Slideshow Module Won't Play

After using the Lightroom 6 Slideshow module for a couple of years, it suddenly became non functional!  I can set up a show of selected images as usual, but when I select either preview or play nothing happens!  I have tried and looked at everything I can think of to try and make this work again, but to no avail.  Any thoughts what might be the cause of this total dysfunction?

Are you on Windows or Mac?

Are you using the latest LR6 which is LR 6.14?

Any change to your hardware or OS lately?

If not, update from here: Download Photoshop Lightroom

If it does not help, try if it helps to reset the preferences: Resetting Preferences in Lightroom CC/6
