How to upgrade photoshop without Creative Cloud desktop app

I'm using Photoshop CC 2017, but don't have the Creative Cloud running on my desktop (don't like apps constantly running in the background).

I just renewed my Photoshop subscription, and assume that includes an upgrade to the latest version?

I'm trying to figure out how to do that, but am only finding instructions here, which require the Creative Cloud installed.

Update Creative Cloud apps

thanks for any help on this.

Hi

What happens when you click in Photoshop on Help >Updates - mine opens the CC desktop but if not installed it may work differently
