Data Merge Dropping "F"

We've been using data merge to create name tags for our events and recently noticed during the data merge is dropping the letter "f" from our source.  Everything else is importing correctly, it's just the "f" that is getting dropped.  Any suggestions?

It's hard to tell, are you able to supply more information, such as:

  • What version of InDesign you are on, as well as the operating system and language version;
  • When the fault started occurring (e.g. from a fixed date, after a software update, after something else was installed on the machine)
  • Does the fault happen in one document or every document;
  • Is this limited to one machine or does this happen on other machines (or there's only one copy of ID so don't know);
  • What happens when other file formats are used for the import (e.g. rather than tab delimited txt, what does CSV do?)
  • Do you have a sample of the affected data in which we may be able to try and replicate the fault? We will understand if it is sensitive and unable to be released.

If you can supply this information, it will assist in trying to diagnose the fault.

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Hi jessicac,

I would like to know if the issue is resolved, or it still persists.

Have you tried resetting preferences: Set preferences in Adobe InDesign or tried with different source file.

Kindly update the discussion if you need further assistance with it.

Thanks,

Srishti
