Effects aren't tracking with masks?

I'm a bit of a newbie here, so there may be something obvious that I'm missing, but here goes.

I'm trying to track a mask for an effect so I start with a mask at time A and click the watch to set a key point.

Go to time B and move the mask and add a key point.

When I go back to time A, the mask has moved, but not the effect.

What effect are you applying the mask to?

Lumetri color, basic corrections,shadows and blacks.

I can't reproduce this.  Keyframed masks on the Lumetri effect seem to be working fine here.
