Hello,

I have recently been getting error messages when trying to open Photoshop.

The messages say 'Could not initialize Photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)'

But Photoshop is still installed on my Mac.

What should I do?

Thanks

I worked out how to do it.

  1. Go to your home folder.
  2. Go to your User Library folder.
  3. Go to the Preferences folder.
  4. Delete the “Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings” (or similar name) folder.(Folder name may differ depending on what version you have)

Try resetting PS preferences

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
