Photoshop freezes for about 30 seconds every 10-20 minutes

Hello,

Everything in photoshop freezes every 10-20 minutes for about 30 seconds while working. Even the "marching ants" while using the lasso freezes. Then it pops back to normal and "catches up" at an unnatural speed, painting any stroke made or moving any panel moved during the frozen period.

This is really affecting my workflow, does anyone know what might be the cause of this? Something in my settings maybe?
