Don't get discouraged by the completely futile semantics discussion. Can't delete duplicates without deleting them all

thank you for the link. BTW, found out where the hidden ones in Bridge come from - the stacked photos. If "show subfolders" is selected, all but 2 hidden ones disappear. Just expanding all stacks keeps the hidden ones hidden.

The point is: Lightroom is a database, so multiple thumbnails of the same image (not virtual copies) indicate a problem in the database. It means you have multiple database records for the same image somehow.

Bridge is a browser. It shows you what is really there in real time.

Should have mentioned, not really a beginner, having worked with LR since 2007. There are no duplicates in my directories, certainly not over a hundred.

Perhaps a number of my photos are corrupt, or there is a problem with LR.

Will create new ones from the duplicates and see if this solves the problem
