Hello everyone
Since yesterday I can't open my Lightroom catalog on Windows anymore. The program starts in the background, but the process seems to be caught in an endless loop. In the explorer I can see that the program deletes the two files which end on. lrcat.lock and lrcat-wal and then they will appear again.
However, an error message does NOT appear.
Also all attempts to open a backup file failed - also on my other computer. The last backup Lightroom knows what to do with is before the big update. So it looks like there's been an error somewhere since the catalog was converted...
After that I tried to reinstall LR - no solution.
Is this a known problem and is there any solution?
I'm really desperate because there are about 10'000 processed pictures in the "damaged" period.
I hope someone has an idea.
Greetings from Switzerland

Please state the version number of your Lightroom. We need the NUMBER and not words like "current" or "recent".

Which update is the "big update"?? Please state the version number of this "big update".

Sorry, I forgot.
Currently I am using Lightroom Classic version: 7.2 [1156743] (Full details at the end of this post)

With the "big update" is meant every one, where a conversion of the catalogue was last necessary (I think it was when LR6 was new...) I don't know what kind of number it was because it's been too long. Anyway, the last usable backup comes from 21.12.2017. Since then I have made new backups regularly (approx. every 10 days) but they don't work.

the topic can be closed. I was able to find a working backup from last week on my server in the version history.
I suspect there must have been an error in the last Windows update, because I created the working backup immediately before.
Thanks anyway - I hope the problem does not recur.

Best suggestion I have: start a new thread, explain the problem in detail, and state your operating system and version of LR (as you have done).
