I downloaded the latest version of Lightroom Classic CC and it crashes on everything I do. If I edit directly in LR, it will crash when I export it; when I edit in Topaz Studio, it crashes when I save the image back to LR. I have never had any problems until this upgrade. I’m running Windows 10 on a 1 year old large computer. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom and still get the crash report error. I send in every crash report. Here is the information that show in the crash report:

I tried what was suggested in the article. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I'm so tired of this that I'm thinking of dumping both PS and LR and going to another editor.

There are millions of systems running smooth - I'm positive that's possible with yours too.

Please check the windows event log after a crash and post your findings.

Also, make sure to have your graphic driver updated to the latest version from the manufacturer (not from Windows Update!).

What is the type of your graphic card?

I have an Intel HD Graphics 530 card. I checked and was told I have the latest card available (my computer is a year old).

When I go to the Even Viewer, there are no errors for Lightroom.exe. I get errors like this:

Faulting application name: MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe, version: 11.0.16299.248, time stamp: 0x5a7e76b1

Faulting module name: OLEAUT32.dll, version: 10.0.16299.15, time stamp: 0xda658619

Everything I try doesn't seem to work. This is frustrating. I won't be able to try anything else until tonight. My husband is in the hospital and I have to visit him.

MicrosoftEdgeCP belongs to the Edge Browser - I assume this has nothing to do with it.

Please close all applications before launching LR. Then do (and describe here in details) what it needs to get LR to crash. When LR crashes in your words, does it lock, disappear, or what exactly?

Are there also crashes as long as no external tool is involved?

You then should have an entry for this time in event log - the entry does not have to be for lightroom.exe and could as well list some other process or module..

Hi photobug0210,

Sorry about the frustrating experience. That's definitely not what should be happening. Let us help make this right.

The report from the Windows event viewer you've posted is not related to the Lightroom crash event.

We understand that you'll not be able to look for a detailed report until tomorrow. I'd recommend you to contact out our technical support team so that they can diagnose the root cause by remotely checking the crash report and the app behavior. Refer Contact Customer Care  to choose from any of the available contact options.

In case you'd like to continue the troubleshooting here, just update this discussion and we'll be back with the next steps.

I wish your husband a speedy recovery.

Regards,

Akash

Boy, this is strange. I finally had time to play with Lightroom and try some suggestions. All your suggestions did not work, so I decided to get the LR catalog ready to import into another editing program to see if I still had problems. While following their directions, which said to use the Synchronize Folder command to make sure the catalog was up to date. Well, I did that and imported photos I did not want in the catalog anymore; then I took them out of the catalog once again. Then I tried working with a couple of photos to see if LR would crash. It did not crash. I tried everything I had done when it did crash, but it still wouldn't crash. So it looks like syncing the folders in the catalog did the trick. I just can't believe it was this simple thing to stop the crashing.

Thank you all for your help. I learned some new things I didn't know before and I have been using Lightroom since it was first introduced. I upgraded with every new upgrade.

Hi Pat,

That's quite unusual.

We'll take note of this and try to reproduce the issue in every possible way.

Glad to know Lightroom is backup and running.

Thanks,
